"Hmm," Vimak says. "I don't think it's true love." He watches Cirrus and Halia, hand not far from his throwing ax.
"Cragmaw could be difficult." He squats to pick up the bags of coin and tosses one to Bastille. "I wonder if there is anyone else in town who could help us? What do you think?" he says. "Would that Sildar work with us?"
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Halia walks with Cirrus in tow, leading him a few buildings away, and just around the corner for privacy. Just barely within the limit of his 'range' and leans in close. Whispering conspiratorially, and low. I'm sorry for all the vaguarity. But I couldn't say this in front of either of the other two. I believe that one or both of them may be Zhentarim agents. If you don't know who they are.. the Zhents.. are an organization of very very bad people. They like to steal into places, and through espionage or extortion .. pretendign to be heroes...take over places. Entire towns... Cities... I was sent here to keep an eye out for them when the Brands moved in. And I've had my eyes on the brands ever since, but they grew.. too fast.
But now that there is a ..'hole' in the power vacuum here... they might try to move in. How much do you know about your friends? How long have you known them? Can they really.. be trusted? Are you certain that one of them isn't a Zhent?
"Well I haven't known them for long, but I trust Vimak absolutely. Bastille doesn't seem like the type who would want to take control of a whole town, she seems like she'd be more content keeping to herself, hoping people don't bother her. If what you say is true, how can you be so sure that I am not the agent? After all, I am the most directly responsible for the creation of the power vacuum, and if anyone would stand to benefit from it, it would be me. Why, if I were to try to seize power in some manner, these people would trust me implicitly I'm sure. What reason do you have to suspect any of us anyhow?"
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
I have a good knack for telling. I've been in this business for a long time. And .. not out of disrespect, but, you're too nice to be 'that.' You care for others.... I did see you running after that poor child, though I didn't know where you went after that. So clearly you have too big-a-heart to be a dastardly villain. And you may be right about those two, but you may also be wrong. I'd.. Like you to keep an eye on them for me... Keep me informed of any.. suspicious behaviors.
To put it bluntly, I'm wanting to deputize you. I'm with the Lords Alliance, Like Sildar, the man who came into town with you folks is. And it's our sworn duty to make sure the peace in the land is kept. So All I'm asking is for you to keep an eye on your 'friends' and report back to me every couple days. Using this......she says, as she produces a small stone from between her breasts. It was dark as the void of the night, with softly glowing runes This here, is a Sending Stone. Attuned directly to me.
Can I count on you to help the realm be safer? Better to be safe than sorry....
Cirrus takes the stone, “I don’t think either of my friends are secret evil agents, so there’s no reason for me to refuse. Is there any specific behavior I should be looking for? Or anything specific about the Zhentarim that I should know?” He receives an answer. “There’s probably not going to be much to report, Vimak is just as nice as I am. By the way, what languages do you speak? If there’s any we share then that could help me keep my reports more secure.” If she speaks Auran, celestial, or primordial, then cirrus will deliver his reports in that language, if she speaks more than one of those let me know which ones. “While I have you, do you know anything about someone named Iarno? He is an associate of Sildar. We have some reason he was at least held by the red brands at some point.”
I also want to make an insight check to see if Hali’s withholding any specific information from me: 7

"We rescued Sildar before you joined us," Vimak says. "He was working with a dwarf. I'll bet he'll want us to go looking for him. Which I'm happy to do, but those Redbrands really bug me." He extends his arm, holding the sword Talon. "This is a fine blade. I'll have to examine it time we rest."
Bastille says, "I see. I thought he was just someone who knew about the Red Brands. Asking him may be a good idea. Perhaps the dwarf's disappearance and the Red Brands are connected somehow if we're lucky. Then it would mean slaying two birds with one stone."

Well.. Halia says, It's always the people you least suspect. As for behavior... Zhents tend to be arrogant... overly confident, and tend not to enjoy being 'pried' - Or to be more laymans ... They dislike you prodding into their motives. As they are a secretive organization. Assuming they don't simply lie to you. Languages? Common, and Goblin.. funnily enough. Iarno? she queries, as the questions pour in, and she answers them as quickly as she can.
There was a man by that name a while back, came through town. He disappeared around the time the Redbrands and Glasstaff set up shop here..... Not sure if there's any connection though.
As Cirrus attempts to scrutinize her actions and words for falsety, 12 she seems to be exceedingly on-the-level. If anything, Cirrus feels she really is concerned with her partners potentialyl being Zhents, or at the very least concerned with the realm as a whole.
In any case citizen, thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to your reports. But run along back to your friends, before they get too suspicious.

