The knight gives a boisterous laugh. "Let me guess, he was a true follower of Tyr, stiff necked and uncompromising. Rest assured, I came to Tyr later in my life and we do not have the same sort of... deal. I suppose I could be counted among his paladins, though the others might reject me if you ever told them. Narz almost smiles in relief seeing Artys reaction, but just manages to fight back the urge for the most part. "Then you won't take this the wrong way when I say that's a relief to hear. For a journey of this nature, without some flexibility one might not make it very far, eh?" At that point, the hobgoblin finally relaxes just a bit and even started to dig into the meatier portions of the spread before him following a chastising word in goblin thrown the tressym's way.
"Now, I myself am an arcane practitioner or wizard for short. If albeit one more focused on the practical and... war-oriented manipulation of the weave. Be it for scouting, decimation, and so forth. Which I'm sure is no surprise to you given my people's history." He cracks a faint grin. "Though I'm not limited to only that, this isn't entirely the best setting to go boasting too much." He adds, glancing around at some of the busy bodies all about inn. He quiets from there as well, wanting to give the others the chance to introduce themselves and more if they wish. After they get into plans for the future, bringing the knight up to speed.

Torsus listened tentatively as he nibbled his food. Sipping the water as the knight approached, and spoke and Narz held a small conversation with him. Torsus sighed at the same time as Narz more or less. Agreed. That was part of my problem with the woman from before, no flexibility at all.. Without context, one might think he was referring to a recent lover, though for once humor of that sort ws not his intent, but rather to leave out the fact the woman had been a 'guard' of some kind. However, leaving that at that... he sets his food down to continue speaking. Another sigh escapes first though has he now realizes that he must now (Though not in current company) Reveal.. once more.. his personal plight at some point to the newcomer.
And Narz, I daresay there are far more eyes on current events than we can ever know. I am simply glad that not all of them mean us ill. My name is Torsus, and like Narz, I am a practitioner of magics. Though I draw from a darker weave, and specialize less in direct combat, and more in seeding the minds of my enemies with weeds. I aim to control a battlefield more than annihilate it. Tis easier to take out one target at a time while the rest slumber, cower, or stare into the heavens afterall. Though to help cohesion... if you see I have cast a dweamor on someone or a group, please refrain from hitting them... My spells, while powerful, can sometimes be removed by even a single hit - much in the same way as one might resist a spell by stabbing ones own leg to break it.
Torsus nods in Aeyds direction, to hopefully let her know he wasn't calling her out, but rather stating to everyone for all future conflicts, hell it may have even been his own fault thus why he wasn't willing to blame anyone, rather let everyone know to reduce the likelihood going forward. A light seemed to explode within his eyes though as he perked up. Oh, and apologies for asking this of you just after we met, but you or your patron over there wouldn't happen to be connected with a jeweler in some fashion would you? I have a gem I need a specific thing done to, but due to unforseen circumstances prior... I wasn unable to complete that task - It is required for one of my newer and .. more powerful spells.
Artys shakes his head. "The town is not able to support such an endeavor, not so close to Waterdeep. Why go here where the talent may be suspect when you could go to the masters in the city? And I will endeavor not to break your spells without good reason."

You all talk for a while and soon several hours have passed. The servers soon seem sparce and you notice that most of the candles seem to have gone out or perhaps intentionally put out leaving the inn dimly lit. The inn goes quiet and soon only Lord Roaringhorn can be heard as he laughs as some unheard joke before he realizes everyone else is quiet. Eh, whats this then? Who killed the party? One of the other Lords claps his hands and the doors to the kitchen open. Out rolls a large five tiered cake decorated with several candles carried by the servers who begin singing a birthday song for the Lord. We had to sneak in the best baker in Waterdeep to get this made without you knowing my friend. Happy 63rd and here's to many more eh? Roaringhorn cheers and the other patrons do likewise as the cake is cut and everyone in the inn gets a slice. Soon the lights are lit again and music and laughter fills the air once more. However while you're eating you're cake Narz notices the liquid in his cup is rippling as if something were causing it to shake. Soon the laughter cut off a loud crash and the sounds of screaming outside
Artys had wandered back over to wish Lord Roaringhorn a happy birthday but when the crash comes he quickly hoists his pack and begins to strap the shield to his arm before hefting the warhammer. "Seems like something wanted to make your birthday memorable, my lord. I best go and see what's about." He heads outside, towards the screaming.

