"That would be me."A strong but tender voice called out as you turn to see a slightly taller then average built human male walking up towards you. This man had a sort of fatherly presence about him that put those around him at ease even. He wore a plain, slightly silvered robe over a common functional outfit.
"Mathais, it's good to see you're alright."The guards woman said with an obvious note of relief in her voice.
"And you as well Audreyn."The man replied with a compassionate tone."Fortunately it seems the danger's passed for now."He then turns to the rest of the party and smiles at them warmly."I should introduce myself properly. I am Mathais Arden, I run the local temple here in Greymeadow. I would not call myself political by any means but I'm as close as you'll get to a town leader. Of course, you've already met our dear Audreyn, who is our Captain of the guards."
"Not by choice,"Audreyn explained,"Just there's no one else who's willing to do the job."
"Regardless, I appreciate your help in driving off those Bullywug invaders. For them to attack so brazenly is cause for concern."Methais adds.
Nemeia smiles as Mathais introduces himself and Audreyn. She knew that small towns often had to form their own forms of leadership and it wasn't uncommon for temple leaders to take that role. Their ability to talk to people always proved helpful. "Are there any injured that need our aide? We are decently skilled in the art of medicine."
"I would be grateful for any assistance you can provide any injured people you come across, however I believe we're past the brunt of the attack. You don't need to trouble yourself for now, most of the injuries that remain should be easy to mange from this point forward." Mathais replied.
"One of my men died in the attack."Audreyn added grimly.
"I'm sorry to hear that, we will all mourn his loss in the coming days."Mathais said as he comforted the guard captain, "However the pressing matter is determining why the Bullywugs attacked in the first place. The last thing I want for our town is to be attacked again while we're still recovering."
“Right, so while we fill our stomachs, would you be so kind as to collect any information around town for their location? We think we know where they are, but any additional information wouldn’t harm. Oh, right.”, she starts running towards Mary’s shop, helping anyone along the way. She will notify her companions to start breakfast and that she will join them shortly.
"Unless you prefer to have your own people look into, Captain, I believe my friends and I would be happy to see if we can find out why these Bully-things attacked. And possibly dissuade them from doing so again. Though as Sora says we will need to prepare first. My name is Moira by the way. You will have to excuse my poor manners."
The guard captain smiles at Moria,"Nice to meet you Moira. If you and your friends are willing to look into this, that would be a huge help for us. It will allow me to put all the remaining guards on watch, should any of them attack again."
As 9 heads to Mary's shop she finds it in fairly good condition all things considered. It seems they weren't hit too hard, perhaps nothing within Mary's shop seemed edible. You find a few hurt townsfolk along the way, though none with any critical injuries.
Nemeia thanks them both for their time and says, "I will look into this issue and make sure your town doesn't have to deal with it again. No one should have to live in fear."
9 heads back towards the tavern, observing people along the way. raised and damaged most of them, not miserable however. They helped each other, they nursed each other. This kind of care reminded her of beginning years of her unwanted expirience, the care that they showed each other. They whipped it off of them though, time and leather does that. By the time they lost all hope, they didn’t care a shit if any of ‘em died of whipping.
She approached the group, calling out to them, “Mary is well. Lets eat.”
Before joining the others Moira will head further into town to the general store. "Hello again. Do you need any help after the attack?"
(Not sure how much you want to RP but Moira wants to buy charcoal, incense, herbs, and a brass brazier. But also doesn't want to seem insensitive and will offer what ever aid she can to them in regards to the attack.)
"If by help you mean finding those cursed toads and dragging their corpses back here and forcing them to clean up the mess they made, Then YES I would Very much love some help!" The elven shopkeeper shouted angrily. Unlike the blacksmith, the general store did not fare as well. It looked like several of the bullywugs had managed to force their way inside and ransacked the place. The door had been broken open and there were overturned shelves and merchandise everywhere. It was difficult to tell how much was actually taken in all the mess however.
