"I might just do that," says Dora.

She then turns to Velma and says, "Have you used this shop?"

Then she glances back to Guilliame and smiles before asking, "Did he give you a discount?"

"Mother," says Velma with a long-suffering tone to her voice before bringing Guilliame as cup of char.

"Just ignore her," Velma says to Guilliame. "She can get a bit feisty when she's had something to drink."

Dora just snorts and takes a drink from her mug.

"Did your reading today help?" Velma asks, trying to change the subject.

"I still don't know the spell but I think I'm further along. I'll try again tomorrow if I'm not needed around the shop. Anyway thank you for the char but I need head home. It was very nice to meet you Dora. Have a good night." 

"It is nice to finally meet you too, Master de Marchant," says Dora. "And there's no need to go on the count of me. I was just going to have a little bit of that stew and then toddle off to bed... I take it you two have already eaten?"

"Yes, mother," says Velma. "Guilliame bought me a nice meal at that Scholar's Retreat eatery I told you about. It is really high class."

"Half your luck," says Dora to Velma. "But I suppose being attacked took the shine off the evening."

She then turns to Guilliame and asks, "Are you going to be okay getting home?

"I'm sure I'll be OK. But I will be extra careful. Watch your step as well. I will see you tomorrow I hope. Goodnight."

Velma accompanies Guilliame to the door and gives him a quick good night kiss under the watchful gaze of her mother.

"You might need this," she then adds, handing him the torch he gave her.

"I will take it, thank you. Better safe than sorry. I'll buy you a nice one tomorrow."

Light the torch using a Prestidigitation.

Velma waves Guilliame goodbye as he heads off through the streets on his way home with the rain still falling sporadically.

At one point he does hear the flapping of wings in the darkness, but he arrives home unmolested where he finds that Granny Naomi is already in bed and snoring softly.

[OOC: No. The spell is not forgotten, it is just not prepared. At 1st level, Guilliame can prepare 3 spells of 1st level or higher (i.e., his Wizard level plus his Intelligence Bonus). He now has 4 spells that can be prepared, so one of them has to be missed out. Spells that can be cast as rituals don't need to be prepared, unless you want to cast them quickly. When Guilliame goes up a level as a Wizard, he will be able to prepare 4 spells and can then add Protection from Good and Evil to his list of prepared spells. Note, this does not apply to cantrips.]

[OOC: Guilliame is currently down 7 hit points and as a member of the Fighter class has numerous ways of recovering those hit points.

For example, as a Fighter he has a feature called Second Wind, which he can use to recover 1d10 + his Fighter level hit points as a Bonus Action. This feature is recovered every time he has at least a short rest (i.e., resting for 1 hour).

All characters can also roll some of their hit dice as part of sleeping and recover half of them if the sleep is uninterrupted (minimum regained is 1). Every hit die rolled has the character's Constitution bonus added to it (i.e., +1 for Guilliame) and the dice can be rolled one at a time, stopping when necessary. Granny Naomi's special ointment also adds a +1 to each hit dice (Note: the ointment doesn't boost the Second Wind roll).

This means using Second Wind and 1 hit dice will return Guilliame a minimum of 6 hit points without any disadvantage as long as he gets a proper night's rest to recover the hit dice used. 

I would suggest rolling Second Wind as a start, as there is no disadvantage from doing this as long as he can at least rest for an hour afterwards.

Guilliame goes around and sets up his Alarm spells before rubbing on some of Granny Naomi's ointment and going to bed.

He wakes next morning after an undisturbed night's rest to hear Granny Naomi pottering around in the kitchen.

[OOC: It is now the 23rd day of Korhalas. Guilliame still feels a little sore, but is on full hit points and has all his spell slots back.]

After a bit of breakfast ask Naomi if there is anything around the shop that needs doing. If not then head to library.

As Granny Naomi makes Guilliame some breakfast she asks where he was last night.

"I had a very pleasant dinner with Velma and after we went back to her house and I met her mother who is very nice. Other than that the only minor thing was I was bashed up, robbed and then frozen. Still feeling a bit sore but otherwise OK. How was it in the shop yesterday?"

Granny Naomi drops the wooden spoon she was holding in response to hearing that Guilliame has been bashed again.

"Bashed! Robbed!" she exclaims. "Surely someone must have cursed you to have such bad luck. If only Fini were still in town. I would get him to give you a blessing."

"I need all the blessings I can get. This was one of the fellows that I stopped robbing the man at the market. He's been on my tail apparently. I don't know whether this is the end of it as far as he is concerned or not. I have to work out whether it's the end as far as I'm concerned sometime. I'm still thinking about it. What do you think I should do?"

"Talk to the guard," replies Granny Naomi. "This man is a villain. He cannot go throwing his weight around and expect to get away with it. You are a tax payer. You have witnesses to say that he attacked you. They will lock him up for sure."

"OK. I'm just worried he knows where we live. If the attacks had come after our initial altercation I would have suspected him of them but the timing wasn't right. There is also his buddy Will who wasn't around this time as far as I know."

"Anyway, is there something for me to do around the shop. Otherwise I'll try to finish the Sleep spell I am working on. It might be more useful than blowing stuff up if I'm attacked in a crowded place."
