Chronero - Single Player DnD

Tomoe shoots the stunned demon and then gets right up in it's face for a good stab through the chest. The Cultists flock to protect their abomination. The swing the daggers at Kate and Tomoe but their aim is clumsy and they miss. Kate turns around and swings at on of the cultist. He manages to dodge the first attack but is brought close to death by the second attack before quickly being put to sleep by Priya's spell. The Cultist 1 that attacked Tomoe is also effected. Lucia quickly hits the demon in the head with her new weapon and then punches it in the gut. The demon, immune to the effects of Priya's spell regains it's senses and dodge Lucia's second punch.

Tomoe's turn.

Let me know if anyone triggers my sentinal feat. You have a better map in your head than me.

Tomoe focuses on the demon. She focuses her fighting spirit and lunges at it, hoping to free the host.

Attack: 23 Damage: 12

Attack: 21 Damage: 8

If the demon doesnt drop, she will action surge and put 2 more strikes at it.

Attack: 13 Damage: 8

Attack: 26 Damage: 7

I'm going to assume you're trying to attack to knock out and not to kill.

Also I forgot about sentinel. Cultist 1 triggered it. (I'll assume you did 5 damage to him before he fell asleep)

The two cultists Kate killed was worth 60 GP.

Tomoe manages to knock the demon out before it has a chance to do anything else. Kate makes quick work of the two cultists pestering her. Lucia knocks out the two sleeping Cultist so they can be brought back to the city. Lucia points to the Demon and says, "Fiend Bearers have really good healing. We need to kill that thing before it can wake up and recover."

There must be something we can do about the host. Was that girl not our reason for being here? If we kill her, would the demon leave? Could we use our revive potion?

Lucia shakes her head and says, "It's not that simple. The ritual to create a Fiend Bearer damns the soul to eternal torment in hell regardless of what the person did before becoming the host. Unlike normal demonic possession, there is no way to bring the girl back. The ritual doesn't just cause a demon to inhabit the body, it binds the soul to the fiend's soul, making them inseparable by normal means. "

Is there any way to unbind them?

Lucia responds, "None that we know of."

Tomoe violently kicks a nearby corpse and screams in anger and sorrow at no one in particular  THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS?!

Kate looks at the knocked out Demon and at Tomoe being angry. She says, "Look, we were hired to bring the girl back and we failed. It happens. No mercenary has a 100% success record. When we realize a job is failed, we do whatever will get us out safely and whatever we think is right and move on."

Tomoe stands still for a moment as a few tears drop from her eyes to the floor. Then let us do what we must and be done with this place.

Lucia steps up to her and gives her a hug. She says, "Chief, let's... go wait outside." Lucia gently guides Tomoe back up the stairs, with Kate and Priya waiting below. After a few moments, Kate and Priya catch up to Tomoe and Lucia. Kate says, "Deed's done. We should get out of here." Lucia was about to disagree but then looks at Tomoe and says, "Y-Yeah. Let's head home."

On the way home,  Tomoe adds this cult to the list of monsters to be felt with should they survive Rat Liver. Tomoe is emotionally defeated and forlorn.

The cultist brought back alive yielded 100 GP (For two)

The Fiend-Bearer was on the weaker end of the spectrum so the party was rewarded 1000 GP

The trip back is quiet and uneventful. Kate seems lost in thought.

Back in base, Tomoe is met with Ingrid that night. Ingrid tells her about the Rat Liver plan to bomb parts of the city to bust out one of their leaders from prison. Lucia says, "I've gotta go and warn the Guard!"

I am thinking it may be time to pull you out of there Emi-chan. 

I agree, but I need to tell you that, I think alot of them have good intentions. It's their leader, this man (cant spell his name) has alot of good points about how people are treated in this city by the nobles. It wasnt like that in Edo was it?

Ingrid will repeat the main points of the sermans she hears to the group and share her concerns about them maybe being right.

Kate and Lucia seem to share conflicting opinions on the matter. Kate says, "He's got a point. Most nobles I've met are total asshats that need to die in a fire. Though I doubt this Zhao Wang is any better. Seems more like a corrupt priest if you ask me." Lucia says, "That's stupid. We guards try very hard to keep the streets safe for everyone. The last thing we need are some zealous terrorists. Yeah, the world isn't perfect but overthrowing the ruling class in a hostile takeover isn't going to end well for anyone, it'll just cause more chaos."

I have only met one noble in this city, and he was quit rude.But I dont think they are going about fixing the problem the right way. So I think Kate and Lucia are both right.

I agree. The class divide is not the healthiest here, but violance in this manner is not right.  But, how much different is that then what we have been doing ? Where is the line between right and wrong? Our intentions are to help people. But so are their's. Tomoe is thinking about how they couldn't save the girl and wonders if there was another way. She slumps on her bed and looks like she might cry.

Lucia takes a step towards the door and says, "Right or not, I need to warn the Guard. I'll be right back." She then walks off.

Kate leans against a wall and says, "Right versus Wrong? I don't know, that's stuff is a bit too philosophical and complicated for me. I just do whatever feels right and leave the smart people to wonder if it was actually right or not. All I know is that I have a big-ass sword, I have people I don't like and are trying to kill me, I hit them with my big-ass sword."

Tomoe sighs heavily,  still a bit depressed for not being able to save the girl.

What has Onee-sama so down ? Ingrid asks outloud to Kate.

Kate responds, "We had a job and it went badly."
