There he was, on a nearby rooftop, already fleeing.
Elwin reached under his armor to touch an ice-blue crystal hanging around his neck. Speaking words in a dead language, he cast a curse upon the assassin, causing the crystal to briefly glow as he did. The young man then dashed after his target, hoping that the particular curse variant he used was impeding the miscreant's progress.
Elwin casts Hex. No saving throw. The target now has disadvantage on all Dexterity ability checks (incl. Acrobatics, etc.) and Elwin does 1d6 extra damage on his attacks on the target.
If he has any movement left (out of 30 feet,) Elwin will expend it all moving toward the assassin.
Tam yells out to Elwin, "Capture the bastard, ALIVE!"
She then turns to QB to assess his situation, grabbing a potion of healing at the same time.
Medicine check to see if the gnome is alive and able to take the heal potion (by force if necessary) = 10
If she can determine a heartbeat or even a gurgle, then she'll snap the arrow to pull the ends out separately from either side. From there, she'll force him to drink the potion. It won't be pretty, but hopefully effective.

X was taken a bit off guard not expecting the huamn to take this course of action as he was freed from his grasp. However X's shock was short lives as he began trying to chance down the person "stop or I may be forced to harm you" he called out
As Elwin casts Hex on the assassin, he becomes clumsy, but as he attempts to jump off the roof, he rolls ATHLETICS (strength), and makes the jump (with a 16). He attempts to shoot Elwin, but clearly fumbles his longbow and arrow, which both slip out of his hands and fall to the street below...
Tam's Medicine check isn't quite enough to save Florence Quickblade, who cannot drink any potions since he's got an arrow stuck in his throat. As she tries to remove the arrow, he coughs up blood, and falls dead...
Meanwhile, Horned-spider Tori manages to crawl down the chimney without inhaling any of the toxic arcana fumes rising up. She lands in what seems like a small alchemist's lab. Glass jars full of dubious liquids and Bunsen burners crowd the room, but no one is in the room. Tori notices the front and back doors, both shut with arcane locks on them. She also notices small stairs going up, and a trap door leading down to the cellar....
Tamlynn goes above and beyond to try and save the gnome, making sure the assistant and announcer see her efforts. So many thoughts were rushing through her head, during this time, that she has to physically shake her herself to clear them.
Once she officially gives up, Tam waits patiently for the questions to begin. She has a few more of her own.
Elwin peered over the top of his shield as he raced forward. The curse appeared to have affected his target; the assassin had dropped his weapon. He was vulnerable.
Elwin grit his teeth. She was right, and while he hadn't planned on killing the man, it did highlight the care he needed to take.
The warlock reached his right hand out to the side as he ran, summoning his pact weapon. Cold tendrils of mist appeared near his palm as he willed his gift into being. The tendrils spread, thickened, and quickly solidified into the shape, then the reality, of an ornate, steel-tipped spear.
"HALT, FILTHY CUR!" he yelled out to the assassin. He didn't actually think it would result in the man stopping; Elwin knew he had no real authority over the man, especially here. But he also knew showing resolve might pressure him, keep him rattled. Plus, with a murder having just been committed, it wouldn't hurt to bring it to the attention of the surrounding people. One of them might even care enough to assist, although that was a long shot; chances were he'd have to secure the man himself.
But to do that.... he pressed forward, spear now in hand, with a dogged focus on taking down his target.
Elwin takes an action to create his pact weapon. His movement is all expended trying to reach the target. No other action if the man is within 30 feet, other than to dash behind him and block his escape (without leaving his reach,) if movement remains.
As X threatens the escaping drunk, it only makes him run faster. You may still roll an opposed Athletics check ...DC 8 this time (the booze is catching up with him).
The Anouncer and Assistant both scream in horror as they step into the tent, just in time to see Florence Quickblade draw his last breath in Tam's arms...fortunately they both saw Elwin run after the assassin, so Tam does not get blamed 😉
Elwin materializes his Spear out of raw Eldritch Energy, and dashes after the limping Assassin. Roll an Athletics check DC 16 to keep up with him in this parkour race.

