(My plan is the same as I have described in post #344.)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
It seems goblin 4's luck as ran out, as Cirrus' attack hits the goblin, laying him low. Leaving only Goblin 1, and 'Yeemik.'
(Your wolves move on your initiative, but until level 5, only one of the three of you can attack as an action (This is how I've seen it done on both beastmaster rangers and people who've 'tamed' pets so its what I'm going with). But they can take other actions, such as 'help' dodge, disengage, etc. But not actions like grapple, or shove.)
Yeemik, slowly makes his way over to the edge of the elevated area. Dragging a beaten, bloody human, who looked on the verge of death, but was still, through some ill luck, holding onto life. Giving Yeemik 3/4ths cover, as he rug the barely conscious captive to the edge, and shouted down.
Hyuumannnss. You invade our home, as Klarg did. You murder our brothers, and sisters. And now, you will listen. Or human here... he says, shaking the beaten, bloody man for emphasis, eliciting a groan, We catch him yesterday, and his dwarf lover. Earlier we catch man on cart..... Now we have you, here. You will listen to deal, yes? The man in his hands was naked, with Brilliant blonde hair, tall, powerful looking. Very familiar.
(Your wolves may move, they may not attack. This is happening between turns. Yeemik has not taken his turn yet. Cirrus you're still up, technically, everyone may respond to Yeemiks words.)
Cirrus moves to F5, not in an intimidating way, just a calm, slow approach. The wolves move closer to Cirrus, I don't know how they react to seeing their former masters like this, guilty? Vengeful? Probably irrelevant. Point is, they get as close to their new master (Cirrus) as they can. Cirrus hears this goblin talk about this human being accompanied by a dwarf, then he sees the blond hair, and makes the connection that this man, broken and bloody as he may be, has to be Sildar Halwinter. Which means that these goblins also kidnapped Gundren Rockseeker! Cirrus also notices that Gilari has been wounded, so with those factors combined he figures that they are in a less than advantageous bargaining position.
Trying his best to sound confident despite the number of lives hanging in the balance, Cirrus acknowledges this "Yeemik" character, "Very well goblin, we shall hear you out. What is this deal you speak of?" All the while, Cirrus is keeping an eye on Goblin1, incase he tries anything funny.
DM:
Cirrus will ready an action to command the wolves to run over to Goblin1 and attack him. One of the wolves will make a bite attack: (5 to hit, w/ adv. because of Pack Tactics: 7)(7 damage). This action will be triggered by Goblin1 trying to attack Gilari, or any member of our party, for that matter.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Herman, as bloodied and wounded (1HP! HELP!) gives the Goblin a look as he attempts to bargain. His voice devoid of any interest whatsoever, he lets out a single, "Uh huh."
Yeemik smiles, though it doesn't seem as malevolent as it should. You come seeking men, yes? This one? That one? Yeemiks crude finger points off to the side, where another man is chained up. He looks unharmed, for now, but he is chained to the wall, just barely within visibility. The man groans Oi! You 'ave to 'elp me! I stole a cart I did, but then they ambushed me, and killed me best friend! Yeemik made a threatening gesture, and the man shut up. We give you one, if you Kill Klarg. Klarg force us to fight for him. He Brute. You kill Klarg, then Yeemik take over. And we not ambush no more, and we give you one of these humans. What say?
Yeemik keeps the dagger close to Sildars throat, continuing to use him as a human shield. The other remaining goblin stands over the goliath, but doesn't seem willing to strike at the moment. But still has his weapon readied, should fighting break out.
(I'll use Stone's Endurance on the latest hit to stop 5 damage. Ooof awful roll, but it still leaves me fully capable, if prone, on 1HP
Also Raiketsu - by healing do you mean magic, or does my Second Wind count?)
Ooc: Is there any way you can link to a larger version of the map?? Or somehow make it bigger? Trying to figure out who is where when viewing via a phone is very hard.
Realizing that he is one of the only creatures in this cavern not on death's door, Cirrus attempts to bargain, "...Very well, Yeemik, was it? Very well Yeemik, my friends and I shall take you up on this offer, but only if you allow us to rest and recover first. Surely you will grant us that, won't you? After all we'll need to be as prepared as possible if we're to meet with this Klarg fellow, right? Beyond that one stipulation, this deal sounds perfectly reasonable, especially that part about not ambushing people anymore. What do you say? We will do this for you if you let us rest in here for the night? During which time, I think it would benefit if I asked you some questions about Klarg, so as to create the best strategy for taking him down. Sounds perfectly reasonable, eh? Seems like it would be in your best interest to grant us this rest if we are going to fix your little Klarg problem, yes? How about it?" Cirrus can be a little naïve, oftentimes trying to bring out in the inherent good he believes is in everyone.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Vimak is listening intently. He agrees with what Cirrus has said, but is distracted by the two halves of his thigh and the distance between them. Like Gilari, he will use Stone's Endurance: 7.
"What about the goods that were on the wagon? Where are they?"
(@James unfortunately not. I've made sure not to constrain it, and thats as large as it goes :/ and no, the healing has to be magical in nature. I see second wind as more of a negation of previous damage rather than a healing of it. But I do give you points for considering it. I ALMOSt allowed it.)
