Pax shakes her head, and mentally says,  "I don't want to be within 200 feet of this tower when all of the demon lords are summoned. We should leave the tower first for certain. We should all still look like drow. The spell lasts a long time."

Kaylyn carried the diamond in her hands as they came through the portal.  The statue startled her but Kirin quickly banished it.  As the others spoke of leaving she placed the diamond into a secure pouch on her waist.  She did not want the diamond to draw attention. Still distracted by the situation Pensive had somehow gotten himself in she allowed the others to rush her out the door.  She heard what Pax said about the talisman, yes it needed to be placed and they did need to get away, but first things first.  But did she mishear and they meant to send a message now?

She glanced around and did not see the talisman, yes she must have misheard.  

She followed the others out, trying to regain the facade of a drow mage so they can leave the tower safely. 

Rhayna leaves with the others as well. She is a little bit lost thinking about what should be done with the tome.

The door to the chamber swings open at a touch, but Valimar the drow escort is nowhere to be seen. In addition, there is a sense of tension in the air, palpable even here at the top of an empty stair. As the group descend, they see other evidences of a change in the environment - drow wizards rushing from place to place, shouted commands from distant voices, and a sense of magic charging the air, like a storm-head ready to break. The group descends further down the tower, back to the main foyer, somehow escaping notice (or being ignored). But the snatches of excited chatter reveal the reason for the change - the city has received word that intruders are anticipated - powerful surface-dwellers who seek to infiltrate the city. It is not know when they will arrive or from which direction or how many - in fact some suggest they may already be here - but the entire city is on heightened alert, vigilantly watching for any sign of invasion.

After exiting the tower of Sorcere, the group notice that the entire plateau of Tier Breche is alive with activity as drow warriors, priestesses and mages scurry around, organising defenses and setting watches. Those in command seem to be preparing for multiple contingencies, as though unsure whether a small stealthy band or a large army is expected. There is nothing to indicate what the source of the information is, but it seems apparent that the city has been tipped off. Whether this was an effort from a supposed ally to betray the group, or as a clever ruse to deflect attention away from the fact that the group were already here, is uncertain. What is also uncertain is whether the giant jade spiders that loom nearby at the top of the stairway are still inactive - it seems unlikely that their magic is still suppressed. The plateau is a buzz of activity, and it wouldn't be difficult to find a place to remain inconspicuous somewhere amongst the tower, the cathedral or the pyramid, but it seems that exit from the plateau will be difficult.

"Do we even have to leave?" Sekkar looked skeptically at the commotion around. "The demons will spawn here, we are supposed to be nearby - I still say we can wait out the initial strike in the rope-hut. We can find a quiet corner," he looked around for one, "signal Viserian that all is set and climb into the hut. Maybe let's begin the show already? The drow are ready to participate, why do we hesitate?"

"The demons will not spawn here, they're already in the underdark. They'll be pulled here and they're going to wreck everything and I doubt a hut will remains intact in the heart of the battle of demon lords, being that reign supreme over the abyss. All of these drows will collateral, they just dont know it," Kirin tries to explain, "I rather view these events from a safe distance and we deal with the remains. Also I doubt the demon lords will come without their armies," 

Pax glances at Sekkar, and responds in his head, "That actually sounds fine to me.  Let's find someplace out of the way behind the cathedral. When the demon invasion begins we can either take shelter in a Rope Trick or use the chaos of the attack to descend into the city to a safer location."

It is a simple enough matter to find a relatively quiet location away from the bustle, around the far side of the huge spider-shaped cathedral. Most of the defensive efforts are being focused on the great stairway that accesses the plateau anyway, and none are suspecting any invasion from behind. It is the moment of action, that weeks of work has built towards, and time to enact the plan. The location has been chosen, the talisman planted, and now the final spell must be cast by Vizeran.

Vizeran has supplied the group with a scroll containing the Sending spell. What would you like to send in 25 words or less?