Arachno-Torment, scutters up the wall to get a better look at the room. I bet there are some helpful potions around here she thinks. Considering her options, she pauses. There will be no good way for her to open the doors without a spell, which she unfortunately has no knowledge of.
In the doorway opening in front of the stairs she spends a few minutes spinning a quick web about 3 feet off the ground. She figures that walking through spider silk might be a distraction and cause a pause and a disgusted yelp from anyone coming up or down the stairs.
Deciding to stay in her spider form for a while longer, she crawls up the wall and sneaks up to the ceiling above the stairs, quickly ascending, keeping a close eye out for anything strange, hoping to ascertain the whereabouts of the Alchemist.
Ideally, she'd like to find a way to surprise him, but also calm him down. She would assume she could make an ally out of him, since the have a common enemy. It would be nice to have some potions, and a fellow who can make them!
Since the doors are all so nicely locked, it wouldn't be the worst time for a quick roll around the floor with a overworked tradesman - she thinks
Tam says a quick death prayer over QB's body, says her condolences, and asks if they'll meet her at the Hanging Chicken later that evening to toast their friend. Drinks are on her.
Hmm. We start the game with Inspiration, correct? If so, I'll go ahead and use mine now to reroll that. (If not, that first one will have to stand.)
Reroll of Athletics Check: 20
OOC You know, I just realized that in my home games I normally let players start with Inspiration, but no one has ever brought it up so far. So YES, you may spend your inspiration and catch up with the assassin. Everyone gains inspiration!
Elwin chases down the assassin across the slums of the Lower Peak , hopping from roof to roof, jumping over merchant stalls until finally the Halfling assassin falls down from a gutter and faceplants right at his feet...
Meanwhile, X catches the drunkard with his metal arm. As the man gets snapped back, the drunken motion sickness kicks in, and he throws up all over X....luckily, this street is currently deserted, and no one is there to witness the scene
As Tori crawls up towards the 2nd floor, she hears snoring, and finds a small bedroom, with an elderly Human man passed out in his bed...
Tam and the two Gypsies all say a prayer for Florence Quickblade, of the Old Charriot faction of the Family, Master Knife thrower and renowned Smuggler for the Lowlands Resistance...
The Anouncer and Assistant both look at Tam, still sobbing. "He will get a full Family funeral tomorrow...this man was one of the greatest among us...THIS will not go unpunished....the Old Charriot Will seek revenge for this..."
Jumping from the roof, Elwin saw his target fall in front of him. He had to act now. Instantly dismissing his spear, which disappeared in a burst of cold mist, he refocused on the curse he'd cast, ran and leaped upon the assassin.
No action to dismiss his Pact weapon.
Using an Action to make an Athletics Check to grapple the halfling: 21
Presuming the chase has been going on less than an hour, the Hex should still be impeding Dexterity ability checks.
"Not so fast!" he snarled as he held onto the struggling cloaked figure.
If that wins the contest, Elwin will hold the assassin down until the residents arrive, at which point he'll bind him with rope from his backpack. If no one comes to help, he'll try to bind him by himself.
If the assassin wins the contest, then I believe it's his turn.

Tori crawls directly above the sleeping man, sliding down a thread of silk to his chest. Her head and abdomen swell and expand, her legs come together into four limbs, and finally, her playfully twitching tail extends from just above her perky demonic bottom.
As her body expands across the man, she giggles and lays a finger on his nose. Webs shoot from it, running down his face, across the bed to cover his hands and feet and firmly anchors to the bed posts and then the floor. She pulls her finger away, making sure to leave him room to see, breath and speak, of course!
She smiles and places her elbows on his chest, still laying on top of him. She kicks her feet casually in the air above her back, her tail twisting down and under the covers, up his leg, to begin tickling his inner thigh.
Her eyes become moist and turn an amazingly beautiful glacial blue color, flecks of purple and green swirling through them like little galaxies. She licks her lips once with the tip of her tongue and puts on her most sultry facial expression as she awaits the inevitable flicker of his eyes.
"Yoohoo, sleepy boy" she croons in a soft whisper. "It's time for your morning snack..."
