"I am worried about this item. I think it's evil. Some at the school are interested in knowledge of all sorts. Most are good and honest mages but I am still not sure who might want to use this thing to further their power or find out more from sheer curiosity."

Basilly nods and then says, "Well, you have come to the right place. One of the roles of a Seeker is to destroy evil magicks."

The door is then opened by the guard and Basilly gestures to Guilliame saying, "Come on then. You do not want to get stuck in here, do you?"

[OOC: Guilliame notes that at no time did he hear or see the door being locked or unlocked, but Basilly is acting as if it had been.]

"I will come to your shop as soon as I can, will you be there?" asks Basilly.

"Thank you. I hope to see you soon."

Basilly turns and leaves heading further into the Temple. Meanwhile, the guard stands holding the door open obviously waiting for Guilliame to leave.

[OOC: What do you want Guilliame to do now?]

Head back to the school and the library.

Guilliame exits the interview room and the Temple proper and walks across the square past the Bank of Sorenden heading towards the gates of the ward. However, just as he is passing an ornate carriage pulled up outside the bank, he is hailed. 

"De Marchant? Guilliame de Marchant," says a familiar voice.

Guilliame turns to see Tomas Tambor, the Sheriff of the Scholar's Ward, looking out of the carriage window.

"Can I offer you a lift?" says Tambor. "I am just now heading back to the Ward."

"Hello Sheriff. Yes, thank you. We can discuss my first night tonight."

Tambor opens the carriage door and then shifts across to allow Guilliame to enter the carriage and take a seat. Then, after opening a shutter in the front wall of the cabin, Tambor says, "Back to the Ward, please."

As the carriage lurches into motion, Tambor closes the shutter and then turns to Guilliame and says, "I must admit to being surprised to see you coming out of the Temple of Donai. I did not think you religious at all, let alone an adherent of the god of death... Or, perhaps there has been a death in your family? If so, you have my sincere condolences."

"No, thank goodness. I was just talking to someone I know in the temple to try to find a mutual acquaintance.  No luck though."

"Glad to hear," says Tambor, settling back in his seat. There is a period of silence as the carriage rolls out through the gates of the Temple Ward.

"You wanted to talk about tonight?" Tambor says, as the carriage enters the traffic travelling along the main route that heads towards the bridge across to the northern island. 

"I just wanted to make sure I don't overstep any bounds. Do you think I should bring my sword for self-defence?"

"You should not need it," says Tambor. "You will be more useful to the watch as a magus than a man at arms... Though I, personally, would understand if you would feel safer with a sword at your side. If you like, I can give you a letter of authority to carry it while on Ward business?"

"That would be useful, thank you. I just learnt a spell for magickal crowd control so that might be useful under the correct circumstances."

"Certainly," says Tambor. "If you do not mind a detour to the Sheriff's Office, I will draft the letter for you as soon as we get there."

"I envy you, you know," continues Tambor after a moment. "I have no magick of my own, but find the whole idea of sorcery and doing magick greater than the simple rituals I have managed to master fascinating... I presume sorcery runs in your family. Is that correct?"

"Not to my knowledge but I don't know my family history in detail."

"Interesting," says Tambor thoughtfully. "I have vaguely heard of the Marchant family. If you are interested, I might be able to get you access to the official records so you can at least find out about that side of your family..."

As Tambor is saying this, Guilliame see the bridge to the northern island come into view; travelling in an official carriage is certainly much faster than walking.

"Tell me," begins Tambor. "Did your studies at the School of Occult Studies include the domain of divination? I have a couple of magical curiosities that I would like to have identified."

"I have some knowledge in that area. I try to identify that for you but I can't guarantee any results."

"I completely understand," says Tambor. "But your chances are far better than mine. What would your charges be?"

At this point, the carriage is forced to slow down as it joins the build up of traffic crossing the bridge.

"My standard fee is 1 Engle per investigation."

"Really?" says Tambor, sounding a little surprised. He then smiles and adds, "I will certainly pay that much for the chance to find out what some of my curios might do. I already know they are magickal; Saladin, my bookkeeper has been able to tell me that much."

There is a pause during which the carriage makes its way onto the bridge having been given priority of travel by a city guard controlling traffic.

"Would it be possible for me to observe you while you do your magick?" asks Tambor, sounding tentative.
