"Evening Webber. I believe I have some information regarding our killer. First, I believe that our killer is targeting individuals that have committed some act that tarnishes how they're viewed by larger society. Our first victim lived with his parents, had no shortage of enemies, and one might suspect that he sold drugs. Our second victim was accused of being violent with his girlfriends. And our third victim was a drug addict whose family wanted nothing to do with her and was squatting in a tenement far from town. Second, I believe that the killer is a vampire. Our third victim was found killed in the same manner as the first two, but unlike the others, she wasn't drained, instead being found in a pool of her own blood. This leads me to believe that the killer was interrupted by something mid-kill and had to run off before they had the chance to feed."

SCENE TWO: SCAPEGOAT

Detective Webber nods as you explain. "Interesting. Good work. I'll relay this information to Sheriff Stokes. Until you find the actual killer, we have a situation on our hands. Since the third murder, the Denver community has sprung into action in a panic, and they're looking for someone to pin these murders on - and they've found a target: a man named Harry Lloyd. The community is scared, and they've found out where he lives, and this mob plans on exacting justice on this Lloyd character. If we can get the mob to actually carry out their own brand of justice, the community will settle down and will allow you all to continue searching without much heat and suspicion. I suggest you go to Lloyd's house right away and make sure the mob carries out their death wish. They're planning on going to his house tonight."

Alana interlaces her fingers and looks at Webber. "You're asking us... to help a mob of worried citizens murder an innocent man? What justice will that bring other than getting your boss off your ass and giving us more free range to explore our case? We'd be killing an innocent man for a crime he didnt commit all for this cases amusement?" She sips her wine calmly, as she maintains eye contact with Webber. 

"Oh, i'm not asking, Sherrif Stokes is telling you." Webber responds. "That's the day and age we live in now. Who cares about one innocent life when we might possible have a much bigger problem on our hands? Let the public freak out and point fingers. Once they've had their fill, the panic will calm down and you all can resume the investigation without all the heat. Isn't that worth one man's life?"

Victor shrugs. "Alana, we really don't have much of a choice but to help Webber with this. Reducing the public suspicion is vital for continuing this investigation while upholding the Masquerade. And I'd rather not defy Sheriff Stokes. As unpleasant as it might be to assist with this man's death, whatever punishment she has for disobedience would be far more unpleasant." 

Alana locks eyes with the detective for a moment, her lips formed in a thin line. After a moment she speaks calmly. "We need... No. WANT badges. We cannot do our investigation properly without some form of identification stating we are with the investigators team. Seeing as your department was UNFIT to solve the case on their own, surely it's the least you can do to provide us an easier method of identifying ourselves when the need arises. And Surely it can be done in the time that this little "distraction" will take us. Furthermore, due to the fact that this will be wasting precious Investigation time, I am asking for a push on our deadline by a few days to allow us compensation for the time and effort that this will take our team. Other than that, I believe we are all prepared to enact thus distraction. Unless anyone else has any issues that need to be addressed?" Alana's eyes scan over the other members of the Coterie, looking for anyone else who wants to say something. 

"Wait a minute." Webber says. 'You're telling me that you got all this information so far without badges, and now you want badges because you can't do your investigation properly? Am I understanding this correctly? And yes. Supernatural crimes take supernatural investigators. Sheriff Stokes was confident you all could handle this case, and to preserve the Masquerade. Was she mistaken?"

Alana narrows her eyes slightly at Webber and frowns. "We are fully capable of handling this. But putting us on petty little side missions that occupy our time distracts us from our investigation. We have gotten our information so far with manipulation and our own ways, but the fact that we do not have a badge has caught my attention and could have reduced the time it's taken to convince others to give us what we desired. We CAN handle this case. I'm simply requesting that there is a form of cooperation between us. We will do what you ask, but it is taking time away from our investigation, thus allowing the culprit more time to cover their tracks." 

"Not at all, Detective. We're perfectly capable of completing this investigation without badges, as we've been able to do this much for you. I apologize if you were left with that impression." Victor turns his head to Alana."This isn't a side mission, this is something that the Sheriff is ordering us to do so that we can investigate without risking the Masquerade. We aren't really in a position to make demands, so we might as well do it and be done with it."

Alana quietly leans back in her chair, taking a calming breath before speaking simply. "Fine. We'll do it your way Victor. Unless anyone else has anything to add about the case, I believe this meeting is complete? Thank you for your time Webber."

Detective Webber gives you a less than pleased glare at Alana, and nods to the rest of you. "My pleasure. Sheriff Stokes sends her regards. I'll tell you that you're willing to continue to cooperate. Go to Lloyd's house and see to it the job is done."

Sorrin motions from his spot before the detective moves to leave, "Detective, before you head out. While we are dealing with the mob of mortals, I am curious to if you or anyone else in your department came across some packages in any of the 3 crime scenes? If so, do you believe you could share that information with us, it might prove useful." Sorrin speaks with his usual demeanor, but seems to scan the detective, trying to get a read on the man, especially since this is the most he's expressed himself in their two meetings.

"Not that i'm aware, no." Webber admits.

"Hmmm. Very well then. Thank you any ways." Sorrin ponders over what the suspects are receiving/sending.

"Well, I believe that we don't have anything else to speak of, so I suppose that we should get on with this execution."

Alessandra has long since finished her wine and she is very much ready to join the mob. “Oh, I haven’t been in a mod in ages! This is going to be so exciting!” 

"Any tips for us mob newbies?' Victor jokes.

"Crush them under your boot heel. Make them know who ees een command, make them submeet and suffer. Conquer them and dominate their weels." Misha says, proudly.

“Misha, we’re joining in on a mob, not a continent conquering. Good to see you still remember your roots though.” Alessandra snorts with a smirk. “Anyways, just get angry for no reason, join in on their chanting, whatever it may be, and bring pitch forks! Though... Do you all still do pitchforks? And torches?”

"Torches yes, but pitchforks have fallen by the wayside in favor of things like posters. Although there's a fair chance that there will be clubs there, and perhaps guns, although you aren't a fan of those. If we're quick, we could probably stop somewhere and grab a few torches."  Victor adds helpfully.
