Dreel nods in agreement, whispering as quietly as he can "The sooner we can get out of here the better....." Part of the Tortle was relaxing a bit as he knew his transformation would be done soon, however this also meant he would be a bit more vulnerable and not hit as hard, but at the moment he was out of his element and just ready to play his part in whatever plan the group went with.
"Hm, the creature appears to be a chimera, and my suspicion is we don't want to tangle with it. Even if it is injured." Ignus turns back to the group, invisible. "I'm going to scout up ahead. I'll motion to Jaylen or communicate with Clipclop if I need help or if there's anything interesting uncovered."
Ignus starts moving as quietly as he can toward the other sounds and the Draconic speech.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rutah takes a moment to recall if he'd heard anything about chimeras before. Then he asks the group, "What do you know about chimeras? Are we able to reason with them?"
Ignus disappears from everyone’s sight, and with the clicking still echoing and the scraping of the Chimera’s claws, he moves without a sound. Clipclop can see through Ignus’ eyes, but the rest have no idea where Ignus is or what he is doing.
The creature continues slowly walking forward, but the whispers stop soon after Ignus disappears. (Dreel shifts back to his tortle form)
Ignus (and Clipclop)
Nearing the creature Ignus, and through him, Clipclop, both notice that the whispers are coming from the creature. Slowly nearing the moving chimera, the whispers die down and besides the scraping of the creature’s claws and the clicking sound still echoing from somewhere far below, there doesn’t seem to be any other sounds. Still not caught up with the creature, Ignus passes one of the doorways where the door had fully disintegrated through the years. The room is mostly empty, save for bookshelves made of polished stone and books that line their shelves. Some of the books had fallen off the shelves and are now piled on the floor, but all have long degraded far beyond use. They are nothing but dust and colourless covers.
A whisper comes again from the chimera. However, this time it’s in a different language. Much softer spoken and the language itself more pleasant to the ear. Neither Ignus nor Clipclop had ever heard it before. The creature continues forward in silence, slowly making its way towards the end of the hall where large, heavy doors hang on its latches, cracked open.
Chimera. The word doesn’t sound familiar to Rutah. However, Dreel recalls hearing that word before - superiors in the order had mentioned such creatures.
(OOC: @Dreel, roll History if you want to try and recall more information. @Anyone who is proficient in history can roll to see if they recall anything, or if you’re proficient in arcana you can instead roll to see what you know about the nature of the creature)
Dreel's muscles and the coarse fur shrink and retract, his tusks shrinking back down to simply be the two pseudo tusks peaking out from his under bite as well as his porcine snout returning to the snub nosed turtle as he puzzles over anything he can remember about Chimeras.
Dreel recalls conversations he’d overheard visiting the orders sanctuary. The Chimeras had been becoming a nuisance in the northern wilds, but from what Dreel could recall of the conversations, no one seemed certain whether or not that was the orders concern, and since the creatures kept to the hills and mountains of the wilds, they might be beneficial in keeping the hoard at bay – ‘let enemies kill enemies’. He also recalls a remark that the creatures are generally solitary and cant be reasoned with.
Jaylen
Jaylen can’t recall anything about the nature of the creature in front of him. However, he remembers reading old text on how the Chimeras were made. Magically combining the different species left them lacking in speech, but they still seemed able to understand draconic, so they could receive orders and could prove useful tools. He also recalls reading about the question of their fertility - whether they could, or even should, breed naturally.
(OOC: @Ignus; how close do you want to get to it and what exactly are you looking to do/try/find out?)
Ignus will keep following it at whatever he considers a "safe" distance (he'll be mindful of its movements and if it seems to become alert, Ignus will stop). He wants to see if the creature ventures between the doors. If so, he'll attempt to sneak up and look through.
The chimera continues forward for a long moment before it comes to a halt. It starts shifting and sniffing the air. One of the heads turns far enough for everyone to see. A goat’s head covered in short, dark brown fur. It seems to be glancing around as it sniffs the air. Luckily the creature does not look far enough to notice everyone waiting for Ignus to return.
Ignus (and Clipclop)
As the chimera fidgets and turns, it looks straight at Ignus. Goat’s, lion’s and dragon’s head, all sniffing the air, all looking in his direction. Its many eyes seem to stop on Ignus and linger there. The creature inhales deeply and takes a single step towards Ignus. Then, its lion head drops to the floor where it sniffs a few times before lifting its head back up and moving on. Slowly continuing towards the end of the hall.
(OOC: @Ignus and Clipclop, roll perception check pls)
(OOC: @Jaylen, its been about 2-3 min so you would still have a while to go. @Clipclop, sorry, should have reminded you of that, but you would also have an advantage since you only have to observe the situation and not concentrate on staying hidden/stealthy. Also are you conveying what you see to everyone else? If you are, I will not put your perspective in spoilers since everyone would know! :) )
Ignus
Trying not to move or make a sound, Ignus fails to notice anything about the beast looking in his direction.
Clipclop
Not actually present in the dangerous situation, Clipclop has a steady mind to observe the chimera. The creature seems to have caught Ignus’ scent, but as it didn’t see or hear anything, it becomes uninterested and begins to move on. In the short time Ignus’ eyes were directed at the creature’s head, Clipclop noticed something strange in the lion’s short mane. It looks like something is tangled between the mane’s fur between the ears of the lion’s head.
The Chimera turns once again towards the large, heavy door at the end of the hall. It yelps in pain as it begins to walk once more and shifts its weight to its front right foot. After few minutes of walking along the hall the creature reaches the door at the far end. It nuzzles and sniffs through the small gap that hangs open in the door. After a few attempts at pushing the doors open and scratching at it, the chimera lifts itself on its hind legs and slams its full weight into the door, which breaks off its hinges and slams onto the floor.
As the door slams onto the ground and a gust of air pushes past Ignus, he and Clipclop are hit with the sent of blood and decaying meat.

"I don't think this is going to go well, we might have to fight. Prepare yourselves." Rutah says to the party as they wait for Ignus to return.
OOC: Rutah is ready to dash to the chimera if combat does begin.
Hearing this Dreel is stretching his neck, flexing his claws a bit, the lightning still softly pulsing along his body but ready to change once more.
OOC: Holding my Hybrid Transformation for if we decide to attack/get attacked.
If Jaylen has not finished his detect magic ritual by this point he will drop it and cast Shillalegh in preparation for battle at Rutah's words.
