Go and do the Identify spell. Look around for a small bit of broken crockery or something water tight that can be disposed of at the end. Set up the Identify spell pearl and requirements in the backroom. Pour a small amount of the black liquid into the crockery and perform the spell.

Do spell in the bedroom. Before doing the spell tip a bit into the receptacle and touch the surface with the tip of my pinky. If nothing drastic happens then try to wash it off outside with some water. If all seems fine then proceed with the spell.
Tentatively placing his finger tip in a drop of the syrupy liquid, Guilliame gets no immediate reaction and is able to wash off the residue without any problems. Deciding that he will be able to cast the spell, he begins his casting.

[As Guilliame is proficient in the use of a Brewer's Kit and a Herbalism Kit and he is trying to analyse a potion, I will allow him his full proficiency bonus for this roll (He does not actually have proficiency with Arcana but gets a half bonus because he is an innate sorcerer with Mage Sight. The end result is the above roll is actually a 14.]
As the Identify ritual proceeds, Guilliame lets his mind begin to 'feel' the influences that have affected the elixir that he is in contact with...

First comes the image of the potion's creator, who is indeed Saladin Brassman. Guilliame then gets an impression of Brassman creating the potion in a small room lit by a flame that looks like the one Guilliame saw briefly in Brassman's hidden room downstairs...
Brassman also taste tests the potion before sealing it away inside a darkened container of inert glass.
Attempting to learn more, Guilliame delves deeper with the magic of his spell...
He does not see anything more, but somehow knows that the original potion has been diminished because other people have partaken of some of it...
And there is nothing more to see or learn... Except perhaps the knowledge of what the potion is made of, which slowly reveals itself to his questing mind through the power of the ritual.
