Ember can spot the features, just barely, and you see a tan Elven face with a small black beard and mustache, with dark eyes. The hair seems dark, though the details are hard to make out. From within the pockets of the cloak, Ember spots a silver dagger, but more mysterious of which is a small folded paper. 

With some contemplation and discussion between Amnesty and Ember, Ember inches closer with consideration before making herself visible to the figure from the safest distance initially. As the figure notices her, she will slowly attempt to get closer, acting as a curious animal, trying to look cute, innocent, and playful.

Amnesty will remain attentive to the situation, ready to bamf Ember away if there are any signs of hostility.

The figure doesn't seem to give much care to Ember, waving a hand to her in dismissal as if he does not wish to deal with it.

Ember inches closer in a playful stance, moving to nuzzle the figures hands, occasionally glancing at her target.

"Why has there been troubles here lately?"

The figure looks annoyed now, muttering, "Darn animals. This place needs to keep its pets under control."

Ember nuzzles closer to the figure, getting as subtly close to the cloak pocket as possible before trying to steal the paper, masking it with a slight nuzzle of affection. Amnesty prepares to bamf Ember if she is unsuccessful.

Anvin regards the holy symbol, and then begins to speak. "Well, this used to be a real nice town. Even a tourist attraction sometimes. They'd hold parades and circus events. It was great. Lathander kept in touch, sending paladins with messages regularly. But then, a few years ago, something changed. We lost touch with the Morninglord, and some other power came...a dark one. We still keep faith, in hope Lathander will rise up again, but the Blackbound keep parading the streets like they own the place, slapping their darn stickers on the symbols of Lathander. That dang black crown symbol. I hate it."

Make a History check, if you'd like to see if you recognize the word Blackbound.

The figure doesn't seem to notice the paper slip from the pocket. He instead, seeing it as another attempt at a nuzzle, swats it away forcefully. "Go! Scram, why don't you?"

Ember let's out a distasteful growl, hiding the paper within her mouth before scampering away and back towards Amnesty. Amnesty inhales sharply as she regains control of her own being, her irises returning to their dark red state as Ember disappears under the party's table sneakily. Ember deposited the paper in Amnesty's hand under the table and Amnesty slips it deep into her boot.

Seeing that Amnesty is back to herself, Folwyn will give her hand a squeeze of reassurance and finally eat the bread he’s been holding. 

Are there many of these Blackhound in town? What do they look like and what is it they worship?

You can both faintly recall hearing about a group named the Blackbound, yet you hardly remember much.

"Uh...well, they're a bit of a cult, I think. They worship some kind of dark deity. Like, the exact opposite of Lathander in every way. They don't reside here, but there are always ones coming through. They're noticeable, in the black cloaks with the symbol on it, with the fake twisted black horns atop their heads. Real dedicated--too bad it isn't for the right god." 

Addressing Anvin Ackler "Keep yer faith boy, times may be dark but ye not be doomed till yer faith wavers and dies. We be travelers yes but supporters of this Blackbound we be not."

Thoradin can recall a bit more. That these Blackbound are fierce supporters of their gods and even sacrifice themselves when the time comes, and obey their leader with every command, no matter the task. The deity, though, seems to escape you.

Anvin smiles. "It's nice to hear that--thanks."

Sure. But you can't manage to get the name. But something nags at the back of your memory...maybe something from a book. Two twisted dark horns connected to a body sittingatop a throne shrouded in shadows. All you remember are the horns.