Taking a deep breath the shopkeeper looked back at Moira and added,"I should probably thank you, actually. Apparently grabbing several thousand copper pieces in a locked chest was not worth the effort for those nasty toads. So at least they never bother taking any of the coins in the shop. But gods only know what else they managed to pilfer."
"I don't think we will be bringing them back but we do intend to go after them and make sure this does not happen again. As for cleaning up and recovering lost things I might be able to help."
Moira will go to the door and put her hands to it "Setneicifer"
As soon as the attack has finished, Witt tries to find Moira. I think... if you don't mind... I'm going to go and check on Gerald. And the caravan? Without waiting for a response, he runs as fast as he can back to the Thief's Respite, and looks for the caravan master and the other members of the caravan. Please, Harvest Watcher, let them be okay, he prays silently. And please let those creatures not have stolen all our harvest!
Moira attempts to mend the doorway, but unfortunately the damage is greater then the capacity of the cantrip. Some of the cracks in the wood reseal themselves, but beyond that the door will still need more dedicated work before it can be repaired.
Nevertheless the shop owner looks a bit relieved by Moira's attempts, "I appreciate the assistance. And I absolutely hope you are successful in dealing with these terrible creatures. As things stand it will take some time and a lot of work before I can sell anything in this place."
Meanwhile Witt rushes back to the inn. He doesn't find Gerald right away, but he does run into other members of the caravan. They tell him that Gerald went to back to the stables where they had secured their wagons and goods to check up on them. Following their directions Witt has no trouble finding the caravan leader looking over their stock. Fortunately it seems no one was hurt in the attack. Unfortunately it seems the wagons themselves were definitely looted, but Witt would be able to quickly see that they did not take all of the harvest.
"Witt! By Oryn's grace an Migram's boots! It's good ta see ya alive an well. I was so worried ya might be hurt. Good ta know we all came out unscathed."Gerald calls out loudly as soon as he sees the halfling, his face showing equal parts relief and frustration.
Oh, Master Gerald, Witt exclaims, it is so good to see you. I'm so sorry, I should have been here to protect you, to protect the caravan. I mean, I did fight the frog creatures, we all did, but they were everywhere. He stops, and takes a deep breath. Oryn be praised indeed. Ah, though much has been lost, the town has got off lightly, I think. He sits, on some hay or on the floor if need be, and takes stock for a moment. How desperate they must have been, these creatures, to attack the town knowing it is defended. There is so much that makes no sense here.
"Bah, don' worry yerself so hard, laddie."Gerald says as he places a hand on Witt's shoulder in an effort to calm him down."Worryin' is my job. Besides. It's no' as bad as it looks. It's not as good as I'd like tho'. Well, they made a right mess o' things here, to be sure. But we brought a kingdom's worth of merchandise. Only so much those bastards could take with 'em. We still got most our stock. Just hope we can get back what else they stole."Gerald takes a hard sigh as he runs his head through his thick hair then down his beard."Well looks like we'll be staying here another night most likely while we clean up this mess. With Oryn's blessing we may try to pick up some time on tha' road."
”Oh shoot. I have to confess. I did want to check on you and see if I could help in any way I also was hoping to pick up a few supplies I forgot yesterday.”
The shop owner nods at Moira as he looks over his messy shop,"Well tell you what, if you don't mind helping me clean up some of this mess, I'll see what I can do. At the very least we should see if I even have anything that you would actually want anymore."
”I was going to do that either way but thank you.“ Moira will help clean. As she works she will keep her eyes out for anything that is broken and continue to attempt Mending on them.
Nemeia, not one to start the day without a meal, has returned back into the inn and looked over the scene. She'd hoped the creatures didn't get past them and into the pantry but combat can cloud the mind rather easily. That's especially true on an empty stomach. Moving to where they'd eaten before, she asks, "Is there breakfast available? I have quite the appetite."
"That would be me." A strong but tender voice called out as you turn to see a slightly taller then average built human male walking up towards you.
