"No way will we catch the boudoir bros, unless they want to lets us catch them." Aleister scratched his bald head, "I am not sure what to make of all this, but such attempts to behead a single serpent in a pit full doesn't seem strategically sound. And I can't see how a mundane minion like that jerk could stir up CUT to come all this way just to whack him; unless he had some sort of arrangement with them that he failed to come through on."
OCC Max is a Divinely Manipulated (DM for short) member of the party, as least until he makes a ... dubious move and is cashiered.
"Blast! It appears that, if we want to know anything, we'll be heading for 'Big Sky Country'," Aleister repositioned his hat. "That would be Montana for those not familiar with the phrase. Hunting is good there; and, remembering the Apaches down south, I am will to bet we can find allies among the Lakota and Blackfeet. Don't imagine they will have any truck with the likes of CUT. Not unless they have re-invigorated the art of scalping anyway."

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
“So that town you are talking about is your base of operations? The way you talk about it, seems to be pretty darn safe in there. Mind if I come with you?”
"Yeah, we're based in Yachats. Better than a lot of the surviving towns these days. So long as you pull your weight and play nicely, we'd be glad to have you," Sarah responds.

"Yeah, I don't think we'd survive in CUT territory long. Looking for allies might be a good idea but let's try locally first and find out what the damage was with the assassinations."

Fire bolt- Shoot a streaking ball of fire towards a foe and deal a measly 1d10 fire damage. Use eldritch blast instead.
Fireball - Drawing magic from your inner reserves, you unleash a devastating nuke that explodes in a circle, hitting multiple enemies, and burning them to a crisp with a godly amount of 8d6 fire damage. Make your DM’s fights look like garbage. It’s also a nice way of TPK your entire party and have them triggered at you for the rest of the week.

Thomas finds a comfortable spot and prepares to 'Send' a message back home. Just as he is about to start he gets a message from Doc.
"MacKenzie raid into PPA territory has captured Matilda Arminger. Baron Lui to negotiate release. Travel to Mount Hood Village as backup during talks."
Thomas responds with his own, terse message "CUT assassin ninjas attacked Lord target. Saved his life, he owes us. On on way to Mount Hood Village." And then tells the rest of the group the details. He'll call back for more info, such as the time they have to be there, and the contact onsite.

‘Who are the MacKenzies? Who is Matilda Arminger? And also, who is Baron Lui?’ asked Blaize who was unfamiliar with the names of these people.
OOC: Of course, a plot hook we must bite
Mathilda Arminger: The daughter of Norman and Sandra and heir to the throne of the PPA, which she will inherit on her 26th birthday. Currently 7 years old
Eddie Liu: A former ********er who moved up quickly in the ranks of the PPA to become the Baron of Gervais. Eddie had a grudge against Juniper who killed his friend while they were looting a store in Corvallis shortly after the Change.
Clan Mackenzie is a Georgian Wiccanclan founded by folk-singer and High Priestess Juniper Mackenzie and members of her Singing Moon coven who fled to her country home. After being rebuilt into a fortified homestead, the home was renamed Dun Juniper and became the capital of the faction. The Clan includes several other Duns that were built as the population expanded, as well as the walled city of Sutterdown, which is based on the town of Brownsville.
Clan Mackenzie's weapon of choice is the longbow, but in hand-to-hand fighting they use the gladius and buckler.
The Clan practices religious freedom, but there are few non-Wiccans in the population, mostly due to mass conversions after the Change. The heraldic symbol of the clan is a crescent moon above silver elk horns on green. The Mackenzie tartan is colored green, brown, and black, with thin orange piping. This is not the color of the historical Clan Mackenzie, whose tartan is white, red, green, and blue.
"I think what's more interesting is that the two groups have chosen our group to be an arbiter/negotiator. If our reputation for fair and just policies and culture has that much effect, we must be doing something right." Thomas looks at the map, judging likely paths to take them safely closer to the target mountain. "We should ride around Portland's defenses Southwards, then turn East once well past them. As long as avoid any confrontations, we should be able to get on a road towards Oregon City and then proceed East. I'll keep up the Steeds as we ride, if someone could keep the Longstrider refreshed on them. Nothing will be able to catch us at their full speed, and they never get tired, so we can gallop on open roads."
OOC - Not sure how wide of an area the PPA runs their empire, so adjust the safe zone as needed.
Upon agreement of their paths, Thomas begins creating the Steeds for the group, and refreshes them at need from horse back. To keep track of the order, he has a digit appear on the haunches, glowing slightly.

A raid? What the heck?! Why would the MacKenzies raid the PPA?
"This doesn't sound good. What's been going on to cause the MacKenzies to go raiding?"
