Gerrard ineffectively steps between Qivys and Bela, but the two successfully manage to ignore the diplomatic noble.
Qivys lays into Bela with his deadly glaive, tearing deep into the man's ribcage with his second, radiant blow.
Then the massive polar bear envelops him with inky tendrils.
Bela is left staggering under the combined force of this duo. He coughs and sputters and growls with pain. He looks rough.
Bela again tries to sink his long teeth deep into the squirming, grappled Qivys. Bite Attack: 17. Hit: 5 piercing damage plus 6 necrotic damage.
Emboldened, Lankus takes another shot at him while he's briefly occupied. Heavy Crossbow Attack: 13. Hit: 3 piercing damage
"Hobb!" shouts Bela, calling a name you have not yet heard, before addressing the party again: "You insolent fools! This is not the night to cross me!" "You!" he sputters at Gerrard. "Fetch the damned halfling! Now!" "You!" he stares now at the polar bear, lowering his voice. "It's time to stop this." But Boko can feel his invasive influences sliding off her arcanely-protected mind.

The polar bear roars into Bela’s face, and tries to bite it off. If it doesn’t come off, a massive paw reaches up and tries to knock the whole head off.
Boko is angry.
Bite Attack: 15 Damage: 9 plus 3 force damage from eldritch maul Claw Attack: 22 Damage: 13 plus 4 force damage from eldritch maul
"Fine! You don't want my help, Lord Bela? Sure, I'll go see what Master Fenwader is up to while my so-called friends murder you!" yells Gerrard, stalking off in a huff, his head spinning.
Double move towards where he last saw the halfling.

As the bear tears into Bela's tough, bitter flesh, Qivys delivers a final, mighty, brilliantly-radiant blow of his glaive, cleaving the entity's evil form nearly in two.
"You ill-timed idiots!" gasps Bela. But instead of collapsing as an inert corpse, the thing dissipates into a thin smoky vapor, which then begins to slowly drain away into the kitchen.
Lankus fires another bolt at the nothingness, which skitters off the floor and lodges in a crack.
Meanwhile, Gerrard, his mental state unchanged by events upstairs, continues to follow Peri's trail. He finds himself in the room flooded with a thin puddle of water, just past Edgar's body. A circle of arcane sigils, carved into ancient raised stones, is at its center. In front of it is a blackened skeletal figure splayed inanimately upon the wet ground, wearing brilliant crimson robes. The stone circle is clearly the "portal" that Bela referred to.
Gasping at the pain, Qivys grumbles. "Blasted coward!" he says. "Ya ain't gettin' away that easy ya..." Qivys mutters as he attempt to follow the mist.
Boko also follows the mist, right on Qivys’ heels, not wanting to lose sight of the vampire. She gives a big bear-ish chuff of approval at the paladin’s prowess.

Gerrard:
Stopping to check on the corpse, Gerrard wonders if this is the “Caretaker” they have been warned about…After all, that Edgar fellow was certainly an undead of some kind. He examines the robe and the bones, trying to determine if it is an undead and, if so, how to keep it from rising.

Qivys and Boko: Either or both of you make a DC15 Perception check to follow the mist through the dark keep.
Gerrard examines the strange crimson-garbed corpse lying in the puddle in the back room near the portal. It looks quasi-religious in its old-fashioned attire, but he connects it to no religion he knows. Its state suggests it has not been in the water long - perhaps hours, but not days. Its bones have turned to an ashen powder, and its pose suggested it died quickly and painfully, although there are no apparent wounds or means.
Unable to help himself in his addled and disturbed state, Gerrard is enamored of the brilliant crimson robes. He pulls the garment off of the crumbling skeleton and puts it in his bag of holding, then calls out, "Master Fenwader, are you here?"
Perception: 8
If he hears no response (either from Peri or perhaps the imprisoned Saltmarsh kids), Gerrard assumes Peri is still on the other side of the portal, so he walks through it to fetch him.

If nothing seems pressing/dangerous, she darts forward and tries to open the tomb. Is is a casket with a lid? A mausoleum with a door? She tries pulling or knocking, whichever seems most useful. She doesn’t want this vampire to get away.
If Qivys cautions her to stop or pause she will stop.
Qiyvs moves to be 20 ft. from where the mist went and uses his last Divine Sense, to try and sort out where the vampire is and if there are any more down here.
Qivys can divinely sense the undead nature of this foul vapor as it creeps into the crypt. Within each of the six open stone doors, you can see mausoleum-like chambers, each containing a large stone casket, all of their lids open. The mist flows into this one, in unnatural ways in which mist should not ordinarily flow.
Qivys sees no other undead creatures here.
Stepping forward and peering into the casket, Boko can see a human form beginning to take shape within, as the mist starts to take physical form.

The vapor swirls and ripples in reaction to Bokobear's swipe. The partially-materialized humanoid in the casket dissipates for a moment, becoming vaporous once again, but then it begins to reform once more.
With a sudden clatter, the pale peg-legged boy emerges from the arch to the southwest and races across to the room to the southeast.
Lankus gets a shot off at him: Crossbow Attack vs peg-legged boy: 19. Hit: 8 piercing damage.
But, hopping over the still form of Edgar in the doorway, the boy lands with a splash and flees out of sight into the chamber to the southeast.
