Jax would move towards Tara and nod. "I have no negative feelings towards dragons. From what I understand, they each have their own personalities and characteristics. It is not wise to treat them all the same way. I witnessed a dragon incinerate a group of enemy soldiers while on a scouting mission. They are very powerful creatures and must be treated with respect.. much like the ocean or a powerful storm." The warforged would add as he glances towards the minotaur.
The gang settles in its semi awkward debate and all eventually go inside and sleep for the night. Knowing they are nearing their target destination in the next day. Bunkering down you fall asleep for the night in your respective rooms. Some sleeping in the same rooms now that several rooms are no longer available.
In early morning hours as you begin to shift in your sleep, rolling over expecting one more hour of rest before taking off again.(except Jax). You begin to hear a low bell ringing. Quickly and rhythmically like a warning from the top deck. For those of you that rush up to the deck and see surrounding the parked airship, torches light up one by one. A roaming group of orcish and half giant bandits have surrounded the Airship. Small groups circle the airship on their horses and worgs. But the main attention is brought to a towering half Orc..... being dwarfed by two Orogs on either side. The red leather strap across his chest almost burns in the peaking rays of sunshine over the horizon. A necklace of bone and teeth adorn both Orogs. A few smaller orcs jump around behind them as they rally and agitate the others.
Buddy is the one ringing the bell, although clanging it fiercely you can tell he looks tired, must’ve stayed up all night. William is giving orders to his men, as the awake and arm themselves and begin to line the airship banister and railings..... securing the high ground.
Tara makes her way up on deck with a slight frown, the expression not departing her face as she looks around. "Hmmm...would this be an ambush?" she asks curiously.
Is the apparent leader, the half-orc with the red leather strap, within 120 feet of Lucky?
I reckon we try to talk. We got nothing to lose. He heads up to Captain William. So, this is your call. We talk right? Polite and respectful? Aggressive and intimidating?
William is underway working on the sigils on the floor to get the ship moving again. “Yeah, figure out what they want. If it’s something we can make do without for a day give it to them. Try to avoid some bloodshed , these passengers been through enough. Be polite but don’t show weakness. Try to stall a bit. Normal code word is Feather to run, use Stone and we stay to fight.” And he continues marking the glyphs around the captains wheel.
(He’s allowing Lucky to negotiate with them. If given enough time he can get the airship going again. If Lucky uses the code word Feather he will get it moving again and take off, if he uses the word Stone then he will leave the circle and help fight. Either way the crew will do what they can and hold their posts)
Jax would move next to Lucky... the green light behind his lens replaced with a deep red, similar to the last time they were in combat. AJ would move and stand beside the shifter on the other side. He would part his thick black jacket and rest his right hand on his revolver as his left hand hangs by his side. The long thin metal blade of his rapier would slowly extend down from his arm as he prepares to help Lucky with his negotiations...
Okay, well, all suggestions welcome. He moves to the rail/side of the ship, where he has a clear view of the half-orc leader, and can also clearly be seen by him. I mean that, feel free to chip in with ideas really at any time at all.
He raises his voice:
Greetings, travellers. You have found the Double Drackon, bound for Sharn. My name is Lucky Dale. Who is your leader, and how should I address him?
Tara frowns and removes her spellshard from her pocket. "They appear to be following Pack Pattern Five, with a containment strategy. Combined with the clear intent of intimidation from the half-orc and two orogs, I would guess they want something from us. Most likely valuables." Tara cocks her head. "Most fascinating." As she speaks, her hand moves in a brief motion, and a dragon of gold and blue light darts into Lucky's back and vanishes.
(OOC: Tara will keep casting guidance throughout the conversation to at least give Lucky a d4 boost to his checks)
Saralyssa stands to one side, this sort of thing not really in her wheelhouse. She goes over her spells though, picking out where the most damage can be done in the littlest time.
The half Orc that’s surrounded by two Orogs step forward a couple paces. His face hard to see as the sun is behind him but he yells out in a authoritative and weathered voice. “Good morning, it seems that your ship has fallen on hard times. Tough work to make it to where ye be going. We are here to make it easier on you..... lessen your load of everything weighing you down. Namely your valuables and your supplies.” The group of orcs behind him continue to jump around and are hooting and hollering are demonstrating their amount of strength and energy.
Tara tilts her head. "Ask about their origin - who they are. We're stalling, right?" she murmurs. "Typically, nondragons in positions of power such as this enjoy talking about themselves and their accomplishments."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jax would give lucky a small glance before shaking his head and taking a step forward "Perhaps you and your eager companions would like to give our craft a push?" The warforged would say as his mechanical wolf begins to growl as the metal plates lining its back begin to stand up like dozens of knives. "We can release some of our surplus supplies into your care if you are willing to assist us in our travels... but if you plan to steal from us, I can assure you that I will slit your throat and grease my mechanical creations gears with your blood." The warforged would add as he points his arm blade towards the gang leader. His Steel defender now barking a deep and threatening bark as its eyes flash red.
Intimidation? With advantage due to Help form Steel defender? 14
Steel Defender
3rd level
By 3rd level, your tinkering has borne you a faithful companion, a steel defender. It is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See this creature’s game statistics in the steel defender stat block. You determine the creature’s appearance and whether it has two legs or four; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the steel defender shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take one of the actions in its stat block or the Dash, Disengage, Help, Hide, or Search action.
If the mending spell is cast on it, it regains 2d6 hit points. If it has died within the last hour, you can use your smith’s tools as an action to revive it, provided you are within 5 feet of it and you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher. The steel defender returns to life after 1 minute with all its hit points restored.
At the end of a long rest, you can create a new steel defender if you have your smith’s tools with you. If you already have a steel defender from this feature, the first one immediately perishes.
The half Orc chuckles a bit. “I see we have ourselves a businessman. Don’t know why you didn’t speak up first.” initially looking passed Lucky, He then cocks his head to the side as if to get a better look at the modified airship. “How would one push this thing anyways?... Now I can’t say we entered into this life to complete manual labor, but things have been going well for us lately. Now if we are the ones helping this hunk of junk going, I think it’s only fair we get some pay as well. Percentage of the journey for a percentage of the profits. Think we got a deal?”.
Insight DC: 20
The leader is evidently taking Jax’s threat seriously. It seems as though he was hoping for an easy shaking down and not really wanting bloodshed. His offer for a trade is attempting to save face in front of his men. If pushed too hard he will be forced to attack anyways.
Insight check DC 13:
He seems earnest in his response to barter a trade deal. Perhaps you caught him off guard with the threat, maybe he’s looking for a quick payday.
Insight check below 13: he is tough to read.
(only two people to check insight with a straight roll)
(OOC: We can move on whenever.)

Lucky bites his tongue and looks off into the distance, not keen to start an argument.
