"Be thankful you leave with you life. Do not attempt to exploit our mercy. Know that if we learn of betrayal, we WILL find you. We WILL come for you. Now, begone, else I change my mind"Qiv stares straight into the mans eyes, unblinking.
Talking to his friends "Should we talk to the woman behind the door before we go any further? Perhaps you could see if Claire has discovered anything and get her to join us."This last sentence is directed to Kas. "Be careful"he adds.
(OoC Don't mind me I'll just steal your thoughts JT. )
Marbles averts his eyes and winces anxiously at Omen's Prestidigitation. "Thank ye' kindly," he mutters to the ground. He nods to the others and then slowly walks through the kitchen and down the hall. You hear the back door open and close, and he's gone. You hear him exchange a few words with Claire, then silence.
"The cavern is too big for us to handle, at least for today. There's a mage, some hobgoblins, and a few like Marbles and Stumpy, all holed up in a defensible position. Fortunately, they're not our responsibility. We just need some evidence of what's going on up here, and it sounds like we can get that from Sanbalet's room. We need to talk Stumpy into opening the door, or else we'll have to bust it open. That part shouldn't be too hard.
"The problem comes from the folks in the caves not staying in the caves. Marbles says there's a sliding panel behind the shelves; we need to barricade that so no one can pop out to shoot us full of arrows -- again. But I'm not going back down there without a healer on hand -- there's easier ways to earn 20 gold."
He shouts out the window, "Hey, Clarita! We could use your help in here!"
Claire has been waiting outside near the well. She is willing to accompany you as far as the cellar/bunkhouse, but not into combat. (She does have a few spells at her disposal, including Cure Wounds and Guidance.)
"Red, go see if Claire can help with your wounds." Qiv's suggestion almost sounds like an order. There's an underlying nervousness to his voice. His face softens as he continues "I...I....I'm sorry everyone. I failed you all. I gave my word that I would protect you and I failed."His head falls to his chest, disheartened.
Kas chucks Qivys' shoulder. "As I see it, you and Red saved our hides. We're all alive so your promise is kept. Going forward, however, I'd recommend avoiding promises of that sort. There's just no way to keep them. My dad once told me, 'You can promise effort, not results.'" At this reminder of his pasy, Kasimir's face clouds over and grows closed. "Anyway, no time for moping. You lead the way down the stairs again, and maybe this time I don't nearly die. Third time's a charm, right?"
(OOC: The only shelves I remember seeing were in the room with the body. Were there also shelves in the bunkroom?)

There are shelves in both rooms:
Wine Cellar: Shoulder-height wooden bottle racks line the north and west walls of the wine cellar. (There appear to be no intact bottles left in the racks and shattered bottles cover the floor.)
Cellar: There are some empty shelves in the southwest corner of the room. (Not indicated on the map. Not far from where the Twins appeared.)
Are you all headed back downstairs? Any rest first?
(Long rest would be ideal but not very practical I think. But if the others want a short rest, no problems)
Qivys
With Kas' comment Qiv cheers up considerably. "Wise man your pa. So I shall rephrase my promise - I'll do everything in my power to keep y'all alive - how's that lad? Better?"he says with a grin.
"I agree." Omen says, "A rest is in order I believe but, we do need to watchful for attacks. This is enemy territory after all."
"And Qivys" Omen continues, "Kas is right, we hold no blame to you for anything that has happened. It's a mission and things like this happen constantly." Omen pats Qivys in the shoulder.
"Now" Omen says, "Let's rest and get prepared. an attack will probably come soon." Omen finishes.
"The way I see it we have at least five doors that we're yet to pass through. And that's without heading upstairs. A lot of ground to cover if we wish to be out by nightfall. Let's get a move on. Which way Omen? Ye seem to have a keen nose about ya."

Kasimir:
While the others rest and heal, Kas will stealthilyStealth10noisily make his way through the kitchen to check out the rooms just south of the kitchen and scullery, checking the doors for traps 13 before opening them. I'll start with the smaller room to the east.

The doors to the side rooms are both open, and Kas is able to easily peer inside each from the hallway.
The larger room on the west is an old dining room. At one time a long table stood in the center of this room; now it lies broken on the floor. A broken chair sits against the wall between the windows, and there is a heap of broken dishes in the northwest corner.
The smaller room on the east is what one might call a "withdrawing room". Two stuffed armchairs stand near the fireplace. The covers of both have been torn and the stuffing has been pulled out, but the wooden frames are intact. A broken table lies on the floor near the north wall.
Curiosity sated, Kas will head back to the scullery to wait for the others to finish their rest.
To Qivys: "We don't really need to search the whole house. Our mission was to bring back some evidence to the town council. It sounds like Sanbalet's room is the most likely place to get that evidence. Let's get in there, grab whatever we can, and get back to town! And -- I'm just throwing it out there -- maybe we burn the place down as we leave? You know, so the goblins can't get up to the surface. It'd be a public service."

Red
Seeing Kas return to the house while the others rest Red will follow him. Both curious and not wanting anyone to be alone if they must separate right now. Seeing Kas at least attempt to be stealthy, despite all the noise he makes she will follow suit. Red will just peek her head in and check out the rooms after him. If Kas doesn't look at the other rooms she will.
"If everyone is rested, let's get this over with"he hoists himself up, making final adjustments to his armour and heads towards the stairs back down to the basement. "Let's see what this woman has to say for herself"
An hour has passed; your short rest is complete. (If you have any hit dies to spend or other benefits to accrue, let me know and mark your sheets accordingly.)
Qivys leads whomever is ready back downstairs (stepping gingerly over that first step), through the wine cellar, with the intention of passing again through the secret door and into the cellar/bunkhouse.
What's the plan?

With a motion and a quiet prayer, Claire casts Cure Wounds upon Red for 8 hit points.
She asks about Marbles and reports that he warned her something about snakes in the well.

So you're all agreeing to a short rest - one hour - in the scullery? If agreeable, this will be your second short rest of the day so far.
It's about mid-day now, and a breeze is beginning to pick up outside, occasionally rattling odds and ends throughout the decrepit house.
Qivys
After the short break Qiv jumps to his feet.
