You approach the shop, the eyes of the stuffed beholder in the window seeming to follow you. The purple door opens to an assaultive wave of incense wafting out of a familiar violet room. Trinkets abound on the shelves and walls. The hairless plum-robed deep gnome looks up from his cross-legged perch on the countertop, squints at you with beady eyes, and puffs out a plume of lavender smoke. He peers at you expectantly.

Kal walks up confidently but not in an assuming manner. Good morning, shop keep. I’ll speak plainly with you; we’ve come to bargain with someone who can make a deal with us. If you are that man, we can begin, if not please take us to them now. Kal calmly crosses his arms and awaits the gnome’s response.
Ringo stands next to Kalmar, arms crossed over and his hands hidden in the sleaves. Unknowingly to everyone else in the room, Ringo clasps one of his daggers in his hidden covered hand and keeps an eye out for any danger while Kal negotiates.
"Bargain?! You've come to the right place!"The gnome coughs, then gestures around to the walls of his shop. Row of trinkets; a tiny silver icon of a raven, a mechanical canary inside a gnome-crafted lamp, a silver teardrop earring made from a real teardrop, all manner of assorted items are scattered throughout the shop. "I have much to bargain with, let's strike a deal!"

Look, I wouldn’t presume to bring this straight to Xanathar, though he may wish to handle it himself, but my associates and I don’t wish to be jerked around, this is a time sensitive manner and you don’t want to be the one who delayed it.

"You must have me mistaken; I took over this shop years ago and Xoblob's been here longer than that. Couldn't even get people to call the shop by the new name so I gave up. I've no relation to the eye tyrant in the window I assure you! And no business with Xanathar! Any curios for you three?"

Kalmar, the story checks out, and images of Luskan, Neverwinter, Silverymoon, and Baldur’s Gate swirl through your head. The svirfneblin looks at you jovially, gesturing to his wares. "A mummified goblin hand, perhaps? A set of bone pipes? I have many trinkets."
Fluttercloak's simple phrase interrupts both your musing and the shopkeeper's speech. "I don't believe you."The windows of the shop slam shut.
Kalmar resists the urge to put a hand to his sword hilt. Ah, excellent, I see we can dispense with the bullshit. Now, are you authorized to speak for Xanathar or are you getting someone who is?
The gnome eyes the sudden shift in mood with grim unease. "I, ahh, that is to say, no. I'm just an eye, I just pass information. I swear I'm telling the truth! I took up this shop many years ago to sell my trinkets, but I was...enlisted, for my protection you see. So many fragile curios..." The svirfneblin looks around his shop wistfully. "What do you want? I can't arrange a meeting, but just leave my shop be!"

Kalmar picks up the clockwork bird and examines it. Yeah, this one looks really fragile. He locks eyes with the gnome I admire the craftsmanship, I really do. I always wished I could make things like this. He turns it in his hands. So intricate. Truly a marvel. He places the bird back on the shelf Point us towards whoever you report to. Now. Also Ringo looks for anyone other entrances into the room besides the main entrance and readies and action if someone comes running through one of those other entrances.
The gnome meets your eye, sliding over to the shelf and casually knocking an intricate glass eye over onto the ground, where it shatters. Waving his hand, he casts mending, bending down with a groan to pick up the now intact trinket. With a look that says 'you can't smash all of them' and a slight quiver in his voice he bravely declares, "As I've said I can't arrange any meeting, I'm just a spy. Now I'll ask you to leave my shop!"