Yeemiks eyes drop as he considers, though the knife stays at Sildars throat. Pondering.. pondering.. for what seemed like an hour before saying We grant this. You rest. But only until recovered. Then you fight Klarg. Eight hours, we allow for rest. He drags Sildars body back to it's shackles and manacles, re locking him to the wall, before coming back to the edge. Waving a mystic sign. A magical aura flared to life around the shaman. A contingency spell. Klarg big brute. he not smart... but he very strong. He can kill two goblins with single blow. He crafty. He hide. He ambush. He has pet wolves. Not ones at front. Own special ones.
(DM, if Gilari takes a long rest, fill that heal his hamstrings? I know you said magical healing, but what is more magical than a good night's rest?)
Cirrus puts his hands together, proud of his diplomacy, turning to the rest of the group, "Excellent! Everyone, come gather around, Yeemik here has offered us asylum in this cave in exchange for liberation of him and his kin from a tyrant. Everyone huddle up in this corner over here, we will be spending the night here." He starts walking over to E3, gesturing to the rest of the group to do the same. When the group is together, he will whisper to everyone (because a huddle is too suspicious), talking as quietly as he can, Cirrus says:
"Listen, I don't fully trust anything that will eat a fully sentient creature, so I propose that we have at least one person keeping watch at all times, we can take shift, but I don't know how long each shift should be. I will take any recommendations on that front. I will take the first watch, as I have not been hurt at all today."
(Unless the DM rules that I have to be asleep for 8 continuous hours or asleep for a total of 8 hours, instead of how the rules allow for any light activity as well as sleeping. I'm just trying to cover my bases here, because I don't know how many home-brew rules you have, so I don't want to do something that would work regularly, but doesn't work in this campaign because of a rule change I didn't know about) After that, Cirrus addresses Yeemik, "Yeemik? While my allies and I are resting I would like to talk with you about a few things in the meantime. First, I want you to tell me what you can about Klarg. Is there anyway we can get the jump on him? Anything you or another goblin could do or say to catch him off guard, distract him, or perhaps lure him to another room we might be lying in wait? Secondly, you mentioned a dwarf that was with the human that you chained to the wall just now. Where is he? We...wait...he's not...he wasn't in that pot, was he?"
One last thing I want to know while we are entering into a short rest: what gender are my new dogs? Both girls? Both boys? One boy one girl? I know there's no mechanical aspect to it, I just want to know for the flavor text.
EDIT: I looked at the post that said that a long rest would heal him, but I didn't want to delete that first line because I was really proud of my own joke.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Herman doesn't trust the goblins at all but he's too wounded to be an effective watchman (Again, 1 HP: A light breeze can knock him out at this point). He will be grumpy about the whole working with the goblins and resting in the cave thing but he won't complain cause everyone is pretty injured and this is the party's best bet.
When Cirrius goes on guard, Herman will stay awake for a bit to discuss some things with him in whispers so goblins don't find out.
Whispering during long rest:
"Yeah, so I don't trust these goblins at all and definitely not enough to work with them. What say we rest up a bit and then strike back at them?"

Mmm, for the sake of the story I'll allow it, but someone needs to make a medicine check and use some sort of cloth wrap around his ankles. DC 12 medicine.
Then who is on first, then second watch. Roll perception.
4. Cirrus may suggest that because Gilari and Herman need to rest the most, Vimak might need to take second watch? Unless someone else volunteers for second watch when the time comes around.

You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vimak slaps his own face into alertness after Cirrus nudges him awake. He is happy to take the second watch, and spends it staring at the goblins, slowly sharpening his ax blade with a whetstone. Perception: 9
Herman is paranoid and were he not so injured, he'd take watch. Instead, he's going to take the long rest while wearing his armor and will keep his bow and arrows really close to him as he sleeps. That way, he can jump in on the fight in a moment's notice.
(some of your questions were already answered in Yeemiks post, technically so I'll only address the ones that weren't)
No. Dwarf lover sent to Cragmaw Castle. Orders of Goblin King Grol. Black Spider pay Klarg to catch Dwarf and Human if see him. So we catch. That why human naked. We send his gear and dwarf to Cragmaw Castle, as told to do. And no, we not risk ourselves. If you fail, and he know, we all die. And you already kill most of us. Castle that way... he says, pointing roughly north-east Many mile. The last words he stared sharply at Cirrus.
Neither Cirrus nor Vimak notice anything, primarily in Cirrus case, because the exertion between running, fighting, and everything else finally caught up with him, made him fall asleep on his watch. Waking up just in time to wake up Vimak. Luckily, the goblins didn't betray the party and kill them in their sleep. Over the course of the long rest, the split thigh is likely tended. it had no real detrimental effects other than .. 'stinging like a *****.' and thanks to Cirrus' efforts, the ankle-muscles not being used for a while, and such, were healed enough the man could walk again, albeit with a limp that still removes 5 feet from his walking speed maximum, until a full day has passed or more. Everyone gets the benefits of a long rest. Use the 'dice' on your character sheet to 'heal' and I will allow anyone with 'second wind' to use it 'BEFORE' the rest occors so it will be 'reset' before continuing. See, I'm fair!(ish)!
Regardless, you all finish your long rest with no incidents, The shaman mills about above you, beating the cart-theif that had stolen your cart, that you had chased all this way. Sildar remains unharmed, though still at 1HP.
Yeemik gives you the general layout of the cave where Klarg is, to better help you plan, but other than this, he does not offer any other assistance.
whenever the party gets to F-17 or E-20 that is where 'slow progression' will begin. You know that Klarg is in the room just above 'Cragmaw Hideout' but not where. The only enemies oyu expect to face there are Klarg, and his two Wolves.
How will you approach this?
