Exelda's eyes would narrow along with the room. She'll sigh at her own curiosity before shrugging to herself. LeBlanc will start to dash, attempting to scoop up the chest on her way out, bracing herself for a trick of the shadows.
The chest in the center is immobile. It is, however, not locked - at least, as far as you can tell. It's made of solid black stone and has a lid, like a small tomb can, you believe, can be opened. Go on. Nothing bad will happen.
As you both open the stone chest, you find nothing inside but the spiral of infinity. Your souls separates from your body in the most painful manner your nerve endings can register and whatever physical form that contained your mind is vaporized. You both spend an undetermined amount of time floating in the fractal of infinity until your spirits take a new form in a body you can neither understand nor comprehend in a place you do not recognize. You both spend the rest of this eternity and the next becoming an unwilling, or willing, pawn of something greater than the cosmos, guarding a black stone chest in a powerful shadowy forms with others you do not recognize, or understand.
But one day, you will.
Everyone else gains a level. You see Exelda and Freya explode in the worst possible way a body could be blown apart. There is nothing left of them. The walls in this room close upon each other and you're no longer able to enter the room, only to move on to the next horrible room in whatever this place is.
"They were good in a fight and we'll miss their healing," Dia says with a slight roll of her eyes. "Shall we? Don't want to end up like them too soon."
UMBRAL PITS LEVEL TWO ROOM FOUR - SECOND PORTAL ROOM
This room is 90' square and appears to be lit from the ceiling by a pale purple radiance. The walls of this room are polished black stone and have no ledges, handholds, niches or cracks that you can see. From the door, which is in the center of the wall and 20' from the floor, a 10' wide stone ramp extends to the center of the room to a 30' diameter island. Surrounding the island and covering the floor is the rest of the room is a bottomless expanse of the cosmos that you don't recognize. You realize that if you fall, there's no recovering from a misstep. On the island is a portal guarded by two large eldritch creatures - statues. They look at you menacingly but do not move.
Madison turns to Villanelle. "How about you go first."she asks, deadpan.
As you shove Madison towards the portal and the statues, she takes a few steps forward debating whether or not to blow your ******* head off, but decides not to. Soon. Patience. She takes a few more feet towards the portal.
Father whispers a silent prayer to their new fallen compatriots before following beside the others, the group now smaller than it was originally. His expression was as stoic as ever, knowing full well that his time would come soon enough.
He raises a brow at Madison and Villanelle’s small spat, smirking ever so slightly at the shove, but is saddened to see that her presence did nothing to rouse the portal. “I suppose it’s safe,” He gestures forward to the remaining of the group. “Ladies first~”

The 4 bats give you a nasty look and head towards the portal, wondering why they would do anything for someone with such a pleasant demeanor. They flitter into the portal and the black inky barrier wavers like a pebble was dropped into it like water. But, nothing else happens.
When the ladies are done going back and forth, Father enters through the portal behind them all like a true gentleman would.

Villanelle follows with the rest as the walls close. "Astute observation there." She says sarcastically.

Getting stopped dead by the immobile chest, Leblanc groans as she 'elastics' back to it. She'll open it.

Freya notices Leblanc struggling with the chest, so she'll assist her in any way she can.
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

"I'm not going in first." Madison says, and holds her ground. "I don't know WHAT to expect around here. One of you idiots go first."
Villanelle takes a page out of Freya's playbook and summons 4 expendable bats to go advance towards the portal.
