Ketch rushes out of the sphere. The man was ready though...and seemed to be waiting for something to charge out at him. He turns and rushes away with Ketch in pursuit....running through the rubble and out into the wide stairway beyond.
Ulthan, do you leave the dome and run after him? You probably can't get a shot at him this round, but next round you'll be able to shoot at him, assuming he's running up the stairs.
Ketch, the guy has a ten foot lead on you, are you chasing him?

Before the elf can reach the exit, Ketch begins swearing loudly in orcish, which the rest of you can only presume must be related to his casting of some spell. His words seem to echo loudly in the place, amplified briefly by the holy magic he summons. And then the pursued enemy vanishes.
Ok, you've got a minute. He was in that front entrance room, just inside from the shaft, so you don't have to go into the shaft to surround him or whatever it is you plan to do next.
"What are we hunting? Or what is hunting us?" Lionel did not leave the dome yet but was ready to strike whatever interfered with the group's beauty sleep.
"hrmpfh elf ambush portal elf here hrmpfh" nods Ulthan as if everyone would easily understand, Ulthan will head up sneakily trying to see how many dozen elves and undead creatures are at top.
The place is quiet as the group, aside from Laffa and Meepo, emerge from their resting spot. The stand about in the place waiting for Ketch to do a count down. 3...2...1....
The elf appears. Apparently his home plane. Lionel grabs him....he struggles for a moment, but then is caught firm my Lionel is a vice like grip. Surrounded, and held....but not being killed immediately, he stops fussing and looks around at the group with an unpleasant stare.

Lionel grimaced. He really hoped the elf will be gone and everyone could get back to sleep. Alas, the puny enemy was persistent. "Anyone got a rope? Would feel more comfortable if our guest will be restrained for better communication."
Ketch swing his Giant Slayer's Axe at Elf-Head level but is able to shift his swing just enough to whiff the axe over the suddenly grappled elf's head. Ketch screams in frustration as the momentum carries him around in a twirl that ends with him once more face to face with the and the axe slammed down at the ground right in front of their feet.
Ketch grunts and starts roughly running his hands over the elf, pulling out and tossing aside weapons, coins, and everything else that is not an actual piece of clothing or elf. Ketch intends to leave him not a toothpick, scrap of tobacco or anything else that could be anything... Ketch then shrugs out of his backpack and grabs the coil of rope off of it and cuts several long lengths of it off in appropriate tie up the prisoner lengths. "We plan on believing anything this piece of crap has to say?" Ketch asks as he starts tying up their prisoner, doing his best to be sure to cut off the circulation...
Ketch's near miss leaves the elf with a blanched, grim expression. He's clearly decided not to struggle and watches Ketch with trepidation as he begins relieving him of all of his gear. Ketch tosses a fine elven dagger in a sheath away, a short sword, a small backpack with limited supplies and food. A rolled up hammock and thin silk rope seems all he has for sleeping and shelter. A set of lock picks, some blank scrolls, a quill...are all that rounds out his kit. The elf is silent as he's tied up. The elf grimaces at the tightness of the rope as he's eventually dropped to the ground in a tied up heap. He squirms, clearly trying to relieve himself from the discomfort of the bindings.
Laffa strolls out of the tiny hut once it's clear it is safe. "So....we gunna interrogate this guy, or just go back to resting and watch him from inside the magic hut thing?"
“Who do you work for? Why are you after us? Blah blah blah… you know what we want to know, you know the consequences. Let’s not play the charade out. Answers or die. No promise of life but hella likelier with answers,” Ketch says in his blandest possible manner as he piles up the elf’s stuff and starts going through it more slowly. He doesn’t bother looking at the captive, there’s no point. He’ll talk or not… in the meantime, there’s things to do.
”pay attention to what he says and stand guard,” ketch tells Lionel and then starts ritually casting Detect Magic so he can look over the gear and the elf with different eyes… though throughout the ritual his axe is always at hand.

For numerous reasons, Lionel played "the good guardsman" here. First, he loosened the ropes enough for the elf to not suffer from pain and fast-developed anemia. "Look, your kind was trying to kill us just a few hours ago. There is no reason for us to keep you alive. But we don't have to kill you either. We came to free our friend from the curse. We learned that the only way to do so is to kill that Princess that is imprisoned here. And we intend to do it. Your queen might not believe it's possible, but look - we already survived the guardians of this place. So, why don't you answer my friend's questions, tell us how far the army is, all you know about the Princess that can help us, and then wait quietly until we dispatch of her? You are no friend of that monster, so, why not let us try?"
The guard lays on the back, and looks around at the group. The elf seems to be considering, and then something convinces him to speak. "You are in a dangerous place. You have defeated the guardians, but the door remains closed. Do not release the cursed one. The queen comes, I am merely a scout. Soon the army will arrive. Leave now while you can. I don't know if the book has started leaching the spirit from one among you, or if they've succumbed to the curse, but if you leave the book behind, I guarantee no one will pursue you. The book, and keeping the cursed one locked behind that door is all that matters."

Ketch will call out that we’ve less than a minute! For his part he maintains concentration and readies his axe…
”Of course if he’s from a different plane of existence, he won’t be back at all,” ketch muses with a small chuckle.
"Meepo must stay in hut." Meepo says, taking a seat. He yawns. "Meepo also need sleep lot longer if Meepo any good in big fight..."
"So we all get ready to hack them to pieces, and go back to sleep? I could charm them and find out what they're doing here first?"
