Jax would pause a moment from his work and turn his head towards Lucky and Squall. "short temper noted.." He would say aloud as the yellow light flickers on his face. When Tara mentions going off alone after her loud announcement. The warforged would hold up his hand. "Wait one moment please. Perhaps it would be wise to create a passphrase that only the five of us know." The warforged would say. "Perhaps the word "Ourelonastrix"". Jax would suggest. As Tara turns to leave, he would add. "A wise plan to use yourself as bait to lure out the murderer. I will keep an eye on your location while I continue to work. I will ensure that I stay within the effective range of my revolver." He would then nod with what you would assume is approval.
Tara nods thoughtfully at Jax's suggestion of the code word. "A code word is a good idea. That one is also a good choice, as it is rare in Khorvaire for those to even know of it." She bites her lip and lowers her voice so only Jax can hear. "And while bait is a happy coincidence, I do need to transfer and burn my notes...and I am not good with conflict. I have no experience with handling it personally, nor have I seen it handled in...what would here be considered an appropriate manner, at least not from me. So I am removing myself from the situation. Thank you for...keeping an eye on me." She ducks her head and continues moving towards an empty spot.
"Acknowledged Tara" Jax would say with a nod, keeping his voice low as well. "I am better equipped to deal with warfare than this type of conflict as well." he would add with a wink
The group spreads out and begins to make your own preparations for whatever comes next. A few hours pass and as the crewmen come back, they report that Lespin is no where to be found.
The other crew members and the civilians have begun setting up tents and beds both inside and underneath the ship. The sun is beginning to get lower in the sky before. The bright yellows turning to oranges and reds. William comes to you, “My men haven’t found Lespin. Either he’s the next victim or the perpetrator. What’s the next step?”
Tara has spent the last few hours transferring her notes to the spellshard, burning the paper versions steadily in the process with a serious expression. When William asks his question, she opens her eyes from where she's had them closed while updating the shard. "I believe it is to check the chest."
Lucky spends some time talking to the passengers and getting their stories. He introduces himself and is honest that he works for a newspaper and is writing this as a story. He asks who they are and why they're travelling, he asks about what they saw and experienced before and during the crash, he asks about how they are feeling now and what they think will happen. He takes detailed notes in his notebook, and makes an audio recording of any particularly good interviewees. As he listens to the answers, he's also paying attention for anything odd, or any contradictions between people's stories, that might be a clue for their investigation. Investigation8

Jax would keep an eye out for anyone looking suspicious or any sign of anyone wearing the enchanted cloth as he continued to work on his arcane items. Perception! 23 plus guidance if given.. 1
The warforged would move very mechanically and with purpose. Never moving more than needed to perform his tasks. All the while however, the large glowing yellow lens on his face would be constantly flickering and focusing on anything that seemed out of place. His heavy black leather jacket blowing in the breeze, and occasionally clanking as the objects lining the interior of the clothing were blown against his metal frame.
(Point of clarification: does Tara investigate the chest? Did she say that to herself or someone else. Does she open it alone?)
Lucky doesn’t find any clues to help the investigation(can elaborate on stories of passengers later)
No one seems particularly suspicious to Lucky or Jax. Jax finds almost windswept and erased set of footprints heading away from the crash and head towards the large flat rock in the trail of the ships crash
Salqwyn "Squall" d'Lyrandar / Half-elf Sorcerer - (Squall had shown interest in the chest as well, and will stay with Tara as she opens it. If it's is locked she will ask some of the others to help open it.)
As she looks at the chest with Tara Salqwyn tries to strike up a little conversation. "Was I to harsh with Lucky? I have a hard time controlling my emotions. It's one of the things that earned me the nickname Squall. Do you think I should apologize?"
(OOC: Tara said that in response to William. I don't know who is joining her, but presumably Squall at least lol.)
Tara blinks at Salqwyn as she asks her question. "Um...I do not know," she admits hesitantly, as if not knowing is the worst thing in the world. "I have seen disagreements handled far more harshly...but the more time I spend among Khorvairans, the more I realize that...fashion of reacting to conflict is not acceptable here. However, in my studies, I have found that apologies often go some way towards mending disagreements. Formal apologies have stopped many a conflict before they began, especially in the face of a common enemy such as the doppelganger we face now."
Noticing the tracks, Jax would move towards Squall and Tara. "I detect footprints leading towards the flat rock away from the crash site" He would say right as Tara was finishing her response. "Perhaps we should investigate them, I will go retrieve Lucky and see if he would like to investigate as well." He would add before leaving to find the shifter.

Drax makes his announcement breaking the semi awkward conversation of Squall and Tara. As he sets off to go find Lucky; Squall, Tara, and William huddle around the chest to search the blue chest. They find it, not to be locked. As the begin to open it, an orange glow radiates from inside of it. Leaving a fraction of a second of pondering, questioning, or perhaps a moment of dread as the orange glow turns into a small floating note of white hot energy and explodes in from the trapped chest. A fireball consumes the area.
Tara and Squall dex save 13: on a fail you take 18 fire damage and are sent back 10 feet. In a success you take half damage and do no get pushed back.
Tara: 20
Squall: 11
William: 5
As the chest’s eruption does down, Jax turns back around to see Tara and William patting their own clothing of smoke and flames, while Squall has been tossed backwards into the sands. Lying on the ground unconscious.
The once blue chest has been scorched black as smoke wafts up from what remains.
Lucky is speaking with a member of the crew, getting their account of what happened, when he hears the explosion. He swears, gives the briefest of apologetic nods to the fellow, and then races towards the source of the sound.

Jax would quickly turn and race towards the explosion. Seeing squall smoldering and unmoving, The warforged's eye would shine red and quickly focus on the wounded companion. Moving towards her with surprising speed, Jax would drop to a knee and and remove a small black iron box from inside his jacket. After pressing a small ed button shaped like a +, small legs would sprout from the sides and a head would flip out from the bottom with a small set of fangs. In an instant, the small black robotic spider would quickly move across Squalls body, squeezeing tight her wounds with its metallic legs before stapling them shut with its tiny needle like fangs. As the mechanical creature moved over the wounds, a set of tiny spinners would apply a clear paste that I instantly begins dissolving the staples as it fuses the flesh together. The spider would cure wounds at a surprisingly fast rate before folding back up into its tiny metal box. Jax would then slide it inside his jacket once more.
cure wounds healing! 8
"She will live" He would comment once the tiny machine was returned to his jacket. The lens would remain red however. "I think we need to depart now." He would say before turning and heading off towards the flat rock.
Her eyes fluttering open afternoon Jax’s healing arachnid finished up, Squall let’s out a groan and sits up slowly. “What in the Sovereign’s name happened?”
Tara somehow manages to dodge a great deal of the smoke and fire, and she nods at Squall. "Indeed, I would welcome Ourelonastrix's wisdom on the matter." Her eyes flare a gentle blue as she turns to Jax. "Why? What is at the rock? I assume you found something there?" She runs a brief finger along the silver scales embedded in her dress as if in reassurance as she sets off after the warforged, the blue glow in her eyes remaining.
