No one seems to take interest in you after malferis leaves the orcs seem to glare at him as he leaves. Everyone else seems to avert their eyes from him.
Malik scoops up the gold and puts it in his pouch. ”Not only did he pay us, he invited us to the mansion. This place is better than I thought. Did you notice anything?” he says looking to Dex.
Dex to Malik, while leaning back and mainting his gaze around the room, “Everyone seemed to avert their gaze from that guy, except that orc over there. We should have left the orphanage a long time ago, so much more opertunity out here.”
”Let’s go have a chat with the Orcs, I would say be ready but I know you always are.” Malik gets up from the table and walks over to the Orcs. ”Excuse me gentlemen, can I buy you all a round of drinks?”
Kismet the takes a swig of some ale then tells you "Duke venstram sits his fat ass in there all day, a useless brat that does nothing for his people he just gorges himself with whatever he likes using his inheritance, it's a real shame I knew his father a good man who built this town for refugees running from dragons fire and the bandits who prey on poor folk" he looks at you with a solemn sad look "is that what you wanted to know?"
The orcs are very pleasantly surprised by this one Pat's you on the shoulder and waves the bartender over "to what do owe this pleasure fellow warrior" the other chirps of with "and here I thought we would only meet broke, weak worms who can't even carry a sword" both laugh
Malik laughs with them, ”We thought the same friend. While I have your time, my brother noticed you were eyeing the pale man that approached us. Is there anything we should know before taking a “simple job” from him?” He takes out one gold for the bartender when he approaches.
He grits his teeth "oh that worm he offers the same job to every person who enters here he even hires children then has the audacity to offer us the job after no one returns but says 500 gold is too steep" he snarls "as if we could not walk into the Manor and take it if we wanted" "I never understood why fancy clothes give a human so much confidence like his bones won't snap between my teeth" he takes a drink of his free ale "we will leave soon any how no honest work to be had here"
Ill saddles up to the bar on the other side of the orcs and lean up against the bar looking out over the tavern, “So, why haven’t you taken his gold or taught him a lesson yet?”
”Well how about we make a deal. If you two join us and help find this item, we will get you the 500 gold you’re asking for. After we find have the rod, we can go up to the Manor and...retrieve what’s owed. What do you say?” Malik sits back in his seat and summons a dark jagged dagger in his hand and begins spinning it in a playful manner.
The orc looks over surprised "I'm starting to think they don't have much money at all this town is a rotting corpse, how much inheritance can he possibly blow through" the other chimes in "with strong orcs like us we need it to be worth our time, to much trouble with no guarantee of gold we know we can make more elsewhere" before drinking the first orc looks in his mug "I'm sure that worms time is coming weak men don't live long in this part of the world" they both seem to have lost interest in continuing the conversation they begin drinking their ale
The dwarf sighs "I could only hope that pathetic Duke is out of gold so he can starve in there, hopefully he already has we hardly see him come out and his staff at the Manor all deserted or disappeared" "there are rumors he keeps shady company and no one dares approach the Manor let alone work there" looking up in thought "if there is anything left of value in there I want no part in it, this town would be better off if the whole Manor disappeared over night" the dwarf begins to clean glasses
Malik stands up from the table, ”My apologies, I mistook you for Orcs of action, sounds like you’d rather have them run children to their death than do something yourselves. Enjoy your drinks.” After saying this he dismisses the dagger and walks back to his table.
The orcs shrug it off not completely aware it was an insult. When you walk to your table and drink your ale you taste it and find it is of really low quality. It might as well be piss in a mug. Surprising the orcs knock it back so much. The dwarf looks over at dex and Malik "if you plan to go north it would be wise to bring a torch and be cautious, you boys seem decent enough folk id hate to see your dead bodies on the road.
((Hahahahahhaha... The best part is Dex thinks this is the most persuasive shit ever...))
Dex leans back against the wall and keeps his eyes peeled on the surroundings, making sure there is no one overly interested in us.
Perception: 5
Dex whispers out of the side of his mouth to Malik, "can you believe the people in this town pay you before you kill them."

I’ll flick some thieves can’t signals towards Malik behind the orcs’ back “Pussies” and head back over to my table with my new beer.
