"Kas, stay back lad. Don't want more of these hungry little blighters inside you" Qiv barks at Kas. After seeing the result of Kas' dagger on the maggots, Qiv draws his own. "You. Do. Not. Attack. My. Friend!" His speech is timed with every swipe of his dagger against the swarm.
Slashing wildly with his daggers, Kasimir manages to destroy all the remaining maggots except one – the one burrowing deep inside him, doing more internal damage by the second.
He races to the top of the stairs, near Red and Omen. Qivys is still near the armored body; Claire is outside the house somewhere.
Red, Omen, and Qivys are next up to act. (The grub no longer needs to roll – damage is being done.)
OCC: OK, Omen's action will rely on a DM decision. What I would like to do is cast Lightning Lure on the grub, if i can see it. The spell pulls the target towaards Omen and if it gets within 5 ft. of him the target will take 1d8 lightning damage. What it relies on if I can see it and if it is a possible action with the spell. If it is possible this is Omen's action.

Unfortunately, the grub has burrowed deeply inside Kas – it is definitely out-of-sight. Does Omen have another action? (Red and Qivys also may act - order unimportant.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Omen has no experience with anything like this. He is flustered, panicking to find a way to save Kas. Insight: 6
(Insight is more about reading somebody's body language or choice of words to tell if they're being deceitful, evasive, reluctant, about to attack, etc. What you might want is maybe more like:)
Medicine: 17 (Nice roll, with disadvantage!)
It occurs to Omen that this might be a job for Qivys, as this creature is now something more akin to a disease - something a paladin like your dwarven friend downstairs might be uniquely suited to help with.

Qivys
Seeing Kas run upstairs, Qiv follows close behind. "Hang on lad, let's see if we can't get that thing out!"
Safely at the top of the stairs, Qivys kneels and instructs Kas to do the same. "Let's have a look here" Qiv starts to poke at the wound. Carefully of course. He examines the entry wound and also any left over bug guts that may be on either himself of Kas.
If he identifies the wound as a "disease" he will place one hand on Kas' chest and the other on his holy symbol. With eyes closed, he raises his head. A barely audible prayer escapes his mouth.
Lay on Hands - Cure disease.
(OoC: Sorry for lack of formatting. Real quick post while I'm at work. I'll edit at lunch time. DM feel free to play Qiv to keep things moving or I'll be able to get to it in a few hours.)
(Yeah baby. Natural 20!!)
(Anyone know the tool tip for LoH? I tried skill and spell, couldn't get it to work)
With a knowledgable eye, a touch to Kasimir's chest, and an invocation to Pelor, Qivys succeeds in destroying the remaining grub inside Kas. No further damage.
Combat has ended. You are all at the top of the cellar stairs. Kas still has a substantial wound in his side, and Red and Omen are still deeply unnerved by the sounds they heard earlier (and remain at disadvantage for ability checks and are unable to go downstairs yet.)
Would you like to wait 15 minutes to see if Omen and Red recover their nerves? Or would you like to take a short rest and perhaps let Kas do some healing? (One hour. Omen and Red will definitely be settled by then, also.) Or would you like to move on now? (And which way?)
If you do want to stop and recuperate, do you want to do it here? Outside? Or where?
(A short rest would be handy. But I would love to get my hands on the armour etc from downstairs and try and find out where the screams came from. We didn't actually discover that, did we? Qiv is happy to try that {the armour salvage anyway} solo if the others want to short rest outside. But I can wait to hear others opinion)
(Well I'd prefer to take a short rest so we could all go down together. Aside from the fear Red doesn't really need one yet so if Qivys can't wait she can cast heal healing word on Kas and get him back up to full instead of having a short rest. Though I suppose it doesn't seem like much else is going to happen down there so I might be worrying about nothing.)
(I sense that most of you would prefer to leave the house, take a Short Rest, and then return to the cellar? Let me know if I'm wrong.)
(I will post in about nine or ten hours - post any specific instructions in the meantime, either about where you will rest, whether Kas wants to expend a hit die or be magically healed, any other downtime activities others might want to take, and the specifics of your next actions.)
The terrible burning pain in Kasimir's gut ebbs to a dull ache. His face is pale and his body shivers as he looks earnestly at the paladin. "Thank you, Qivys. I am -- truly -- in your debt." Then, with a wry grin, "Not a very noble way to go, eaten by worms in an old basement. I'd prefer something a little flashier." His forehead creases,"I wonder who's our friend down there, and what was he doing here? Everyone we spoke to said no one's been in this house in years, but he can't have been dead too long."
(I would like to take a short rest and use my Hit Die to heal 6. We can do it in the pantry at the top of the stairs, so Qivys can search the dead body while we rest within earshot. If we do decide to rest outside I want to stay far away from the well.)
Seeing the general mood of his companions, Qiv takes a walk around the room making sure everything appeared safe enough. "Let's take five. I'll keep an eye while you all rest and shake off the jitters."Qivys will stand guard during the short rest, allowing everyone to recuperate.
You all take a short rest in what appears to be an old scullery. From the staining on its interior, you can tell that the large empty copper cask near the window was once used to boil water, perhaps to wash dishes or laundry.
The house is dead quiet, although at one point you hear a single distant muffled thump from the basement.
You finish the short rest without incident. Kasimir's side feels much better, and everyone's nerves calm.

Attack 24 Damage 6
Qivys manages to destroy more of the wriggling white maggots. There are very few left, including the one inside Kas.
It's Kasimir's turn. The grub burrows deep inside his body, doing 6 damage. (Note: This unique monster does its damage on the player's turn.)
Kasimir may now act.
Kasimir:
"Get it out! Get it out!" he shrieks. He slashes at the remaining grubs between him and the stairs as he runs up the steps.
1st Dagger Attack = 18; damage = 5
2nd Dagger Attack = 24; damage = 3
Sneak attack = 1
He runs up the stairs, looking for their healer. "There's a freaking bug in me! Get it out!"

(OoC: Perhaps see if Red can spare a bardic dice to help with your rolls? If it's at all possible in the first place)
(OCC: I read the spell and all I see is the target gets a Str roll to resist, if it fails then spell takes affect)
Unfortunately, the grub has burrowed deeply inside Kas – it is definitely out-of-sight. Does Omen have another action? (Red and Qivys also may act - order unimportant.)

Omen
Omen will help bind Kas' wound if its not healed and then say:
"The better part of Valor...?" he asks. "At least until this fear subsides."
All is quiet. Omen binds Kas' painful wound.