"My suggestion is," Vimak says as Cirrus returns, "that we rest tonight and start seeing who is willing to help us hunt Redbrands early tomorrow morning." He looks at Cirrus. "Assuming that doesn't interfere with any commitments you've made, Cirrus? Was she hoping to employ us?" Vimak continues to consider his new longsword. "Do we want to rest at Stone Hill Inn, was it? or back among the bodies in the manor?"
"No she wasn't planning to hire us, since we're going after them regardless. Seems senseless to spend the night amongst the bodies of our enemies when you have a perfectly fine inn room available. As for myself, my arrangements have already been made separate from the inn, I will see you in the morning to continue our pursuit of the murderous vagabonds. Until then, good night." Unless there is anything any of the party members wish to say to him, he will go to Stella's home.

"See you here in the morning," Vimak says. "Good luck!" Vimak heads to the inn. He pays for a room and takes a long rest. In the morning, he will go looking for Sildar. Once they find him, Vimak will try to persuade him to help them go in search of the Cragmar: 5.
Bastille agrees with Cirrus' sentiments. "In deed. There is nothing to gain from sleeping back at the abandoned hideout. In fact it may even prove somewhat hazardous."
As Cirrus begins saying goodbyes, For the first time since you've since her, Bastille's expression changes from cold and serious to playful and impish as she teases, "Made plans with for a wonderful night I take it? Is our beloved bard in love?"
At first Cirrus is surprised to hear such playfulness from Bastille, but his expression melts into relief and cheer, he thinks to himself, "as if some evil Zhentarim would be so light-hearted and playful. Halia doesn't know what she's talking about. She doesn't know these two like I do." He then puts on a face of faux embarrassment in response to Bastille's teasing, "Well I wouldn't go so far as to call it love, but I wouldn't keep it off the table, either." He then gets a bit contemplative, "Something about her feels...different from Luneth's flirtations?"

Still smiling, Bastille says in somewhat of an elder sisterly tone, "I see I see. Well you are at the age for love it believe. Go and have a wonderful time now. And play nice." She bids Cirrus goodbye for the night.
Vimak and Bastille eventually head to the inn, Paying their 2 GP for the night, finding the beds of the inn to be extra comfortable, whether it be due to the quality of the inn, or the complete lack of comfort they've had for days. Both finding a peaceful nights sleep.
The people Cirrus had sought earlier were nowhere to be found, and thus little Carp, recently Orphaned followed along quietly, tiredly.
At Stella's home, Cirrus knocks on the door, and announces himself. To which he gets initially no response. After a few minutes of awkward standing alone at the door, it opens, And Stella peeks out, looking shocked. O-oh... I uh... Didn't expect you tonight.... she says, her eyes catchign a glance of Carp who was barely visible behind Cirrus' legs, and for a moment, Cirrus had forgotten he was there. And you brought your boy with you?
(I will keep an eye on the thread for the next few hours to make this conversation go faster, sorry for delays, holiday season)
(Okay, let's pause this moment and go back in time if we can, and I'd like to say that once Cirrus found that the people of the orchard were missing, he would take them to the Townmaster since that's where the other orphans went, and explain the situation to whoever is there to receive them the situation. Since I don't think Cirrus would just walk carp to the orchard and just walk away without a second thought. Ideally, I want to. are sure Carp has somewhere safe to sleep tonight before I go to Stella's house.)
So now under the assumption that Carp is taken care of, we return to the scene, with Carp absent this time. He looks a bit surprised and embarrassed at his own (evidently) unexpected arrival. "Oh, is now a bad time? I was just afraid that if I didn't show up after you gave me your address you might think I was rejecting you, if you'd rather I can sleep at the inn tonight and maybe drop by tomorrow morning for a breakfast chat?"
