He may not know what they're saying, but he's sure it cannot be anyone good, so he stands at S3 on the battle map, such that he won't immediately be visible if they don't open the door all the way, but won't be hit/blocked by the for if they do (Passive Stealth is 13, I'm going to hold an action, so I can't hide). (If the party tells him not to, then he will hear what they have to say) He will ready an action to attack the last person to step past the door with his rapier and bonus action with his dagger.
(The blow is what happens when the door opens)
As he concentrates on steeling himself for this attack, every sound in the cave goes silent, and the world seems to slow down to a tenth of its normal speed. Cirrus is confused for a moment, until he hears the only sound remaining: a once subtle tick. tock. now clear as a bell. Thinking that perhaps all that effort spent trying to open that chest might have been worth it, he breathes deeply in and then out, and he refocuses his mind on his strike.
tick. tock.
Cirrus readjusts his grip on his rapier.
tick. tock.
He pulls his hand back...
tick. tock.
... and thrusts it forward into the unsuspecting rebrand's shoulder. 14 to hit; 7 damage. Noise returns to Cirrus' ears as the sound of the ticking fades away. He then takes the opportunity to stab a dagger into the redbrand's other shoulder (12 to hit; 3 damage).
(I sure hope a 14 beats this goon's AC, or else all those theatrics will have been for nothing. I'm starting to wonder if this amulet would be better utilized in Vimak's hands)
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
If he can't hear, he will assume the worse. If a hostile Redbrand comes through the door, he will take his held action and attack 15 for 12 damage. If another person comes through the door, he will ask what they are doing here.
((OOC - I'm mildly confused at cirrus' post, to the best of my knowledge there's no such thing as passive stealth unless it was added today >< i see a 'tooltip not found' so not sure what that is eitherand then i see a non-rolled 14? Will post once these have been clarified, lol))

(Allow me to clarify, then. Every ability can have a passive, if you want me to show my work, then please watch this video:
The relevant information begins at 1:32 [and, to a lesser extent, 4:19]. The reason I got a 14 without rolling is because I used the Clockwork Amulet, which allows me to forgo rolling to hit, and instead acting as though I rolled a 10. To quote the item's description:
Clockwork Amulet
Wondrous item, common
When you make an attack roll while wearing the amulet, you can forgo rolling the d20 to get a 10 on the die. Once used, this property can’t be used again until the next dawn.
By using the Clockwork Amulet now on. my rapier attack, I behave as though I rolled a 10 to hit. I get a +4 to hit with my rapier, so my total is 14.
And, just to make sure everyone is on the same page, here is the post where he tells me that I received the Clockwork Amulet
After a while, the proprietor notices the group outside, and shuffles out, clearly a little flustered O-Oh my.. I'm so sorry for my terrible rudeness. How can barthens help you today? I am Elmar Barthen, proprietor of this fine establishment. The largest in the region! H.. Oh yes, Master Sildar! I wasn't expecting you to be here during the delivery, I was tol... Indeed. Things.. happened. But these fine folk are still owed their delivery fees. So I ask you to pay them your end, as I must pay them mine, for saving me from a horrible fate, and the fate of another who most would have abandoned. They seem to still be in deliberations as we acquired 'new' goods in the between time, However.
Oh, that seems fair. So, how do you intend to split up what isn't already headed for here? Elmar asks, a little curious. Seeing Cirrus stabbing a box, showing a little shock but seeign as it wasn't his, payed it little mind.
*ugh the thing is stuck on bold...*
So simplify this, instead of listing every possible item, every barrel/chest etc will contain 1d10 X 4 gold worth of 'products' and you will have a total of 20 chests/barrels/crates etc.
so for each barrel/chest/blah blah, you wish to trade off roll 1d10 and multiply it by 4. That is what that chest is worth.
If you wish to scrounge, the same rules as before apply. Everything on adventuring gear is available (except alchemists flasks this time) Roll a 1d100, and a 40-60 and it will be there in 1d4 quantity. Each time you scrounge, that will be -1 barrels. There is no modifiers for this. So you have 20 chests worth of loot.
Finally, Whats in the ****IN box?!@?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
((yeah that clears things up. I will allow passives of that kind as I was 100% unaware of that until now. And yes i now remember giving you that but yeah does help to know it's begin used XD Allright posting...))
Just outside the mumbling can still be heard though everyone's ears seem to not be working very well today.. perhaps their beating had been harder than they originally thought. Vimaks leg ached just a bit from it's earlier damage but caused no detrimental effects in this moment. After a moment one can be heard shuffling down the hallway while the other seems to be entering the door. The door swinging open in such a way that he doesn't initially see anyone. And after a moment, he feels the sharp sting of a rapier in his side, followed by a heavy smack from Vimaks weapon across his chest, caving it in, before he can utter a cry for help. Bastille Does not shift as the redbrand crumbles to the floor, dead. 70
the other one having not heard the noise, however, the Skeletons seem to be looking that way......
Cirrus wonders what that skeleton can do, but can’t do anything about that right now. He gestured at Vimak to drag the body away from the doorway, so it is not immediately visible.
(I would like to make an arcana check to see what cirrus know about animated skeletons and what potential they have. Is this thing functioning as a security camera that relays what it “sees” to its summoner? Why would someone go to the effort of animating a skeleton only to sit it here for no reason? What functions does an undead skeleton like this have that would be beneficial for it to sit here of all places? Intimidation? Guard that doesn’t need to sleep? Surveillance?)
(I need someone to roll for me because my computer crashed again. I have a +3 to arcana checks. If he doesn’t roll high, then it makes sense. He wouldn’t have much reason to study necromancy(although if he rolls really high, that could imply a very dark moment in his life where he might have tried to Full Metal Alchemist his mom back).)

