"The sewers throughout the city run along with the streets above. There is plenty of room for a group of halflings to sneak around. We could all go down below if we wanted. You just have to worry about the large rodents, creeping oozes, or the occasional creature roaming up from the upper part of the underdark."
"Perhaps we should check the shop first. See how it might connect to the sewers. It's still early yet. First though, let us check the Pantry." Laza replies, heading to the shop that has already been hit.
“You know, I’m not going to be any use to you guys checking out shops. And I would hate Harpy to have to go all the way down in the sewers, since she has spoken against it. Why don’t Ruhvon, myself, and maybe one more go check out the sewers while you lot scope out topside? This way both get done before dark and we have time to plan.” Brayton states, clearly getting impatient.
Harpy nods, "now that sounds like a great idea. I am not really against you lot going down into the dirty smelly sewer, rather I am against my going down there and ruining a perfectly good outfit! But your way lets us kill two birds with one stone with the group topside checking the other spots before dark."
OK, if you want to split the party, please let me know who's going in which group and where each group's going and I'll let you know what you each find!
If I've read your intentions right, Harpy and Laza are going to investigate the stationer's and Ruhvon and Brayton are going into the sewers? Erik and Rothnar, where would you like to go?
Laza will first check the Pantry, having heard that it had been hit by the gang. His plan is to go to the stationary shop after learning more (if possible) about their methods.
Walking into the shop he'll look around ((perception 20)), then look to the shopkeeper and say the same as he did at the last shop "You were hit by the red halflings yes? And you are protected by the Silver Blades yes? Justice will be met. Tell us what happened."

Erik let's out a big sigh "I am not particular keen on spliting up but if we have to Rothnar stay with them (gesturing to Harpy and Laza) and I'll go with Brayton and Ruhvon."

OK, so Ruhvon, Brayton and Erik are heading down into the sewer and Rothanr, Harpy and Laza are going into the Pantry.
As Rothanr, Harpy and Laza step (or fly) into the Pantry you're hit by the smell of delicious freshly baked bread. The interior of the store is as carefully laid out as the displays outside it. Fruit and vegetables lie along one table, baked goods and dairy products down the middle of the shop and meat along another edge. A couple of customers mill about, browsing the food. An oven sits at the back of the shop and you can see a variety of baked goods sitting inside it.

Walking into the shop he'll look around ((perception 20)), then look to the shopkeeper and say the same as he did at the last shop "You were hit by the red halflings yes? And you are protected by the Silver Blades yes? Justice will be met. Tell us what happened."
As you look around Laza, you notice:
Some of the customers are counting their coins, clearly trying to work out how to make their budget stretch to feeding their families. All the food here is edible, but it's by no means fancy. There's a conspicuous gap on the shelf with the meat that looks like it was some kind of display and is now empty.
The owner of the shop who you address is a large red-skinned dragonborn. As you speak his eyes flair "Yes, I was hit by those ruddy crooks! What is the point of paying you 'protection money' if I'm going to get robbed anyway?! I hope you're not going to be as useless as that half-orc Todi that came around! You offer justice! Well, you'd better deliver! Preferably one of their heads!" He's fuming, both metaphorically and literally as wisps of smoke curl from his nostrils.

