Torwen asks the woman "What would the paying job be? Would it be anything to do with these Redbrands? I ask only because you mentioned it after talk of those vermin."
The woman looks at Torwen. "It might," she says slowly. "They are a blight on the town and Phandalin needs to be rid of them. However, like with most things, cut off the head and the rest dies." She looks at the party, mouth pinched. "The real leader is Glasstaff, the wizard. Eliminate him and the rest will leave. I can offer you 100gp as a reward if you can do that. I'll need proof, of course," she says. "Bring me any correspondence you find in his quarters - that should suffice," she says coolly.
((Hello everyone! I'm Baumer! Delta invited me here to replace the people who have left. I've been playing 5e for a couple years now, and run a decently active PbP Discord server. I've not done PbP in a forum, but I'll give it a try.
I'll be playing a Wood Elf Ranger named Amorilan. I spoken with the DM, and agreed that I am a friend/acquaintance of Kierro's.))
Most elves you encounter are clean, and proper. Not this one... Amorilan looks like he belongs in the woods. His armor is well worn, and his cloak is torn. He wears a sort of camouflage on his face to aid in hiding in the woods from his prey. On his back, however, is an immaculate longbow. It looks well taken care of, and you can tell a great deal of care has gone into the design, and look of the bow. As he walks in, he pointlessly brushes the dust off of his cloak (it doesn't help), and looks up...
"Good Kierro! What brings you here? I see you've met some new friends..."
“And yet previous ones haven’t been forgotten.” Kierro says, a gleam in his eyes. “Wonderful to see you again, Amorilan. I’d like you to meet Victor and Torwen.”
”We took a job escorting a wagon of goods here, and ended up finding that a group called the Redbrands have been running amok in this town, committing various crimes. After some searching, we found a tunnel that leads to their leader’s base. Would you like to assist us?”
"I've escorted my fair share of caravans in my day, as you well know. You've been with me a few times." Amorilan's face turns to a frown... "I've there's one thing I despise more than any beast I've put down, it's bandits! No regard for life or anything really... I'd he happy to help you put an end to their tomfoolery!"
After all your wandering about town, it's getting to be late afternoon. As you head towards the secret tunnel using the directions Carp provided, you pass a few townfolk on their way home for supper, but most of the journey is quiet. Finding your way through the woods, you eventually come upon the hidden tunnel.
"If you all don't mind, I can take the lead to be on the lookout for and traps, or hidden dangers. These bandits probably have all sorts of traps set..."
"That is fine with me, especially since I can not see at night as it is. Thank you." Victor replies and then reaches down to grab a rock and casts Light on it. That way he can hold it in his hand or place it in his pocket to make sure the light does not give them away, but can provide something that he can see with.

OOC: 30 gp is fine with me too.

"Well that does seem to correspond with what we are already going to be doing, so sounds like a deal. Thank you." Victor says.
She smirks and says, "We have a deal, then."

(Glad to have you, Baumer.)
Kierro hands her the statue and accepts the 30 gp.
"Thank you, madam, for your time and business. May I ask your name?"
"My name is Halia. Just come back here with the proof - I'll be waiting," she says.
"Thank you, Miss Halia. I look forward to it." Kierro says. He bows and turns to the party. "Shall we head off?"
"Unless anyone else has something to do in town, we should be good to go." Victor comments.
As the party turns to leave, the door opens and an elf walks in. He looks around, spies Kierro, and his face lights up with recognition.
((Baumer - I'll let you describe your character and we'll go from here))

"Great! Let's be off, then." Kierro leads the group back to the secret tunnel.

Kierro moves behind Amorilan as the group moves down the tunnel, shield at the ready.
Amorilan - looking into the tunnel, you can't see any light sources. You do notice that there are lots of tracks, coming and going, from the tunnel.
((Survival - 6 )) "Good thing you brought a light, Victor. It's dark down there... many tracks though."
