The Party and their prisoners spend the night. It is all uneventful, with the prisoners happy to stay quiet and polite. Once daybreak comes, it is time to return to Needham Harbor.
En route encounter roll: 4
The road to the base is just as uneventful, with nothing of any real interest happening. The only patrols of the Count that are met on the road seem to be uninterested in such a large group and let you all pass without any questions. Rules of Golf are discussed at length, and that is pretty much the only non-boring part of the journey. You reach and enter Needham Harbor quite quietly.
Inside, you are met by the Navy's guards. They take the prisoners into custody, once you explain the situation. Then, the party is escorted to the quartermaster's office, where he is not alone. Rear Admiral Barnaby is there as well. He seems to be chastising the quartermaster.
"And, next time, try not to have actual animals living within our supplies... Oh, what do we have here... Our foreign friends have returned, it seems".
Both of the men greet you. They want to debrief you, so it is entirely up to you what you tell them and what (if anything) you omit.
"Well i would lie if i would say it went as expected. The dukes men were not the first to arrive. The temple has seen some Demon infestaion. But we could handle the abyssal problem and brought the dukes man for interogation. And we also had some godly interactions with the owner of that place."
OOC: I assume you tell them everything, or, at least, do not deliberately hide anything from them, including the fact that two huge creatures fought in front of you and you have no idea who they were and what they wanted.
The men listen attentively, you can clearly see, that they are impressed. Edgor is the one who responds first:
"Well, ya have certainly fulfilled your part of the bargain. So, the payment. What was it, 30 Gold pieces per person, right?"
With this, he hands each of you a small sack full with coins, each of them made with fine gold, while the sack is quality linen and has the Imperial standard embroidered on it. (OOC: You can add them into your inventory). Then, he continues:
"Ya people also wanted armor. Well, I had a new batch requisitioned, so, if ya want, ya can have these"
With this, he points to several mannequins in the back of the room. They each have Splint Armor on. (OOC: If you want, each of you can have one. If so, put it into your inventory). Edgor goes on:
"As for a Rainbow Spell Crystal, that's where I hit a snag... Ya see, fellas, they cost more than 20,000 Gold each, and even then, trade in 'em is very restricted, I could not requisition 'em even if I knew I wanted to... So, that's a problem. If ya still want to work for me, I can arrange a good pay, but nothing on that scale... Sorry..."
With this, there is silence in the room for a bit. If anyone looks, the Rear Admiral seems to be deep in thought. Then, he speaks up:
"20,000 Gold price tag, and a restriction on trade. Well, you would need to be a Rear Admiral, to make such a requisition. Fortunately, I am one. So, if you people would be willing to act as my representatives and help me in a delicate situation, I think I could get that Crystal for you".
He waits for your response and, if nobody has any strong objections, goes on:
"Now, you impressed me with your underhanded resolution to this potentially dangerous situation. So, I want you to do something similar, but on a bigger scale. About ten miles from here, inland, there is the barony of Chilton. It is governed by Baron Armel. Chilton is within this County, so its Baron should be subservient to Count Gerrold, but, I suspect that is no longer the case. I believe, that Duke Joharr has managed to sway Baron Armel onto his side. Usually, I would not be interested in their bickering, even considering my involvement in their conflict, but there is a snag.
Near Chilton, there is the monastery of Longridge. Longridge houses an item of considerable power - The Beacon of Light. It is a small, golden item, nothing too fancy-looking, but the power within is immense. I do not want it to fall into the Duke's hands, as the Beacon can be used in a variety of ways and Joharr, being the scumbag that he is, can find a nefarious purpose for it, which I do not want to allow. However, my involvement must not be known. Whatever you do, the Imperial Navy cannot be implicated in this endeavor and, if you are captured, I will do nothing to save you.
So, my assignment for you is as follows: Go to the Monastery of Longridge in the Barony of Chilton and covertly retrieve the Beacon of Light. If you come back with the Beacon, I will ensure, that you receive your Rainbow Crystal and, let's say, 5,000 Gold pieces. What say you?"
"Sure, I requisitioned 'em too, just did not bother to put 'em up to be this pretty", Says Edgor, than motions to a door behind him "There should be some there, if ya rummage around a bit... Not that it is messy there, and the chance of getting attacked by rats is slim, so not much rummaging will be needed" He finishes, looking sheepishly towards Barnaby.
