The party successfully retreats off the boat to the dock. Mort is even able to snag one barrel of wine on his floating disk. The slaves are left to their own. You are unsure if they made it or not but some seem to be fleeing when you left. The 2 cooks and 1 sleeping pirate survived and now know what you look like. The group decided to find a inn and settle in for the long night (long rest). They have many questions still and only a few hints to go by.
Well comrades, now that we have all had some time to recover it is time to press on. We know that this necromancer has a predilection for female slaves so this is likely where my daughter has ended up. We need to do some reconnaissance at the local tavern and we can also spend our newfound coin at the shops, but we should all remain together. The dark riders have been alerted to our presence and they are probably quite angry with us slaughtering a whole boatload of their men.
Nedrik, you seem to have a gift with words. When we go to the tavern why don’t you see what information you can glean from the locals about the location of this necromancer.
OOC: The best time to go to the tavern is at evening, so you guys will have to day to go shopping if you desire. Just be on the look out for dark riders. If anyone wants to buy anything in particular, post it. Shopping is not a big deal and we will continue the story by going to the tavern here shortly. If you are delayed in posting your shopping it will be easy to retcon.
Nedrick smiles back at Hunding and admires his muscles.
"We all have our strengths my large friend. Be close and we will get the truth on your daughter. One way or another. I heard you all speaking of the letter earlier and the mention of this Captain Crook."
Nedrick puts his hand to his chin.
"You see, the slaver left the boat to go get the captain and reinforcements. Perhaps they themselves were frequenting a tavern. Three individuals have laid eyes on us. They are the ones we need to watch for. If anyone spots them, we will need to deal with them effectively and quickly. First things first, I need to replenish my supplies. Shall we do a bit of shopping? Perhaps Parlay with a shopkeeper or two? I for one will need a new rope and I would enjoy a new Studded Leather."
Nedrick stands up to go outside as he says to Hunding.
"Tell me more of your daughter, Sir Hunding. What does she look like?"
Perception Check for Dark Riders when we start walking to shop: 22
She has her mother’s green eyes and her father’s black hair. Fortunately is the only trait that she seemed to take from me. I have never been known for my looks
"Non-sense!" Nedrick says to Hunding, "I see a handsome face under all that hair. A bath and a few moments with my dagger and you would be ravishing!" Nedrick says laughingly.
Nedrick then in all seriousness says to Hunding.
"I can see in your eyes you will go to great lengths and end many lives to get your daughter back. I ask that you have a deep conversation with yourself for how far you are willing to go. A moment will come. A dark moment. I need to know you will do what needs to be done."
Nedrick then turns to Mort.
"And you Wizard. You are a fan of the drink but seem to be able to keep your wits about you. Are you feeling up for a dice game this evening? It may be a way to get some folks speaking this evening."
my good sir, i assure you *hiccup* im always willing to roll the dice. These old bones need the excitement, and this empty purse could use the coin. Lady luck shall cradle us deep within her bosom and we’ll make out like bandits. haha*hiccup*....oh and info for our long haird friend...of course.
Mort takes a swig from his flask.
(prior to the tavern)
mort sells his ruby amulet(50g) and stolen barrel of wine(12g) before meeting a man about buying a new flask and a set of dice
Mort is able to sell the barrel of wine for 12 gp.
In the morning on the way out to market, Nedrick asks the lady up front for information on local taverns. She informs him that there is one close by called the Nauseous Narwhal. From the outside it looks cheerful, enchanting and delightful. Clay bricks and well-crafted wooden beams make up most of the building's outer structure. It's impossible to see through the small, curtained windows, but the energy and excitement from within can be felt outside.
As you enter the tavern through the thick, wooden door, you're welcomed by a feeling of comfort and dancing people. The bartender is engaged in a conversation, but still manages to welcome you with a wink.
It's as lovely inside as it is on the outside. Rounded, wooden beams support the upper floor and the fans attached to them. The walls are covered in photographs of personal achievements, all related to the nearby mountain. Some of people who reached the summit, others simply of happy people..
The tavern itself is packed. Passing traders seem to be the primary clientele here, which could be seen as a bad sign, though you're sure it's not. Several long tables are occupied by, what seems to be the entire surrounding village. The other, smaller tables are also occupied by people who clearly enjoy each other's company, though they seem to be strangers who have met here. Even most of the stools at the bar are occupied, though nobody seems to mind more company.
You did hear rumors about this tavern from the innkeeper, supposedly it's famous for something, but you can't remember what for. Though judging by the amount of men staring at one of the waitresses, it's probably her beauty and charm. You all manage to find a seat and prepare for what will undoubtedly be a great evening.
Double Dice Deluxe: place your bets, roll two individual d6, highest roll wins. rolling doubles trumps high rolls. highest set of doubles win if multiple doubles are cast. snake eyes beat everything.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
**PRIOR TO TAVERN**
Nedrick would like to purchase a rope for 2gp and Studded Leather for 45gp if possible. He would then like to sell his old Leather Armor.
Nedrick before dark and going to the Tavern Nedrick will first bring out his Disguise Kit. He let's his long dark hair down and uses the dye to put in streaks red. He then uses the cosmetics to darken his eyes with eye shadow and uses wax to make his beard nice and tight. He wears his fine clothes on top of his new Studded Armor.
