Chronero - Single Player DnD

"Well you've met Kyle so you know what a bastard he is. I remember how we met. His dad was a merchant too but because of his bad habits, the old man disowned him. However, when Kyle got himself in hot water with the wrong kind of people and his dad sent me to fix the issue. After I saved his sorry ass, he took me back to his place where he patched me up. The time after that is a bit of blur. Things happened and we ended up dating. He seemed like a person with many bad habits but with a good heart. Guess I was wrong. Or maybe I just didn't want to admit it. Who knows. We dated for a long time. We broke up recently for obvious reasons. Honestly, I don't know what to feel anymore. I've killed Lilith but I couldn't save my brother. The only other person that I had a deep bond with, Kyle, cheated on me behind my back with my mortal enemy. Then he tried to poison me. I wonder how many women he's slept with during the long times I was away fighting Rat Liver. I feel like there's no point to anything anymore. Why am I even fighting Rat Liver? I can't save my brother and I have no one that's worth fighting for. And before you bring up Tomoe, I feel like I dragged her into a fight that wasn't hers. It was my fight and I dragged her into it. Now we're in deep trouble because of me and there's no reason to keep fighting anymore. I feel like I've lost all the people I had cared about and the ones I care about now are in danger because I dragged them into a fight that was never theirs. Honestly, I feel like I should just go over to the nearest Rat Liver base and surrender myself. The only point to keep fighting is to survive and it doesn't seem worth it to keep living."

I'm sure Tomoe-sama has her own reasons now. She has a strong sense of justice. She probably would have picked a fight with Rat Liver eventually. But maybe you are right. Maybe everything was just about your issue with the gang this whole time. And im sure Lucia is just following along because she is Tomoe-sama's girlfriend.  Ingrid is trying to use reverse psychology to give Kate a little perspective. Well, i guess if none of us have a reason to be here, we could always leave for another city, start fresh. 

 Either way, you should tell them how you feel. They are your friends, they will listen.

Kate says, "About Lucia... I remember her saying something about... Equalizer? Equazer? Equazzar! She was looking for someone named Capo who is connected to a gang and something called Equazzar. She thought the gang in question might be Rat Liver but soon figured out it wasn't Rat Liver. I think she's sticking around just so she can get help when she tries the other, more dangerous gangs. Yeah... I think if I turn myself in, it would free up Tomoe and Lucia to hunt down the other gangs."

Reverse Psychology seems to have backfired.

I dont think that would work. If I know my Onee-sama, she would cash in every favor she still has in Edo to bring as much fire and furt against Rat liver just to get you back.  That's just how she is. Just talk to them about how you feel before you do anything OK?

"Yeah sure. Don't worry about me, kid. I'm a mercenary. We're expendable like that."

You soon reach the sewer base.

They walk into the sewer base with Lucia still asleep, her head resting on Tomoes lap like a pillow with the Edo noble gently humming and stroking the sleeping girls hair. When she sees the other two enter she quietly says, Shhh, she worked hard for us. She has earned some rest. I am glad you both made it unharmed. How are you feeling Kate? 

Kate says, "Eh... Feeling empty and lost. Thanks for asking. How are you today?"

 Content for now.She says as she continues to gently pet Lucia But i also fear i may have led us astray by going so hard after Rat Liver. Maybe if i had not been so rash, we would not be being hunted by them like we are. And maybe Lilith would have left Kyle alone. I cannot help but feel a measure of guilt as to our current status. 

"Alright, so what do you want to do about it?" Kate asks.

We stop being the hunted, and return to being the hunters. With Lucia's new information we should be able to turn this around on them. We break their bases down, then we find and crush Boss Rat. We end all the suffering they are causing. 

"But... What's the point anymore? I really don't have a reason to keep fighting them. Destroying Rat Liver will just have Razorback or Ao Oni take their place"

Well, i am not at all sure if we stop that Rat liver will leave us alone. I do not want to live looking over my shoulder all the time. Sure the bigger gangs may take over. But if we stay clear of them we should be fine when all is settled. Also, i do not want to get to hopeful, but maybe we can find a way to still help Sean. You may not ever fully get him back, but i do not want to believe he is completely gone. Rat liver has the answer either way. 

Kate says, "Or... we could just surrender me to them in exchange for them not bothering us anymore. I started this mess and I'm pretty sure if I surrender, they'll get off our backs."

No. Tomoe says flatly. That is not going to happen. I would bring down heaven and earth to take you back. And I started this. I came to you after my first base takedown remember ? I took things this far. It is on me, not you. And do not ever dare feel like I would be better with out you.

Kate remains quiet.

So what are you doing now?

Its only been an hour or too i assume?

So, we have a few hours before Lucia wakes up. What should we do in the mean time?

Kate shrugs "Don't know. What do you want to do?"

DM: When I asked what you were doing, I meant the whole day, not just during the time until Lucia wakes up.

Oh, sorry. Lucia said no ambush tonight right? So if their is still daylight when she wakes up we will see if we can get into the black market.
