Kai pulls the sword from the ground and gives it a heft. His hazy journey to the blade clears as he realizes others might be on him shortly. With a billow of his cloak he stows the weapon at the small of his back, hidden from view. He takes a moment to look over the area again for other signs of activity before returning to the group. ((Investigation: 14))
"Nothing. Just the indent the boulder had sat in." He shrugs and continues on their path.
"If there is nothing of interest with this boulder then let us move forward. If there is then perhaps we could find where its place of origin is and find how it was able to send those animals into a charge." Palisade says as he makes way to the rest of the group to catch up with his familiar.

Kravek will look around and try to trace the path of the boulder. Trying to determine if this was a rockslide or if it looks like an unnatural reason for fall down the mountain.
Rixton idly plays with a copper coin as he waits for the others to gather. He seems lost in thought, staring at a mossy log. It is difficult to say whether it is the moss, the log, or something else entirely that has his interest. Eventually, he stands and walks a little way down the road, not quite getting out of sight, but clearly eager to move on.
Kallak walks up to Rixton, leaning against a tree a bit further down the path, and stares at the log for a while. She pulls out the rhino horn and cleans it up a bit, and then analyzes its shape and hardness, trying to see what kind of sculpture might be created from it.
When Rixton stands up and walks down the road, she ranges a bit in the undergrowth in a similar path. "Moss is nice,"she says, looking to the sky. "What are we doing, Rixton? Not a very long road, but this mage king didn't give us much to work with. Bring a powerful book back to him, away from some powerful dragons, from an island full of lizardfolk and Yuan-Ti."
Looking back at the rest of the party, still assembling after the rhino attack and the boulder on a hill, she sighs. "Think we'll survive this?"
Rixtondoesn't even look up from examining the bottom of his shoe. "None of us would be here if we didn't believe we could do it," he says. "That said, they are clearly inexperienced, too independent-minded, and easily distracted. Don't get me wrong, I have the attention span of a gnat, but the case...er the job...always comes first. In short, I, at least, intend to survive this."
You all continue on for the rest of the day with no events to speak of. Fine scenery but nothing truly exciting. The night comes without issue as does the following day, however, when you awake Song is missing from your group. You finally make it to your destination at a make-shift dock. You see a ferry with a single crewman and standing at shore is none other than, Dehkar, the golden guard.
"Greetings everyone, greetings. This man is under my employ and will not speak of this day ever again. You will use this..." he pulls out a sending stone "To alert me when you've completed the task and are ready to leave this island... wasn't there..." Dehkar starts counting your group "Where is that half-orc you kept with you? Did they chicken out?" he chuckles to himself, "None the matter, you lot should be find without them. All aboard." he holds out the sending stone for someone to take.

Kravek will respond to Kallak and Rixtons conversation earlier or along the way. Noticing their talk and seeming surprised Kallak is speaking full sentences. Perhaps she is settling into the group.
If you lot are to survive this we will need some unity in the group. We need to be able to depend on eachother in the future and i for one like to know who im shielding.
A heavy sigh interupts his talk for a moment. We will need a leader... And with that he ends his talk.
At the arrival Kravek will nod as a greeting to Dehkar and wait for him to speak.
He looks around eying the members of this ragged band as he mentions we are missing someone. He says to himself Perhaps she fled in the rhino attack like the others but did not come back?
He shrugs and with the invite Kravek will board the ferry walking past Dehkar holding the stone and not even questioning himself if he should take it and walk past assuming someone else will. After all he has his own way to communicate to Dehkar if needed.
Palisade will take the stone if no one else does since he can easily store it in his bag of holding, motioning for Malizath to sit on his shoulder. As the imp take a seat, he uses a small twig to pick at his teeth.
"I vote fo myself to be the leader of you sorry lot. I have seen a thousands mortals just like you did on such foolhardy quests so if anything goes wrong I will at least be alive to tell the king you did your best."
Rixtonlooks squarely at the imp. "It is my understanding that Palisade here can...request...a new form for you," he says to the familiar. "I think you would make a cute bunny rabbit."
He looks back to Kravekas Palisade takes the stone. "I don't like the term leader. It raises one above the others. We just need coordination. Communication."
Kai leans easily on a post near the ferry. "I'm no leader, but I'm a fine assistant to the leader. You know, good at diplomacy and smoothing over those awkward social situations." He gives a bit of look over each of the group gathered at the dock, "And I guess I'm the bulk of the enthusiasm in this lot."
The human pushes off the post and walks near Kallak. "If we are putting it to a vote though, I vote for her. Healers tend to look out for others and that seems a good enough reason to be calling some shots in my book."
Kallak says to Dehkar, "You're fast."She's amazed he beat them to the ferry.
She looks at Rixton and Kravek as she boards the ferry. "I vote for the two of you."She moves to the bow and looks at what weather they're likely to see on the trip.
Rixtonstands on the ferry, hands behind his back. He snorts a laugh at Kallak'ssuggestion. "I will happily tell people what is best for them to do. In my experience, they tend not to listen, much to their own dismay."
"Alright, alright. Just get on the boat. See you all when its done." Dehkar says.
As you all board the ferry, you can look into the distance and see your destination. The ferry ride is pretty short. About 30-40 minutes. When you reach land. The Ferryman who hadn't said a word suddenly speaks, "Hurry on. Go, go go. Get off my boat so I can get out of here."
As you all disembark, you take a look around. You stand on about the only patch of dry land you can see.

(Have we completed a short rest since the rhino battle? Seems not, but if so, Kallak would be in favor after having been gored.)
While sitting in the ferry boat, Kallak ritually casts detect magic and looks around at her companions and the boat, and aims to still have it up for a few minutes as they disembark.
What do we see? Kallak perception: 5
Due to her wanderer feature, she should have a good sense of what this island should look like (You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.)
You all continue on for the rest of the day with no events to speak of. Fine scenery but nothing truly exciting. The night comes without issue as does the following day, however, when you awake Song is missing from your group.
You guys got a long rest and make sure to apply your 4th level. i had to scroll back to make sure i gave you a break, easily miss-able.
Due to your background you can go ahead and roll survival/nature with advantage to try and understand the lay of the land.
Kallak
Nothing magical within range that isn't your party. If you cast it before around your party (that part will be up to you) you will notice that Kai has a new magic aura on his person in the shape of a shortsword.
You see before you a marshy jungle. The ground is damp. There are lots of trees with vines hanging. Lots of greens and browns. There is one trail into the jungle that looks sort of well worn. No discernible footprints. If there are any other trails they are well covered.

"More fun than not surviving," Kallak says, rubbing at the wound where the rhino gored her. She casts healing word on herself for 8 hp.
