Tahia says a quiet prayer to herself in the semi-darkness before she falls asleep, hoping that it makes its way to its intended recipient.
In the morning, she's cheerful enough despite the occasional interruptions in the night. "Sure, seems like a good way to go about it," she says agreeably to Korvek. "Plus, didn't they say we needed to register? Not sure if I know what that's about, but we should at least find out. Do both at once, so they register us as useful, yeah?"She shoves the remainder of a hunk of cheese into her mouth.
Tvon'ii had taken his rest in the dining room of the house. It had started when he pulled out a piece of chalk to draw runes on the floors for summoning his servant and ended in a very conspicuous looking chart apparently depicting the where and why the Green had come into being. Sketches, short hand notes, and lines connecting one idea to another cover most of one wall of the dining area. Barely a nub of chalk seems discarded near the corner of the room. Late into the evening the elf had settled in to do his meditative trance. He roused himself about four hours later as the trio of elves had also come down. The rest of the house was still mostly asleep it seemed so Tvon'ii decided to take an early morning stroll and attempt to catch the tavern for breakfast and coffee.
"Themis, I think this unlikely band might actually be worth sticking with." The elf said over a hearty plate to his familiar. "Artemis have you finished my letter? Give it here."
To Penelope Tarrondale, Third of her Name:
Dearest Penne,
I have arrived to Prospain before you and fear I will have moved inland before your ship arrives. I am traveling with odd arrangement of folks from our homeland but I think they will be valuable in the road ahead. The Loxodon I am traveling with speaks of an artifact that may be able to stop the Green. He has said it was revealed to him by the Gods...I know. But even if it is just a very powerful entity, maybe this attack has spurred them into action. Contacting a zealot may be the first step for some of them. Regardless, I hope this letter finds you and know that I am looking for you...
-Vonie
"Yes this is excellent. Thank you Artemis."he says to the unseen servant. The elf folds and seals the letter. He leaves it with the barkeep, hoping he manages to deliver it to Penelope in the near future. On his way back he runs into a guard captain leaving their assigned housing.
"You there, you know how to use that sword? Look a bit...Well never mind, if you think yourself capable meet at the town hall in the next half hour. There's a lot of new faces and a lot of new mouths. We're going to need everyone to pitch in the best they can." The captain nods and continues to the next residence.
Tvon'ii returns the nod and walks back into the house. After a short time the assorted crew begin to descend onto the main floor. Tvon'ii was caught up in his theorizing but noticed when the trio acknowledge the first down. "Yes, I planned to leave when we were more gathered. Didn't want to lose you all in the shuffle if the meeting turned into some sort of travel inland." He says turning to Mord, Tahia, and Trumann.
Tvon'ii goes on his early morning stroll. Unfortunately for him he finds that the tavern they visited last night is currently shut, the door seemingly locked and no one around. Disappointed, he ends up back at the house he is staying at, finding that he will have to do with a substitute morning breakfast provided by Alana.
With breakfast finished, the group knows they have to be registered this morning, and also speak to one of the captains at the town hall. The trio the group are staying with mention they will be down once they have cleaned up, letting the party go on ahead.
The town hall is situated further back in the town, towards the most inland part. It is no taller than the other buildings in the area, but spans across the space of around five. Stairs lead up into the wooden building where they find another two dozen people from the ship have already congregated. Four members of the watch, wearing their golden phoenix emblems, are apparently questioning people about their names, age, and skill sets.
Upon coming to the group, they find that they are met by the grumpy looking gnome from last night. "Ah, you lot." He says, his tone no better than it was last night. "Well, get on with this. We have some jobs for you lot, and some others. Should get you into the working spirit."
“How does this work?” Gnoll asks the Gnome, “ Do we chose the Jobs or do you chose them for us? Is the work voluntearly or is it a work or sleep under a bridge choice? Sorry for all the questions, i am Gnoll by the way, i know a bit of manipulating Nature itself...” He grows a small thorny blackberry branch in his hand to show what he is talking about.
"You tell us what you can do. We tell you how you can help." The gnome speaks back. "You have your home, and you have food. Now you have a chance to earn your keep and have a place in our town."
The gnome guardsman has a particular way around words, that doesn't mean its positive...
(It's basically up to the party how truthful they are in their capabilities. They could be plain with their answer, over-exaggerate, or underplay their prowess.)
"Well, I have extremely good vision -- better than most, even in the dark," Tahia offers. "I know plenty of folk can do that, but I've yet to see any who can see as far as me. I also have a little skill with healing, and a small amount of magic. Not as much as some of the other folks I've been traveling with, though."
Trumann looks down towards Mord and whispers frantically, "I don't want to work for them here, I must find mother, I must, I can;t I, I,..." He begins to look around nervously.

"I can do hunting and heavy lifting. I can probably use this axe for some woodwork as well, but I mostly use it for fights." Korvek answers truthfully.
Hearing Trumann, Tahia adds, "I can also write well enough, if you want help taking down the names of us coming in by ship. Is the list to be kept somewhere when it's done, if we're looking for people that should be on it? I've got a couple siblings I'd like to know if they end up here. Other folks got kin as well."
The elf almost scoffs, "It would be simpler to name things I'm not capable..." he pauses to think for a moment, "I don't think there is a thing I couldn't at least attempt. So it is a better use of our time to state what you would like done." Krast, traditionally quick with his tongue rather than thoughtful takes another pausing breath.
"We are unfamiliar with your land and your customs but many are capable and willing. We are certainly grateful for your generosity. So please, how may we serve?" A half decade running around the countryside with paladin's had to teach him some level of valor and duty.
Trumann looks down towards Mord and whispers frantically, "I don't want to work for them here, I must find mother, I must, I can;t I, I,..." He begins to look around nervously.
"There are still ships inbound, they are probably on there." The gnome tells Trumann. "Once we have a register of all coming here we can sort out family reunions and relocations." After getting the information from the group, the gnome says. "Well you all seem capable enough, if you want to get some matters tended to, we might have some work for you this afternoon. We're sending a couple of groups to help clear some paths after the storm a couple of days ago, and you might be able to help. You'll be paid and all that, so don't worry about that. Just be back for noon."
Trumann looks down at Mord with gratitude in his eyes. "Fine, fine, we will be back this afternoon, and I will help wherever I can." Trumann feeling dismissed turns and looks to Mord as he starts heading towards the shrines.

Following the path along the shallows of the mountain are much easier in the light, the green overgrowing certain parts. Ancient stone lanterns line the path, disused, as some folk wander to and from this path to give their prayers. Heading onto the path it appears that periodically along these paths are statues that vaguely resemble deities and their portfolios, the first being a humanoid figure with a tidal wave behind them, depicting a storm goddess.
(If they want to make an Intelligence (Religion) check, they can try and word their prayers well at an appropriate shrine)
As the group is spending time around the shrines, they find that every ten or so minutes a pair of guards wander past, seemingly on a patrol in the area. Townsfolk are quite jovial this morning, saying "good morning" to their neighbours and the party when they approach.
(If there's anything you want to discuss with any of the folk in their morning prayers, feel free to.)
