Taking in Gerrard's outburst with wide, skeptical eyes, Melody curses under his breath and backs up a few steps.
Then, in a burst of cold, black flames, Melody levitates a few feet off the ground, his face a mask of ecstasy, and begins to sing in a language you do not understand. He begins to drift back, back toward the exit. Calling out to the audience in deeply foreign, alien-sounding words, the crowd slowly begins to exit through the back of the room, herded by this strange, floating, hunchbacked shepherd. Soon, even the most crazed, disconnected, foaming-at-the-mouth zealot begins to exit the room, leaving you alone in this dark temple.
The ceremony is over. The doors shut. You are left alone in this blood-smeared temple, part of which was once clearly a sizable galley or ship.
The rotten shark hangs limply overhead again, the lifeless heads dangling still; even those heads that fell loose into the black water are now firmly affixed to it again with wire.

Kei
"What are you doing?" Kei growls at Gerrard. "You just told me that Melody warned you away from the water, now look, he's obviously empowered by the entity and you stop to chat." He moves next to Gerrard and places a hand on his shoulder. "If he said not to go in the water I'd say that's exactly where we need to go, come on" he pleads as he tugs at Gerrards shoulder.
Alas, Melody has exited the chamber, together with the entire congregation, urged on by Gerrard's words and amplified by Melody's actions. The doors have closed behind them. Everyone has left this room but you. He does not hear Gerrard's question.

Gerrard:
With no response from Melody and no other options presenting themselves, Gerrard sighs and prepares to enter the water, saying, ”I suppose you are right, Master Kei.”
Before stepping in, he looks around now that the people have gone—perhaps an alternate route will present itself.

Gerrard descends the steps into the water, The first step moves slightly; the fifth seems pretty solid. His blade sizzles; the flames extinguish but the water boils where it is immersed.
As his head goes under the water, a black mass ahead seems to resolve into something more tangible, if still unclear.
Gerrard fends off whatever psychic probe that might have been.
But before he can react further, a huge grey tentacle lashes out toward him.
It does not strike Gerrard, but rather grasps the headless corpse nearby, pulling it deep into the pull, where you sense, from the cloud of blood, that it has been torn to shreds by a large unseen mouth in the gloom.
Continuing to move deeper, Gerrard relies on his Mariner’s Armor to propel him through the water towards the terror of the deep. His long blade providing light and his short blade boiling the water, he moves in to attack!

Standing knee deep in thw murky pool, Kei watches as Gerrards silhouette disappears into the depths. Although he can't see his friend it is obvious to him what Gerrards intent is. He points a slightly trembling finger towards the water, pictures Gerrard in his mind and utters a few soft arcane words.
"Please don't attack it. It knows of us all and only wants to keep us safe. It has promised to return to the ocean depths and not bother anyone."
Kei submerges himself once his message is sent, moving towards where he had seen the light of Gerrards glowing sword melt into the darkness of the pool.
Gerrard advances through the black, slimy water toward the large shadowed, tentacled figure at the bottom of the pool.
He hits it all but once in a flurry of bladed attacks, blades which sink deep into the tough hide of the alien creature. It emits a shrill squeal of pain.
The creature's skin oozes mucous. Gerrard: make a CON save vs. its effects.