Harpy, you notice:
The shop has one kind of sweetmeat for sale. It's not your favourite, but it's still pretty good.
Meanwhile, Ruhvon manages to easily open the entrance to the sewer. There's a knack to opening these manholes, but you've had a lot of practice. As the three of you descend the ladder about ten feet below the surface your senses are assaulted. The smell down here is truly atrocious - a mixture of rotten food and excrement from all kinds of races has given the place a powerful odour that assaults your nostrils. There's also a loud sound of rushing water which seems to echo off of the walls. Ruhvon and Brayton, your eyes take a few seconds to adjust to the almost pitch-black but it's dark enough that Erik can barely see at all until Brayton lights his torch.
The sewers are about seven feet high and fifteen feet wide. The room stretches far into the distance in either direction, beyond the distance the torchlight or your darkvision can penetrate. The middle five feet or so of the room is filled with a deep fast-moving channel filled with water which rushes in the direction of Hangman's Lane. The remainder of the width of the room is taken up by a five feet wide walkway on either side of the channel. You should be able to proceed with relative ease. The wall and floors are covered with a thin layer of slime. It's best not to think about what might make it up.
Ruhvon:
This looks and smells like a normal stretch of sewer, although the water is high and fast as a result of the extra rainwater.
(OOC: Yes, Ruhvon would head down to the sewers to scout a bit. How far are we from Pudding Lane?)
If the sewer follows the route of the roads above, you'd need to head about a hundred feet towards Hangman's Lane, go fifty yards to the right and then Pudding Lane should be on the left.
Brayton lifts the lid to enter the sewer for Ruhvon and follow after him. From there he will help with looking for anything noteworthy. Lighting a torch to give some extra light.
If you're looking around, give me a perception check.

Laza nods, replying "That's why we're here. What can you tell us about how they got in, or what was taken?"
When they get below Ruhvon searches the area immediately below the cover, looking for signs of supplies being staged for some sort of heist of the shop above. He slides his shield off his back and begins to poke through any piles of rubbish that may have gathered nearby.
Investigation: 15
"Watch the water. It's deeper than it looks, with a channel going through the middle. The water moves fast as well with all this rain. Maybe some caution is in order so we don't all float below."The half-drow pulls the rope from his pack and begins to secure it to his waist and motions for the others to do the same. When the small group is ready to move out, he suggests, "To Pudding Lane to see if we can find any signs of their base...?"
(I was hoping for Ruhvon to roll with advantage, but here we go): 17
Oh, I see. Sorry, misunderstood. Still, at least you rolled well!
You notice along the ceilings above the main waterway a number of small openings, each about a foot across. You surmise these must be where the latrines from the various houses and shops must discharge into the water. Through your knowledge of the layout of the streets above you work out which one relates to the Pantry. You see a number of scrape marks near the entrance and on the inside of the vertical pipe, similar to the ones Erik noticed in the toilet of Katar's Emporium. On the ground nearby you find two potion bottles identical to one that Erik found in Katar's bathroom. One of them even has some of the same liquid in it.

"What was taken?! They took the my preserves collection! I've been collecting pickled things for years - fruit, meat, parts of magical creatures and so on. I thought the collection made a good centrepiece for the shop. Must have been worth a few hundred gold in total - some of those items were pretty rare. As for how they got in, I don't know. It was the middle of the night and I was asleep upstairs. I heard some noises down here and when I came down there was an odd scampering noise between the counters. Couldn't see anything above the counters so it must have been something pretty tiny. Then I saw my collection was gone! I searched the shop, hoping I could teach whoever broke in a lesson, but couldn't find anyone, or the source of the noise. None of the doors opened or anything so I'm damned if I know where they went. Now, I've answered your blasted questions, are you going to catch the bastards responsible or not?!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Trying to understand why the thieves would want a collection of preserves, Laza turns to Rothanr and says "Help me look around." and turning back to the owner asks "Is there anywhere in your shop that connects to the sewers? Perhaps where you dispose of your waste?"
investigation12 ((hoping Rothanr will join in the search~ or help19 ^^ ))
Harpy walks up to the shopkeeper, "not to worry, we are looking into who is behind the recent rash of burglaries and will catch them soon enough. But until then please give me a dozen of those sweatmeats there," she points, "six in one bag and six in a separate bag if you would be so kind."
After paying for the sweetmeats Harpy will place one bag inside her pack to take home to Pike and the other bag she will keep a hold of so she can snack on the treats inside while continuing to look around the shop. Even giving Laza a hand and Help him should he require assistance with anything.
Brayton shares his findings with his group. Noting the similar bottles and scratch marks “I think they are turning themselves into small critters and climbing through the plumbing to avoid detection and alarms. Might be able to set a better trap now we know where they are coming in at.” then he follows the group to the next location.
