Torment, wondering how the Alchemist's mouth became covered by her web spell when she hadn't cast it there, thinks perhaps some wild magic must be afoot!
With gentle fingers, she peels the webbing away from his face entirely - "Good morning, Sunshine. Despite appearances, I've actually come here to be a possible ally to you. I just had to make sure you didn't do anything crazy when you noticed I was here."
She gingerly wipes a strand of web away from his eyebrow staring deep into his eyes. "Now if I let you up, will you promise to have a civil conversation with lil ol' me? Pretty please?"
"I'd love to know why there is a contract out on your head. A little birdy told me that you are to be kidnapped and taken straight to the Big Cookie himself. I am hoping to enlist your help in taking that Dough Boi down... What do you say?"
Her teeth gleam as she gives him a sweet smile, eyes still sparkling. To make sure he is fully invested, she wiggles forward a bit, squeezing her arms together and wiggling her chest slightly so he can have a nice cheery visual to start his morning.
The Alchemist shivers a bit, paralyzed with fear and webs..."Aaaah, please don't kill me, She-Devil! I'll talk...I received a visit a few days ago...a Green Dragonborn by the name of Thardax the Murderer...wanted to buy a bunch of poison and such nasty stuff...I turned him down....then a few days later I received another visit...from this masked man who could talk through my head...i dont remember much, except for waking up the next morning with half of my inventory missing...basic ingredients, transmutation potions...and now some Big Wig criminal has a hit on me? What in Meryn's name have I ever done?"
Meanwhile, Elwin and Tam both look at the Halfling Assassin...something wiggles in the very corner of his right eye...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tori sits up and furrows her brow. "Well it seems that you aren't going to be much help to me..." crossing her arms, she sighs "Silly me, I was thinking we could at least talk about the first thing that popped up" she gives their pelvic intersection point an incredulous glance before swinging a leg over to her right and dismounting his web covered personage. Her tail gives lower belly a light smack as its flattened, spade shaped tip comes across the bed.
Maybe I can use you as some sort of bait, she thinks. I am starting to wonder if I'm going to get myself killed.
Rolling her eyes and giving a wave of her hand, the webs whither and disappear, freeing the man. "Well, we haven't got all day, up you go! Let's here some reasons why I should keep you alive. I'm sure you can guess that your potions could be of great assistance to someone who is trying to make a Dough ball out of Mr. Chocolate Chip... Tell me more about that too, please."
She leans against the wall, making sure to avoid any windows completely. "You should roll out of bed low and stay to the floor until you make it out of sight from the windows... I've no idea if we're being watched, but I have a feeling you are expendable."
"Would it be safer to speak in your basement?" she had been hoping to explore that anyway. As she talks at the man, she scans his room for anything interesting, ducking low when passing any windows. She rifles through his drawers and closets and peaks under his bed, looking for any secrets, weapons or trap doors.
Perception - 13 for looking around and finding goodies.
Persuasion for convincing him to trust her, help her and unlock the basement- 15
Now that Tam had caught up, Elwin felt somewhat relieved. He'd not wanted to screw things up by attempting to restrain the assassin single-handedly, only to have him squirm out of grip and get away.
"I've got rope in my backpack," he announced unceremoniously to the ranger, just in the unlikely case she had none of her own. "I can hold him if you want to do the honors of hog-tying the miscreant."
It was just then that he noticed something... strange going on with the halfling's eye. A glance at Tam convinced him that she had seen it, too.
"And, I'm not sure what that was," he muttered, shifting his weight to allow her easier access to the target's hands. "But maybe we should get this guy to a doctor once he's restrained, eh?"
The Alchemist takes Tori down to his dusty basement. There are crates full of random potions, books, alchemical ingredients...
Tori's passive perception allows her to barely notice a slender, cloaked figure emerge from under a table, and attempt to take a stab at the Alchemist.
Roll INITIATIVE! The Assassin got a 19.
Meanwhile, Elwin and Tam need to roll ATHLETICS DC 14 in order to bind the infected Halfling Assassin with rope. You may roll a cooperative check, by designating a leader, who will roll with advantage
As X remains oblivious to the danger inside the Alchemist's house, Tori watches as the assassin comes out from under the table, and attempts to stab her...and rolls an 8....miss...she may now react
Torment laughs at the assassin's failed attempt at stabbery. Shouting over her shoulder in a gruff voice to the Alchemist - "Find a barrel or something to hide in! You never know how many of these bastards magically appeared in your basement."
She holds her left hand over her chest as and extends right her palm all in one swift motion, her eyes erupting in green fire as an acrid fluid sprays onto the assassin, noxious mist rising from the hot poison as it makes contact with the killer's form. As her right hand performs, her left swings over her shoulder, pulling her Oak and Mistletoe emblazoned shield from her back to guard her from the intruder's next attack. At least I don't kill the owners of the homes I invade!she thinks.
Poison Spray - The creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw DC 15 or take 2d12 poison damage.
The poison gas hits the assassin full force (rolls a 13 on his con save). He coughs up green foam, and instantly collapses to the floor, choking on his own fluids...
Torment non-nonchalantly tosses her shield back around her shoulder and kisses her amulet. Thank you, Mother for you for you poisonous touch upon my foes, she silently prays.
Turning back to the Alchemist she chirps "I told you I was on your team! Hopefully there is no question at this point. So... any ideas where the kidnapper was intending to take you? Surely you can think of some kind of clue."
She turns back to the assassin, pulling off its clothing to discover its race and facial features. She speaks without turning around "Does this look familiar to you?"
Tori gives the Alchemist a quick glance to make sure he's not a backstabbing idiot before rifling through the killer's pockets and equipment, looking for goodies and clues.
As Tori strips the Assassin of his mask, revealing a slender High Elf visage, the Alchemist pauses...
"I...I know this Elf...he and his sister were both headlining stage actors, at the Bard's College...they were recently replaced by two of those...Knights of the Hanging Chicken, for the Remembrance day Celebration...word is they stormed out of the Bard's College, furious, vowing revenge. I think their parents actually paid the director quite a large sum of money, too...but again, what does ANY of that have to do with me?"
Both Tori and X may roll Perception and Medicine
Meanwhile, Tam and Elwin still need to roll a team Athletics check to restrain the assassin once and for all...
X's hand was still tightly around the man's arm as he began to make his way to the door as he turned to the person "what exactly is an arcane lock" X asked as he went to the door
