Tell Naomi "I recognised a girl who was one of the street kids that tried to pick my pocket. For whatever reason they seem to be targeting me. I was thinking it was religious zealots. Maybe it is religious zealots telling these kids to do things but then the first attack was before I had done anything to upset them. It gives me a chance to follow up though. I can check with the guards or maybe at the Wing and Prayer messenger service. I might even call in to meet your old friend Gerad to see whether he knows anything about them as he helped capture some. What do you think?"

Granny Naomi looks at Guilliame uncertainly. "My old friend? You don't mean Gerard Assam, do you?"

Then she laughs and says, "I'm surprised he even remembers my name. I haven't seen him in years and he moves in much higher social circles than I do."

Becoming serious, she asks, "What do you mean by religious zealots?"

"A couple of nights ago I saw some people trying to convince an old man and his wife to leave town because they didn't follow the Mithran pantheon. My name was bandied about and I suspect I upset a few people. Some of the Mithrans seem fine but there are some fanatics wandering about thinking they can threaten who they like and get away with it."

[OOC: Hi Andrew. Sorry for the delay, but I didn't get a notification about your last move and yesterday was a very busy day.]

"Tsk, tsk, tsk," says Naomi. "There are indeed people who will take advantage of any situation... But why would this young thief get involved with the likes of them?"

"I have no idea and there may be no connection whatsoever."

Have a look out and see whether if the fire is out and things are clear. Is there some work that could be more quickly completed with an Unseen servant?

[OOC: The fire is out and Guilliame cannot see anyone in the back yard. With regard to using the Unseen Servant spell, Guilliame doesn't have it as one of his Prepared spells, which are: Burning Hands, Charm Person and Protection from Evil and Good. This means he would need to cast it as a ritual, which would take 10 minutes. The nature of the damage is such that he could probably tidy things up quicker than taking the 10 minutes.]

Granny Naomi sighs and then moves over to the stove and starts poking in the fire box to try to bring some life back to the coals. "Char?" she queries. "I'm not going to be able to get back to sleep after all that excitement."

"Yes, please. I'll do a quick tidy up and see if anything can be saved. Tonight, as in tomorrow night,  I'll do some alarm spells again, and keep doing them for a while."

Guilliame goes out the back and manages to recover about twenty percent of the jartinal weed that was on the rack. However, the rack itself will probably need to be replaced as it looks like someone tried to deliberately break it before it was set on fire.

While he is outside, he takes the opportunity to use the toilet and finds he has to step out into the service lane behind the house to replace the nightsoil barrel, which had been removed and left in the lane. In doing so, he gets the chance to look at the small access hatch in the fence that connects to the outhouse and he comes to the realisation that a full-grown man could not have used these to gain access to the back yard of his house. This means that if there were two or more people involved in the setting of the fire, they must all have been about the same size as the girl he saw. Either that, or they were able to get both in and out of the barred back gate and replace the bar when they left.

OOC Would there have been time for the other arsonist to get out the unbarred back gate, the girl to bar it, and then run to the toilet? (Haven't typed that out it seems rather unlikely to go to that fuss.)

Tell Naomi that it is probably street urchins involved, explain about the toilet issue.

"So keep an eye out on small people. They are not to be trusted."

"Hmmph," says Granny Naomi when hearing the news. "What are the younger people coming too these days."

She hands Guilliame his cup of char and then says, "Well, we can't open the shop until morning, so I'm going to go to do some tidying up. What about you?"

"I can't understand why this is happening unless these kids are being put up; to it. Anyway alarm spells every night from now on. I'll help you tidy up and then might have a lie in and go to school later."

After tidying up, Guilliame heads back to bed and wakes later still feeling a little weary. [OOC: Guilliame has had a long rest and is now back to full hit points.]

Granny Naomi is up before him and gives him breakfast. "We'll need to replace that drying rack," she says, handing him another cup of char. "Is that something you want to do, or should I wait till when Sam can look after the shop for me sometime?"

"I can do that. It'll make a change. I might go and see Gerad Assam. He asked how you were so he might want to help. I might even send a message to Brand if it isn't too expensive."

"Good," says Naomi. "I bought that rack in the Mercantile District years ago. For a good price, if I remember correctly, but I doubt the same stall is there... You'll have to arrange someone to deliver it; it's too big for one person to carry."

Then she adds, "And, if there aren't any sellers there, then you will find plenty in the Western District. That is if you feel like going back there." 

"I'll try the mercantile district first and see what I can find."

Have a nice breakfast and head off.

Before going ask "What sort of price do you think?"

Granny Naomi tells Guilliame that he shouldn't spend more than a couple of Constantines and that he should get something equivalent to what has been destroyed.

Have a quick reminder inspection of what was there (from the remains), add 3 cons to the purse, and head off to market.
