Qivys
Seeing not one but two of his friends dead on the floor, a wave of emotion floods over him. Screaming in anguish he attacks the hobgoblin, looking to punish it for the atrocity it had committed.
Just an update – while Kas and Omen are gone, Leapingmountain and Mithdraugaer are very much with us. They are concocting some new characters and will be back in the game soon.
However, I'll be starting them off in a PM thread; don't expect them back immediately. Red and Qivys are on their own for the immediate future.
Red, Qivys, and Claire are the last ones standing. You are surrounded by the bodies of the dead – the hobgoblin, Stumpy, the boy, and now Omen and Kas as well. The door to Sanbalet's room is open, as is the secret door to the wine cellar. The secret door to the caverns is closed, as is the barred "Danger" door. Qivys is badly wounded; Claire only slightly injured.
Red finally scrambles to her feet and rushes into the wine cellar. She stops abruptly, seeing the body of Kas lying their so much like Omens. So much like her families the last time she'd seen them. For a while she just stares before seeming to remember the alive members of the party. She turns to face Claire and Qivys. If she feels like she failed, she can't imagine how Qivys feels.
"I..."want to go home. She almost says before swallowing the words. Not helpful. "What now?" Not that that's particularly helpful either.

Qivys
Qiv, looking around blankly will head to Claire and ask if she can do anything for his wounds.
(OoC sorry, quick post while at work. Will post a more substantial and fitting post once I get home. Devastated.)
Qiv walk to his nearest fallen comrade. He falls to his knees next to the body. Tears rolling into his beard.
"Dayamu khuzan ai-menu tak khaz meliku suz yenetu" he manages an ancient dwarven farewell between the waves of emotion. "Farewell my dear friends. I swear this Sanbalet will pay for his..." His voice trails off. After several moments he manages to compose himself enough to stand and take the hands of both Red and Claire. "We cannot leave them here. Are you both up to helping me carry them out?"Without waiting for a response he begins to fashion a stretcher from the cots and other materials around the room. Once the stretcher is finished he will direct the others to search Sanbalets quarters. We still need proof or my friends will have given their lives in vain.
The crude and flimsy cots need little modification to become reasonable stretchers, although it will take all three of you to carry one body up the stairs at a time.
Claire takes a quick look through Sanbalet's room, and grabs a few things. She finds three books that look like they may have some value; an unlit bullseye lantern with a movable shutter; a small wooden box holding twelve candles, flint and steel, and a piece of parchment with some notes on it; and a fancy floor-length oilskin coat trimmed in iridescent green silk, that was in the wardrobe.
(Could Qiv carry one of the bodies slung over his shoulders? Even if he had to drop some extra gear. It's not that I don't trust you Chris, it's just that....I don't ;) Don't want to run into any more bad guys)
Even fully armored (Qivys is walking around with 203 pounds of gear!), Qivys can lift and carry (slowly) another 277 pounds. (He's like a big ant!) Kasimir, fully laden, weighs 248 pounds. So, yes, Qivys can carry him straight out of there.
But neither Red nor Claire have the strength to carry a fully-equipped Omen alone. But Red could carry Omen, and Claire could carry his stuff, or vice versa.
Your movement speed would be reduced to five feet while carrying a body.
(Just FYI: Mithdraugaer and Leapingmountain have begun their stories in private PM threads. It may take some time, but Red and Qivys will meet some new characters at some point. Stay tuned!)
In the meantime, Red and Qivys: are you lugging the two bodies upstairs? What then?
With the help of both Claire and Red, the three of them will move the two fallen companions upstairs to the kitchen.
"Hopefully the journals you found have some hard evidence inside. I think we need to leave this place for now. My wounds are quite severe and we all could use an uninterrupted rest. Shall we make our way back to the temple?"Pain shoots through his body as if on cue.
You successfully carry the two bodies and their gear up the stairs, through the scullery, and into the kitchen. All is quiet in the house. The wind is beginning to pick up a little outside.
But as strong as you are, it would likely take you more than a day to carry two bodies to Saltmarsh over your shoulders. They are very heavy. You will likely need to dispose of them nearby, find a cart, flag down a traveller with one, get some help, or get creative.
A quick look at the books suggest they are not journals, but rather reading material. There is at least one page of notes, however. But they'll all need to be examined further when you make some time for it.
As the three of you pause for a moment in the kitchen, you hear a skittering sound echoing from the sink, as though something living were crawling rapidly through the drainpipe.
"We can't make it back to town carrying them tonight. I don't know if it's a better idea to rest here, or somewhere on the path."She glances at the sink. "At least out there it's fairly open? And I don't know about our chances of being attacked but I feel it's pretty high if we stay here."
"I agree, I don't know if we're going to be able to make it back to town without incident. I'm in no condition to fight. As much as I want to make sure they're put to rest properly, I don't know if trying to carry them all the way is a good idea."He looks disheartened at the thought
Qivys
Seeing not one but two of his friends dead on the floor, a wave of emotion floods over him. Screaming in anguish he attacks the hobgoblin, looking to punish it for the atrocity it had committed.
Attack: 14 Damage: 6 (using Inspiration)
The hobgoblin again cringes at the shrill sounds – 7 – but cannot escape the psychic attack. It collapses to the ground, brain-dead.
Combat is over.
Qivys screams in anguish, but the opportunity for punishment is over, for now.

But now we'll never find out what Kasimir's true name was -- dun dun dun!

Red and Qivys - what's your plan forward?

Investigation 4
Translation of the dwarven farewell
Blessings of the ancestors be with you until we meet again.
(OoC: let me know if there's a check you need for the building of the stretcher)
Claire apologies - she has nothing left to help with Qivys' wounds.
(OOC - traveling today - limited posting until tonight.)

The skittering sound gets a bit louder, filling the decaying kitchen with spine-tingling sound of many little scratching feet.
Red
"I would say we could come back for them, but I do not believe there would be much left... should we take their stuff?" Is that disrespectfulI?