Earlier: Torsus grunts but he expected that answer. Never hurts to ask on the off chance some famous jeweler decided to live somewhere else. Or someone with the skills lives next door. A small chance to save yourself the time and coin. It is what it is however.
Present:
He didn't seem surprised. Things were always on a pendulum. And the trip here was too peaceful, though he did expect it to be Waterdeep. Then again perhaps that was too much of a risk, even for the giants... for now. He was glad he had a full belly, as it would help keep his stomach from rumbling during the likely fight to come. He cleared his throat before shouting to the tavern. I do not know for sure, but this is likely a giant attack. They have been going for quite some time... There may also be goblinoids. Take whatever precautions you deem necessary. Hide if you cannot fight, or ready your arms if you can. was all he said before getting up, and heading outside as he cast the fly spell on himself once more, to begin elevating himself... both for a better view of the likely battlefield, but also to increase his mobility.
The two sober Lords begin evacuating people from the Inn via the rear and begin preparations to prepare the guard for counter attack while you all head outside. Sure enough three hill giants are wandering the town square. Though some people are fleeing others are tossing food and other items at the giants in an attempt to slow them down. The giants simply block what they can and try to grab the food. Ugh smell fresh chicken. You see fresh chicken Moog?
Me see sweets. Yum Yum!One of the Giants reaches down and grabs a cart full of fresh baked sweets and empties it into a pouch before leaving the cart back where he placed it. At this time the more perceptive of you notice that there's no damage to any of the buildings and no one appears injured.
With his flying spell 'equipped' Torsus makes the most of it, and flies towards (Or dashes if necessary) to get within 100 feet of the Giants, to better be out of 'advantageous' range. He takes note of the giants lack of mayhem, outside of mass-petty theft as he approaches. Once at the limit of his movement, he would shout out to (with thaumatergy if needed) saying Halt giantkin! I stay my weapons because I see you are not harming anyone, but I also cannot stand idly by as you steal peoples livelihoods.
Whom sent you here? Or did you come yourselves by your own choices? he considered asking 'how did you get into town without anyone trying to stop or raising the alarm.... but realized they would probably be too stupid to understand. Do you come in peace? he realized asking such a thing may make him seem stupid to many but if these giants haven't yet caused harm then there is no reason to kill them... yet.

Taking in the damage done thus far, even the cool hearted Narz couldn't help but actually hesitate in doing more than break out his heavy crossbow as more a cautionary measure. That, and stop short of getting anywhere near closer to the giants, least one change its mind about the type of meat it prefers. "Sir Artys." He says quickly before the man likely stepped up to the giant. "If things turn hostile, I do have a spell that might, uh... let's say enhance your agility. Just thought I say now, in case it becomes relevant soon." At that, Narz mentally bid Spaz get an aerial view on the town to see if the trio weren't the only giants causing a ruckus.
Artys steps out into the street and takes stock of the situation. Seeing the seemingly destructionless rampage he places his hammer over his shoulder and steps into the giants path, waiting for them to answer the tortle rather than engaging them directly. He nods in response to Narz. "Should it come to that I would be most appreciative."

The three giants look at each other in confusion for a moment before one says We's invited to party! See? He pulls a small scrap of paper from his sack thats now got splotches of grease on it. Artys however does recognize it as an invitation to the Lords party though its doubtful he sent it to any giants. Sees? Says free food.
Artys looks it over carefully, trying to see if there's any signs of who it was actually sent too. "How did that invitation make its way too you? Forgive me for saying but I've never known giants to have mailing addresses."

Casting spell Friends on self, target the note-holding giant - Persuasion check: 16
Aside from wondering how the giants were capable of reading common, considering how dumb they generally are, Torsus also felt like provoking the giants right now wouldn't be for the best. Whether they ultimately killed the giants in the end, was irrelevant to preventing them from destroying the livlihoods of those in the town. Dear giant friends... The free food was meant to be brought to you, not taken from random passerby's and merchants! He says as he desperately looks around for an area that is as clear of innocents as possible, while also being open enough to allow a force to surround them if 'death' was on the menu.
Please, return the food you've taken already, for the Lord wishes for you to have only the BEST FREE FOOD! Not some common street food! Don't you want to eat food who's flavor will stay in your mouth for months after you've eaten it and fill your belly for weeks? Please, Return the common nasty street food you've already taken, or atleast set the food on the ground.... he added in hopes that the option would make them more likely to do it. Then follow me over here, and have a seat as the many servants of the Lord bring you a banquet fit for the greatest of giants, which clearly you are! he adds, trying to butter them up in tandem as he weaves the Friends spell into his words, directed at the one showing the note.
He mentally projects to all within range, to run or be ready to fight but not to seem hostile just yet, that he's trying to lure them off. Then shouting to the 'commoners' You rabble should get out of these invited guests way, commoners such as yourself are unworthy of basking in their presence! he said, hoping they would take the hint to get the **** out of there.
If his words seemed to convince them, he would lead them to whatevr seemed to fit the closest with his desired area, while mentally projecting to any of the nearby party members to have as many fighters hold food of any kind, as they approached and be ready to ambush when the time seemed appropriate.. after the giants 'sat down' and were thoroughly surrounded.
Narz can only facepalm as the invitation is presented. Although unable to read the lettering from afar having stayed at least a solid forty feet from the giants, Artys confirmation was enough. Eventually after dragging his hand down his face to rub at his chin, the hobgoblin appeared thoughtful, but would be too slow to act compared to Torsus.
The intent of the tortle being easily read enough, Narz nodded subtly in agreement, only to grimace a bit later at the mental intrusion. Still, he would hold his tongue in check, and would mentally bid Spaz to carefully search for any of the common rabble too close to the giants, paralyzed either by fear or too drunk to register the potential threat. In this way he would at least know who to further usher away if Torsus words continued to fall on deaf ears.... by either side of the equation.
The giants seem confused but excited at the prospect of more and better food and reluctantly put their sacks of food to the ground, following Torsus to a nearby field. Anyone not of the party and Artys are all confused or even frightened by the sudden voice in their head though most listen and get away from the Giants.
Once in the field and three giants sit and talk excitedly amongst themselves wondering what kind of food they'll be getting.
As everything appeared to be going to plan, Narz takes the opportunity to say when next everyone was out of earshot of the giants, "Seeing as they don't appear to be, eh, connected to the raiders of golden hill, should should the lord actually be fetched and things discussed?" He asked. "Although I doubt he would care much for feeding uninvited guests such as these, especially those liable to make short work of even a festival's worth of food."