Cirrus wracks his brain. Somehow he feels a lot of his guesses are far from the mark, but isn't too sure. But it's common enough knowledge that skeletons tend to guard old crypts, and are raised either through necromantic magic, or familial magic. They generally leave people alone whom have some proof of familial bonds, while attacking all other intruders.
(Perfect! That’s good enough! Once we take care of the second guy I can scan the room for any iconography, on the coffins or on the walls, and use prestidigitation to create a trinket with that image on it, and show it to the skeleton that we are connected to whatever he is guarding in here.)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vimak pulls the body out of the doorway. He gestures for the kids and the women to stay quiet, pulling the body along a west wall where it can't bee seen from room with the skeletons in it.
He listens for whomever the dead Redbrand was speaking to: 17.
"The skeletons look up when they see someone. I bet they do more than that if we move into the room." Vimak knows nothing about magic. He asks Cirrus, "but why not the Redbrands?"
(Totally unrelated, but on that discussion of using spell scrolls, I was just reading my Dungeon Master’s Guide, and found the following on page 139, “... any creature that can understand a written language can read the script on a scroll and attempt to activate it.”)

(i'll tell you now Vimak, the other redbrand isn't there so there's nothing to hear but glad you're motivated! I figure a sit-rep is due.)
Currently you have managed to, eventually break or unlock all the collars and both cell doors. it seems the door into the room isn't lockable. You have your party, the woman and 3 children. The corpse of a redbrand who all but got coudegras'd. You know there's no other redbrand in the area, for now, and you know that the three skeletons so far haven't attacked, but are clearly animated and very reactive.
Bastille who is still invisible assess the situation. She remembers that the Red Brands don't seem to trigger any reaction from the skeletons. She searches the Red Brand corpse for anything that might act like some sort of "Key" to make the skeletons allow the party to pass without issue.
Investigation: 20
If she doesn't find anything like that,
she will say to the party, "Let's try something. Someone put on the Red Brand's clothing and peek out the door to see if the skeletons react."
(Guys, we’re not taking the other prisoners with us, are we?)