Rhayna just follows the group, still lost in thoughts. Actually, more lost than the usual.

Pax snaps her fingers getting everyone’s attention. Mentally she snaps at everyone, “Hey. Hey. We don’t do this until we all agree. This is a big deal. We decide the fates of many today. The talisman is in the library at the top. I will use this scroll to tell Vizeran a single word: ‘Now’.  Then we will wait here and hide in a Rope Trick if things get too hairy. Do you each agree? Are we ready or should we do anything first? Free Pensive first maybe?”

Pax will refuse to proceed until each person agrees and everyone seems clear about what’s about to happen.

Sekkar just nodded. Obviously, he agreed and stand ready with rope in his hands. There was no way to pass the watching siders and getting caught meant either getting killed on spot or rotting in jail (with the periodical torcher) for three days until Vizeran releases the demons. And then meeting sad demons naked. Not the best of choices.

Rhayna snaps out of her thoughts. “Freeing Pensive first is a good idea.” (Can Rhayna help Kaylyn?)

Kaylyn looked around a bit confused.  "What do you mean alert Vizeran?  The talisman is in the tower?  When did we agree to leave it in the tower?  What have we done?"  Kaylyn begins to grow angry, and frustrated. 

Looking around and beginning to understand what is happening around them she grows even more frustrated "Pensive is trapped, we have need to try and free him.  I would think that a Dispel Magic incantation would suffice, but it would need to be powerful enough to overcome the magic that trapped Pensive."

She looks to Kirin, Pax and Rhayna. "Can any of you Dispel Magic?  It would be a difficult spell to over come but you are all capable of weaving spells of strength.  Can one of you try?" She looks pleadingly at them.

"If it'll be three days until the event itself, we should probe for methods of escape of the city. You told me you had an encounter with a demon lord I believe Demogorgon, destroyed the fishing city and you were left scrambling to get away by land and sea. This city is more strudy then the fishing village but this scale of destruction that is coming is exponentially greater. I rather watch it from a very safe distance to keep my lack of better term sanity as well," Kirin still encouraging them to leave, "If anything, we head to the walls of the city and if possible, create a nook then use your rope trick to hide in,"

"Yes, yes, but what of Pensive?  Can you try and free him, do you know such a spell?" Kaylyn says, frustrated.

Kirin sighs and takes a moment to analysis the gem for solutions.

Arcana: 20

Pax looks to Kirin and mentally responds, "No, it will not be three days. Once we inform Vizeran, things will happen very quickly. Three days was how long he would wait to cast his spell only if he didn't hear from us and could not scry on the location. If we want to get further away, perhaps Kaylyn can teleport us somewhere else in the city. Vizeran confirmed teleportation should work within the city just fine. But, who knows how the demon lords will arrive. But also, we need to be close to see what's happening?  When the demon lords are weak we best be in a position to strike."  She looks to Kaylyn, "Unfortunately I do not have the Dispel Magic spell prepared. I will have to wait to be able to cast it. But, once i have it ready, I have no doubts that multiple castings will eventually free Pensive. To the other topic however. Kaylyn, I've been very clear about where I've put things and what I've been doing. But, I sense you've been distracted, so that is why I am now making sure you understand. We still have time to change things if we really want to. Please, focus on this for a few moments. We can easily rescue Pensive once we have time to work on it, but right now, we need to decide about the talisman and the demons."

"I believe Kirin is able to cast the spell at a higher level than I can." Responds Rhayna, and she will also take a look at the gem.

(I burned a 6lvl slot in the maze, so I only have 5th lvl slots)

Kirin and Rhayna both agree that the spell holding Pensive captive is of the highest order, and only a ninth-circle spell would guarantee success. A less powerful dispelling may work, but it would not be assured...

It is a ninth-level spell, so a DC roll of 19 with your spellcasting ability would be required.

P.S. I love how everyone is responding to the tension (at least that's the way I interpret it) so everyone has received Inspiration.
