Although Guilliame doesn't hear anything bad in the conversation between Tambor and the Granes—he is enquiring after the health and checking to see if any damage has been done to the building—it is clear that Granes are anxious, and perhaps even a little scared, of him.

Guilliame's attention is drawn back outside as Tambor's man and three of the city guards come into sight at the end of the street running in his direction.

"Master de Guilliame," says Tambor coming to the door. "Thank you again for helping the Granes, but you don't need to stay here any longer. Perhaps you should go and see to the safety of your own home and family... You have a mother, if memory serves me correctly? These are unsettled times, perhaps you should go and check that she is okay."

"Thank you. I think I will do that."

To the Granes "I hope you are alright. Is there anything I can do for you?"

"No, thank you," says the woman. "You have done enough. Go help your own family."

"Yes," says Tambor. "I will have a word with these guards and find out how this sort of thing could have happened. People pay their taxes and expect to be safe in their own homes."

Then he adds, "Thank you again, Master de Guilliame."

He then turns to address the approaching guards.

[OOC: Does Guilliame head home?]

Yes. Straight home at a quick walk.

Guilliame makes his way through the streets and quickly finds his way home only to find Granny Naomi anxiously waiting for him.

"Are you alright?" she asks, when she first sees him. Then she adds, "What happened?"

"Do you know the Granes? Some people associated with the temple told them to leave town because they followed the wrong religion and attacked them. I ran into Bassily and he helped me chase them off. I am worried they know it was me. I know I said this before but we will need to be on guard. Bassily was going to speak to Seeker Lomani and I am hoping that the good people in the church might be able to keep the bad ones in check but I just don't know."

"The other disturbing thing is that they know who I am and they all got away. I've said this before but we will need to be on guard. Hopefully either me or Sam can be here most of the time."

"All this is making me paranoid. I don't know much about Sam. I have no reason to suspect him but I have been meaning to quietly ask around the school about him but the people I trust have been busy. Do you think he is alright?"

Naomi is very concerned by what Guilliame says, but when he asks if Sam is alright, she laughs.

"He is far too young and naive to be involved in anything suspicious," she says. "He's also a Stemian and knows the ways of the land and the spirits... I would trust him more than this Basilly and his master."

Then she asks, "Are the Granes safe? They are also followers of Liluri."

"Master Granes was injured but I don't think badly. The way things are I don't think they, or anyone else, who is following anything other than the Mithran pantheon are safe."

Naomi looks around at the interior of the shop and then says, "I have lived here for so long that I don't know where else we would go, but do you think we should leave too?"

"We just need to be careful and see how things go. There are people out there who don't like what is happening so there is some hope. I'm going to rest up to get my magic back. I will set an Alarm tonight. If anything happens yell."

If Naomi says nothing else then go to my room and get sword out ready. Then meditate.

[OOC: Under 5E rules, a Wizard character has the 'Arcane Recovery' ability, which allows them to recover spell slots between long rests (For Guilliame, this is 1 first level slot as a 1st level wizard). For the moment, that's the closest Guilliame can get to my original idea of meditation. After a long rest of 8 hours, he will recover all his spell slots.]

"Okay," says Granny Naomi and then she asks, "But what about my trip to the farmer's market tomorrow? Will you come with me?"

OOC Does Guilliame need a short rest to recover for an Alarm spell or because it is a ritual it doesn't require that.

To Naomi "Yes. I'd be happy to go down to the market with you."

[OOC: As a wizard, Guilliame can cast a spell that is classed as a ritual (taking an extra 10 minutes to do the ritual) without using a spell slot. Technically he would need to have his spell book with him, but I'm not hard on that, but he will need to have any necessary spell components the ritual requires.]

To Naomi "Yes. I'd be happy to go down to the market with you."

"Thank you, Guilliame," says Granny Naomi with a smile. "You're a good lad. I will see you in the morning, bright and early."

"Yes. I am going to cast Alarm spells tonight, as much for practice as anything. So once you are ready to retire I'll lock up and prepare them."

Granny Naomi retires to bed and Guilliame starts setting up his arcane alarms around the windows and doors.

[OOC: The Alarm ritual requires some specification to be defined, could you please tell me what they are (i.e., is it an audible alarm, are there any exclusion, etc.).]

Cast of Alarm spell is as previous cast - Mental alarm. Only people/creatures to not set of the alarm are Naomi, cat and Guilliame. Before cast of spell double check all the doors and windows are fully closed and bolted. Have broadsword out and by the bed. Don't sleep in armour but have boots ready to put on.

Guilliame has just completed his second alarm and is about to do the last one—the one on the front door—when there is a loud knocking on it.

Go to the door. Call out. "Who is it?"
