"If we keep getting our sleep interupted like this we will end up having to stay put an entire day soon, otherwise we'll be as good as dead anyway."  Tempest grumbles as she gets groggily to her feet. She wavers as she stands, placing a hand against the wall to support herself.  "I can't go on much more like this..." She informs the group.

"Let's get moving..." Buppito says as he gets to his feet.  "We can put some more distance between us and em Drow before we find a better, more defensible, camp..." He waves everyone along as he tries to lead them off again.

Ront reports as he gets ready to move Not one I recognize, though mostly darkelf look like darkelf. It was that tunnel he points not where we came from

"If we leave now we'll be in just as much trouble as if we stay. We're out of food and haven't rested." Don says, darkly, "If we keep up this pace we'll be dead of starvation and exhaustion when they do catch us." He looks around the cavern. "Better we do what we can to fortify ourselves here, finish our rest and be as prepared as we can be if they arrive."

Hearing Ront's description, Don adds, "Plus, it doesn't even sound like that was one of hers. Probably just some lone elf, scared of how of us there are. We can be the scarry thing in the dark too, you know."

Gadvelt nods along with Don That sounds wise - and rather than forage while we travel, and be slow and exposed at the same time, what if we based ourselves here, not only for defense but for gathering and resting - and travel maybe a half day worth in a few hours. If some of you more familiar could teach some of us foreigners, we can help with the gathering.

(ration math: I believe we started with 40 between us, plus the 6 we bought. 3 days*14 escapees = 42, so I think if all y'all have one and Gad has zero our inventories will balance)

Egret will start to nod as Don and Gadvelt talk, then shake his head at the end, “I agree that we should defend ourselves and finish our rest, but this place doesn’t look so fertile that it could support us for long. We’ll need to gather as we go and keep moving, just take precautions and defend our camps better at night.”

Sarith looks appraisingly at Don. The half breed speaks wisely. It will do us no good if we're miles ahead and exhausted and starving. Ilvara is powerful... but even she must tread the underdark carefully. 

Don sets up his piton/string/bell trip wire a little way down the hall where the elf was seen. "There, we'll know if someone tries to sneak up from this way." Then he lies back down and goes to sleep.

Seeing others going back to sleep Tempest will set up Striker to keep watch, then go to sleep herself.

Not to settle here Brother, just a couple hours for those who need more rest, and those of us who can do some gathering while they do so, so we can travel faster when we can travel Gadvelt counts on his knuckles to check that he got his grammar right. Manju and Gadvelt can cover for Tempest, and make up our rest needs in the extra hours we are staying

Ripplebark

Ripplebark is a shelf-like fungus that resembles a mass of rotting flesh. It is surprisingly edible. Though it can be eaten raw, it tastes better roasted. He finds 3 sheets equal to 28 pounds of food.

Barrelstalk

A barrelstalk is a large, cask-shaped fungus that can be tapped and drained of the fresh water stored within it. He finds 2 stalks with 8 gallons of water, and 14 pounds of food.

"Jackpot! I found some barrelstalk and three whole sheets of ripplebark. I hear surface folk hold their noses at at most fungus, but I bet you'll like this." Jimjar grins in the relative darkness, "Now, someone come give me a hand. This stuff weights almost as much as I do!"

Jimjar adds, almost as an afterthought, "Anyone else searching? I bet 10 gold you don't find a bigger haul than this!"

Fire Lichen

Pale orange-white in color, fire lichen thrives on warmth, so it grows in regions of geothermal heat. Fire lichen can be ground and fermented into a hot, spicy paste, which is spread on sporebread or added to soups or stews to flavor them. Duergar also ferment fire lichen into a fiercely hot liquor.
