Singeing. Singeing sounds okay. Brask rubs his neck with one hand idly, thinking it through. No shaving. That's out. Shoot lightning bolts at me, I'm okay with that. If I'm leaving my armour, that's gonna be a problem, though. Anyways. Let's see what happens. Brasks heads to the stream, strips, and if he can he submerges himself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Effort beckons to Cadmael. Help me out... at least let the guy preserve his dignity, she tells the bird.
Cadmael swoops low, channeling Effort's magic for her. On the plus side, Brask's modesty or lack thereof is maintained, as he's spared the embarrassment of having Effort hovering directly over him to deliver the spell. On the other hand, Effort reflects, she probably should have warned Brask about her alternative method of shocking him, as Cadmael grabs onto one of Brask's horns, talons rippling with spell energy.
Brask mostly maintains his composure, although the shock does hurt quite a bit. As it courses over him, the smell of burning hair starts to fill his nostrils, at least a sign that the plan might have worked. The rest of you watch as the electricity dies down and curls of gray smoke rise off the minotaur's singed hair. His fur still seems mostly even, although a few spots were burned worse than others - it's a bit splotchy.
OOC: I love the fact that a random encounter roll that produced skunks turned into this, haha.
Brask dives back down under the water, letting it wash away the worst of the smell of burning and hopefully the skunk smell as well. After half a minute he resurfaces. Meh, barely felt it.
He sniffs himself a few times - how does he smell?
Effort, in the meanwhile, is busily using the remains of Brask's cloth clothing to start the campfire for the evening. Once that is set up, she sighs as she eyes her tent fabric, then begins to slowly work at the stitching with her small knife, separating the canvas into cloths that can be used to create some clothing for Brask.
Brask, you press your snout into the fur on your forearm and inhale deeply. There's a mix of smoke and skunk - it's still there - but it's much less harsh than it was before. When you look up and breathe again, it's noticeably clearer.
Effort, your work is certainly adequate. Brask's new pants are a big snug - nobody would be surprised if they split during your next fight - but it covers...well, ya know. The important parts.
"There you go," Effort says, throwing the pants at Brask. She throws the rest of the tent fabric at him too. "Just wrap that around yourself as a cloak. Now as to your armor... it's chain, so it will survive a heating," she says, throwing it into the fire. Then, concentrating, she uses thaumaturgy to ensure that the more delicate bits of the armor remain undamaged, while the heat of the flame cleanses the metal of the skunk stink.
"Burik... can you set up camp? I'm a little busy right now," Effort mumbles, still concentrating on disinfecting Brask's armor. She asks the same of Cadmael...
Keep watch, please... I will be busy for a good while again, I fear.
Cadmael keeps an eye out for danger from above, Perception: 17
Perking up at the news his armour is salvageable, Brask tries on his temporary clothes. Tight. They made us wear things like this in the arena sometimes. The ladies liked it a lot. Then he scowls, and doesn't say anything else as he wanders off, sniffing at his fur and testing the smell, as well as trying to get comfortable in the tight pants. After a while he stops and turns back to Effort: Hey. Thanks. Then he walks off a ways, continuing to inspect his singed fur and pick at the patches.
The night passes quietly. When you wake, Cadmael is there. No dangers to report, he thinks. There was a small fire lit off in the distance, south and west, along the mountain. And another source of light south and to the east. It looked further away and possibly bigger - a town? It was tough to see, but was down the slope of the mountains in the valley beyond.
Effort wakes up ravenous, having been too exhausted after her work in the evening to bother with a meal. She pulls out a ration and manages to swallow the hard tack down somehow... the homemade venison jerky looks so very tempting in that moment, but she manages to keep her hands away from it, resolving to save it for a special, happier occassion than having survived a skunk stink attack.
"Well," she says to the others as she cleans up her campsite, "At least my pack is lighter now." She stops for a moment to eye Brask in his too-tight leather pants, now-blackened chainmail armor, ragged flapping cloak, and currently-dappled fur. "It's a look," she says to him helpfully. "Though perhaps some clothes shopping is in order at our next village stop. Which is, by the way, most likely to the south and east of us, according to Cadmael. You wouldn't happen to know what town that is, would you Burik?"
Effort proceeds to detail what Cadmael saw last night, waiting to see where the group wants to go. She subconsciously stands towards the southeastern path, though, her nostrils still twitching a bit at the very faint scent of Eau d'Skunk still wafting around Brask.
(No matter where the party goes, Cadmael would be scouting:) Cadmael Stealth: 20 Cadmael Perception: 21
OOC: Sorry all - we moved into a new place this weekend! Seems I didn't miss much. Hope everyone is adjusting to this new way of life (I'm in NJ where things are pretty damn serious already).
Cadmael takes the morning to scout out the locations he noticed the evening before. The smaller source of light came from the middle of nowhere. It was to the southwest along the mountains (as you're heading toward the southern coast), but there are no established settlements the owl can find. Perhaps it was a camp or a small wildfire. He easily finds the town to the southeast, although it's further off your path. It looks like a moderately sized village - not too big, not too small. It would be a detour of a few hours to get there. The coast lies straight to your south, and is still a day or two away, although you've noticed the mountains aren't quite as towering as they were yesterday morning.
Burik, you can roll history to see what you know about the village, your current whereabouts, etc.
"The coast is still a day or two away, while the next village is only a few hours. As long as they have milk or vinegar, it's a detour worth making," Effort tells the others, pointing towards the southeastern path. "Believe me... the smell of the Carrion Coast on its own will be oppresive enough. Let's enjoy the sweetness of the air here while we can."
Burik, there was never much reason to travel south from your mining village. Most of civilization was to the west, or over the mountains and to the east. But you do know there are a few settlements scattered throughout the southern coast. Most are human or humanoid. You're guessing you'll be able to get any simple supplies you need.
It takes you until mid-afternoon, but you make it to the forested village without much incident. There's a smaller path that veers to the right of the one you were following straight south, and it takes you right up to the village. It's small - maybe about the size of the dwarven village you just came from - but there are people milling about. You spot a few wood elves as well. There seems to be a small market in the center of town that is attracting most of the foot traffic. It seems as though it's mostly food being sold there - vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, dried meat, and so on. There's also a general store, a combined tavern and inn, and some other small shops that don't really stand out.

He grins over at Effort. Do your worst!

Cadmael delivering Effort's "attack": 7 shock damage
The owl flaps away to safety as the water around Brask sparks up while the spell electrocutes the minotaur.
"Sorry!" Effort mouths from the water's edge, tail lashing nervously.

Brask, give me a constitution check.
Effort, roll...sleight of hand? Or whatever else you think might apply to this situation. Straight dex?

Brask's CON check: 7
Let's say sleight of hand, although I'd love to shill for performance I'm afraid of what Effort would actually create. XD

Milk and vinegar, Brask repeats, scowling and still picking through his fur. Well, fine, let's get to it. Maybe you go first? I'll stay downwind.
Only too eager to leave, Effort will begin to pick her way cautiously down the path to the village, while Cadmael observes them from overhead.
