Pizazz's Ravenloft and Beyond

"This is true," Lionel stopped contemplating "sir dwarf" (truly, it was time to make peace with reality) and joined the conversation again, "we were asked out by the Abbot. Also, we have to visit the burgomaster and finish our business with him. Hope the Abbot is truly capable to restore life and we are not the messengers of a false hope."

((We were talking about stoking on stakes and holy water every ten posts - did we get it already?))

Once they have reached where they plan on staying the night, Meepo just following the Bigs to wherever they picked, He looks over his findings.

"Meepo found lost silver arrow here..." He says, holding it up. "We need, right... Who want use?" He glares over at the giant-kin. "Giant-kin there lost arrow, no think give back him."

Ulthan seems to ignore the whole arrow thing and says nothing about it. "hrmpfh camp here there or go hrmpfh" he says while pointing at a nearby camping spot then at back at the abbot place then down the road.

Ezz glances around at the group, "Well, the Abbott may be nuts, but he's the real deal. If he says he can raise the dead, then he can raise the dead. Anyhow, I'd prefer not to have him as an enemy, so if he kicked you all out, then let's go camp down in the village. There's six of us and we are mean as spit, what are they going to do?  Besides, it sounds like you have good news for them, they'll get over it."  

The decision apparently made....by her...she walks over, hopping smoothly over the iron fence, and starts walking down the path to town.  She glances back at Ulthan, "Come on big guy, we'll camp down there in the trees. Safer than at the top of the mountain where someone could push us off a cliff."  She winks.  He seems to think this makes sense, because he immediately makes to follow her.

Lionel looked at the giant ranger obediently following the girl. "We have to ask her how she does it." He thought about it for a moment, checked up girl's forms again and shook his head. "May be there is nothing to ask, of course." "Well, let's go see the burgomaster." Whether it was the first stop for the girl or not, but he had a promise to fulfill.

Meepo shrugs and follows after. His disk floating behind him. He needs to find a store in town, he thinks, so he can put the majority of this stuff there for them to sell, so it won't be lost any longer.

The group treks down the mountainside and into the wooded town of Krezk. A short while later you've found yourself outside the Burgomasters house. A lantern shines within.  A quick knock and the worried looking Burgomaster is at the door.  He glances around, his eyes lingering on Ezz...and then looks to Mordekai, "Well...did it work?  What did he say?" 

"It worked.  He said he'd pay you a visit in the morning to return your son to you.  So provided you trust the Abbott to keep his word, I wish you and your family good health and fortune."

Mordekai refrains from telling the Burgomaster he thinks the Abbott is very odd.

"We truly do," Lionel also did not mention abbot's conditions, doubting it would matter to the burgomaster. Instead he asked: "Would you be so kind to point out a house were we all can stay for a night? We shall leave at the morning."

     "A house well away from this one?  We should probably avoid bumping into your guest..." Ketch points out quickly and quietly.

"And where store?" Meepo pipes in, as the Bigs always forget the important things, like finding homes for lost things.

The look of relief that runs across the Burgomasters face makes emotions flood into you.....despite everything...you've done something good here. He smiles, stepping forward to clutch Mordekai's hand and shake it vigorously...and then it just turns into a big hug.  With tears in his eyes, he nods, "Lemme put my jacket on, we'll find you someplace warm to sleep...." 

He's out a moment later and brings the group to a large house. The entire way he's muttering his thanks, and thanks to the heavens, and so on. He is also apologizing for nothing more than a hard stone floor as an offer for sleeping arrangements.  To Meepo he turns, "Oh...sorry, there's no store here, we barter everything....in the morning if you've goods to barter I will be happy to find someone to help you..." 

With that he drops you off at a house with a stone floor and a resident who seems at first displeased to host guests, but then suddenly pleased after the Burgomaster has a short chat.  You're welcomed in and find a warm room with a large floor for you all to lay your sleeping mats out upon. 

The next morning comes quickly, the light of day forcing you to blink the blur and sand from your eyes.  Ezz is sitting up pulling her boot on.  She pats Ulthan on the knee and he silently takes it with a word, which....isn't abnormal. 

Outside you hear the sound of laughter. After getting ready you go outside and find a teenage boy walking with the Burgomaster and his wife. The wife and Burgomaster seem overjoyed and are laughing as they walk with their son. The boy seems more somber, though smiles occasionally as he looks around the world with troubled eyes. It's a day of fog, and no rain, at least so far. 

The thick mists cling to the trees inside the village and obscure any view of the mountain above. 

"No shops?" Meepo grumples the next morning as he tows his disk along with him. "Meepo take to bigger town, find store there..."

     Before they get too far away, Ketch casts Detect Magic and if not already within 30 feet of the Burgomeister’s son he will dash up to be, saying hello and hope all is well if a reason is needed.

     While the spell is active, Ketch will also take a look at Ezz and his companions... just out of curiosity.

There is no magic on the child, but as Ketch runs over, his eyes bulge out and he hides behind is father in fear.  His father tries to calm him through the welcome, but the kid looks at Ketch like he's there to kill him....and doesn't relax until Ketch is moving away. 

Ketch looks at his companions. There is an aura of 'enchantment' over Ulthan that is not usually there. Ezz's studded leather armor is magical, as is her rapier and her handaxe. There is also some sort of evocation magic within her backpack.

     Ketch narrows his eyes and casts Dispel Magic at the enchantment upon Ulthan as subtly as he can and then goes to stand behind Ezz...

Ulthan, magic washes across you and you realize that Ezz used magic to charm you. The charm spell has been ended though.  Ezz glances Ketch's way as this happens though and shifts her position, not letting him get close.  Unless he wishes to chase after her, this could get weird. :-) 

Ulthan scratches his head, shrugs once, then continues walking in same direction unless we've stopped and were waiting. That said it's not like he didn't notice the movement of people behind his friend so he pays attention to that but doesn't do anything yet.

((I didn't mean behind as in threateningly so...  Just past her so as not to be between her and Ulthan.  Ketch played a hunch and didn't want to be caught in the middle if right.))

Everyone stands around for a moment, and then Ulthan turns and continues stalking away.  Ezz glances at Ulthan's back, then over at Ketch, then shrugs and continues walking after Ulthan.
