Flux and Ewan - you both realize that the wolves aren’t actually trying to kill you. The first wolf that Flux knocked down limps away. Despite suffering damage from the wolves they aren’t going for their “kill” tactics. They are staying away from your throats and claws aren’t nearly pronounced as they could be.
Flux changes his attacks between targets and ends up beating them both into submission. No other wolves step forward.
Ewan you pin down the Red Wolf, it is laying supine under you. You hear the red wolf speak “Good.” And he relaxes into a non threatening position.
The wolves come up to the others that were seated by Flux and begin to lick their wounds. One wolf comes up to Flux and begins to lick his side, where the gash is on the side from the wolf bite.
The appearance of the crows had him a bit worried. They could be highly trained or familiars and if they are familiars, then they were all magic users. That could be good for portal research or very bad if they decided to attack. All in all Andris kept his mouth shut and senses sharp.
Ewan in his wolf form will let go of the red wolf, and step back, sitting down. When the red wolf gets up, Ewan will also lick the wound that he left on the Red Wolf. Once he had shown that even after combat, Ewan steps back and transforms back into his humanoid form.
Ewan then turns to Flux "we should be good now, just let the wolves do their thing, we've proven our strength to the pack now, let them do what helps them - and do as I do from now, in other words - don't start licking random wolves." turning back to the Red Wolf, Ewan continued concentrating on his spell (it lasts ten minutes) and says "The ways of the wilds - I miss having those in the camp" he laughs, speaking to the Wolf.
One thing that is noticable to Flux is probably how much more comfortable Ewan is with the wolves, and that he had spoken more here than he ever would back at the camp, even if Flux couldn't have understood it, there is definitely a conversation going on between Ewan and the wolves.
It reminded Ewan of the first day he left the civilized world as a child, and almost died to a pack of wolves, but instead, he helped them, and it was then he first noticed his connection to the wildlife world. It was then when a nearby druid circle started to take interest in him.
Everyone had seen Ewan transform into the black dire wolf form that had been spreading around the camp. Now there was no doubt why Ewan chose the form of a wolf, considering how natural and calm he was about the situation.
"So," Ewan turned to the wolf. "Seen anything strange around here lately?" he asks the Red Wolf.
Seeing that the wolves have halted their aggressive nature Flux will too as well. Hurting animals actually wasn't something Flux liked doing unless it was in pure self defense. As the one wolf comes up and begins licking his opened wound Flux will gently and nonbelittlelingly pet the wolf atop his head as long as the wolf doesn't seem apposed to it. Flux will actually take a seat on the ground beside the wolves just to relax and rest for a moment after the intense altercation. "Yeah sorry guys I'm not much of a licker myself but I appreciate you cleaning my wound for me." he says to the wolf even though he has no idea if they understand him whatsoever. Looking to Ewan "You seem extremely more comfortable around these animals than normal people, Im glad the fight didn't have to go on further than it did. I don't take much of a liking to hurting animals if I don't have to. This is obviously your area of expertise so I'll just be over here chilling with these fellows while you go about talking to the head honcho there." and Flux will lay down on his back putting his hands behind his head and hang with the wolves that are all around him.
"Oh is he your bird, he's so cute!" Marley gives the bird big puppy dog eyes, animals remind her of home. "My name is Marley and this is my team mate Andris, it's a pleasure to meet you. What are you bringing to the cause?"
Marley and Andris - “we have our specialties. Come we grow tired of travel let us make it to your camp so we and our beasts can rest.” As you continue your journey back to the camp.
Ewan and Flux - The Red Wolf replies to Ewan “Nothing strange, no. You continue to protect this land and we will do our part as well. You know how to find us if needed.” At that he stands up and motions for the others to go back in the woods before they all disappear out of sight.
As Marley and Andris continue their journey they eventually see Flux and Ewan sitting in a small clearing next to the path. Dried blood spattered, but seemingly ok.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ewan walks over to Flux when they finish the conversation and the wolves are out of sight. "I grew up in these woods. I know them pretty well. The circle that took me in when I was young helped, and well - I've always been able to communicate with animals like that since I was a child. Part of the reason I am a druid myself now," he replied simply "but looks like one of them got a little rough. They were holding back, probably testing something I said funnily enough. I'm glad you see the value of animal's life, though" he responded when Flux mentioned that he didn't like harming animals either.
Continuing their patrol on the return journey on the patrol, Ewan said "ahh, here come Marley and Andris, time to make sure your all set for anything new," Ewan told flux, with some magic behind the words.
Slowly the group reforms, escorting the carriages of diplomats to the fort. Crows cawing overhead in the distance the entire way back. You give a nod to the gate keepers and ask them to alert Quinton.
As has arrives he gives a raised eyebrow to the group and takes the scroll. After reading it quietly to himself “Well I don’t know where they expect me to got’damn put you four when I don’t got ‘nough supplies and room for my own men.” He pauses turning his head “Griffin!” A human boy, surprisingly enlisted given he is clearly too young to be runs up “yes sir?” He asks.
Quinton - “Show these four guests to the emptied storage room off the temple room. Gather supplies to make living quarters. These our special visitors that have free access to the portal.”
As they leave he turns to the group: “what’s the report?”
"Nothing down by the river sarg, waters temp is nice, dipped my toe in, picked this gorgeous flower" she says pointing to a white flower tucked behind her ear."Found the new friends on our way back, cute crows but boy are they loud" Marley starts trialing off on conversation listing various trees and animals she saw and how many times she tripped over untill somebody cuts her off
"I agree keeping this to ourselves will be smarter, if they ask how we got it we'll just say we saw the thief and when we called out they dropped it and ran."
Ewan decided that Flux would be better at explaining if anything was of importance, but as he interacted with the wildlife himself, he remembered that Flux may not have understood what the wolves and Ewan were talking about. He decided to speak first, saying "well, I spoke to some local wolves. They haven't noticed anything, and they may be able to come to our aid if we need them." he said
Quinton nods appreciatively to the lack of problems. He raises an eyebrow at the report of talking wolves and looks over to Flux to confirm. Seeing the freshly healed but still blood stained wound on his side, the Sergeant doesn’t wait for a response. “This place is weird enough already, but you got it Wolf Man.”
“Hey Andris, Torvald should be finishing up before heading to the mess hall. You might be able to catch him in a good mood. After that everyone else get fed and some rest. Your assignments begin tomorrow.”
Andris salutes to Quinton as he says, "Yes, sir" before heading out to find Torvald. Briskly walking, he made his way down to the armory. His goal was two things, some sturdier armor and a sword. With heavier armor, he could rely less on his magic, with sword, he wouldn't have to summon one which could save time. Finally reaching the armory, he scans the room looking for any signs of movement. "Torvald? Are you here?"
As anyone of the group going along enters the room. You hear grunting in the distance. When Andris chimes in, a bald half orc head pops up from a pile of metal and leather. The grizzled voice yells out “I’m here, I’m here. Whatcha lookin’ for. He begins to step over and try to gingerly walk around the piles of materials as it begins to clink and clank, a shield falls onto the floor and spins like a coin until stops moving all together.
the bare chested Half orc, muscular by trade - the blacksmith and quartermaster of Alpha LI. A patchy greyed beard hangs from his chin, singed away from the embers he works with. Missing one eye, the other looks upon you awaiting your requests.
Andris moves up to the half orc and responds. "I'm looking for a new set of armor and a longsword. After yesterday's battle I i figure heavier armor would provide better protection and I'd rather have a real longsword than summon one. If you can't spare the longsword then sheath would do well enough. Hell, I'd even help you out smithing if it will help me get one quicker."

Healing word heals for Flux: 4