Dihek'nir looks around, waits for a lull in the conversation and then quickly asks his question, "Is there by chance some criminal or other type of organisation as which we could disguise ourselves? We are in unknown territory for us both politically and geographically and can't possibly guarantee being completely unseen."
"No need to be unseen, and, by not disguising yourself as anyone, you'll be suspected to be whoever that person fears the most, so I would not worry about that" Says Barnaby, continuing: "However, if you wish to make others believe you are with someone specific, I would go for "The Blue Rose". They used to be pirates, who operated throughout the island. I was the one to personally beach their ship and kill their captain several months ago, so I know for sure that they are completely destroyed, but most people believe they are still around. It would be believable to say you are with the Blue Rose, while, at the same time, there will be no risk of actually running into someone from the organization".
Hearing about the manner of identification, Barnaby looks at Edgor. The Quartermaster seems confused at first, but then has an epiphany:
"...Oh, those stupid Handkerchiefs... I'll be right back".
He runs towards the back of the room and through a door. About a minute later, he emerges with a bunch of very dark red handkerchiefs with blue corners and a blue rose with golden leaves embroidered upon them.
"Here ya go. Don't wave 'em around or anything, but if need be, show these to people and they'll assume ya're from the Blue Rose. And don't worry, we threw out the bloody ones".
"The Captain was... eccentric, but, well, he's dead now" Says Barnaby. "Now then, are we in agreement? If so, you can rest and then be on your way. I trust Edgor here will provide with access to the Spa, as well as any additional inventory needed, and a map of the region".
„I there is a little something i would need. I‘ll get to you later edgor. Besides that, i have a question: is the monastary abandoned or are there still monks? You said it is a temple of the light, so i assume there are still people.“
Edgor, hearing Dihek'nir's request, goes to the back and returns with roughly 50 feet of rope, offering it to the Gith. Then, he offers any assistance, should Ferdinand need it.
Rear Admiral Barnaby, meanwhile, is clearly trying to remember something and, then, answers Gedyr:
"So, Havergate was taken by the Empire before the great conquests, around three hundred years ago. As far as I remember, the Hellkin, or, as they call themselves, the Tieflings, from whom we took the island, were not the original builders of it either. The temple was already an abandoned ruin, by the time we arrived. So, nobody really bothered with it. The Hellkin might have some information on it. And, well, I know for a fact, that there is at least one in the Monastery, as I gave him permission to go there myself. Zhen Wuhan, his name was. He said he was a scholar of some Hellkin University, but I do not recall the details, so, maybe, you should ask him".
Then, he responds to Ferdinand:
"No, it is still quite active, has a contingent of roughly fifty monks. They are not the friendliest bunch, but will not turn away guests".
With everything being settled, the Rear Admiral bids you farewell. Edgor grants you another day at the Spa, which goes amazingly, as usual. You can clearly get used to visiting this place. Once again, you sleep like babies and wake up feeling entirely refreshed.
Before you leave, however, Zeng comes forward:
"Guys, I feel that there are enough of you to carry out this mission without myself. I feel that I should return to the ship, as I am worried about Aella and the crew. Also, they should be briefed about the world around them, so I prefer to do it myself".
With this, he bids you all farewell, and goes back to the Void Skipper.
The remaining five of you are given a cart with a mule (an inconspicuous mode of transportation), as well as directions to the Monastery of Longridge, in the Barony of Chilton. While en route, you take stock of what you have achieved so far, after landing in this world. You feel that your adventures have made you stronger and wiser. You are clearly more experienced than you were before.
The road seems safe, however, it is not particularly busy. It takes roughly 24 hours to get to your destination, so dusk settles in while you are en route. You can either make camp, send scouts ahead and go with caution, or just continue your way as before. What do you do?
„Its getting dark. Id say we rest for the night, what‘d you say? We could also send the birds ahead.“ the last part, directed to Gedyr, refers to the bird-familiars.
“or should we continue there and ask for shelter?“
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before night falls Gedyr will send his hawk ahead in the direction of the monestary, as well as periodically along the trail. "The bird sees better during daylight,"
Hawk Perception roll: 22
"Perhaps we can present ourselves as investigators first. Pretend we are here to meet this Tiefling 'Zhen Wuhan' that was mentioned and ask about the temple. Then we would be able to scout without arousing suspicion"

When edgor talks about the armor, ferdinand asks if he as something lighter available, such as a breast plate.
“now that sounds like something“ he says when hearing the admirals offer. „I think we all agree that this is something we all can get behind“
