Cursing himself, the kraken, the aboleths, and anything else he can think of, Kellen says we lost it...I can't believe we lost a kraken.
Channeling his instrument once again, a soft glow surrounds Kellen before he disappears completely. He swims invisibly 10 feet up and then forward, looking around for any sign of the kraken.

"There has to be a connection between the runes in the pit and the sigil on the kraken. Let's keep destroying the runes in the pit and hope it weakens the beast," suggests Gerrard.

"Yes. Yes. Destroy the runes" he agrees quite vehemently. He takes aim and unleashes multiple shadow shards. In quick succession a total of six charged streaks of darkness fly from his fingers.
Kei and one of the aboleths continue to destroy the glowing sigils around the rim of the pit. They extend about 20 feet down, but the murky pit continues much deeper, descending into utter darkness. Even with darkvision, it is pitch black below the uppermost 20 feet.
Eventually, all of the visible sigils are destroyed, but it is slow going. They seem to be somewhat damage-resistant.
"There are more sigils. Deep, at the very bottom of this pit. We sense them. Human, descend and destroy them all," speaks the disembodied aboleth voice, addressing Kei.
Gerrard and Kellen continues to search for the missing kraken in the black waters. Gerrard can see little beyond the tip of his blade, but Kellen can see farther. Unfortunately, neither see any sign of the kraken.
Splitting up seems like a bad idea...but we might lose it completely if we don't Kellen says to Gerrard, still peering through the underwater gloom. Although you can't see much past that sword, can you? Damn it all to Avernus, what a mess. Perhaps we should regroup and go from ther-Gods, I hope that thing didn't go after Joell'n!
With a horrified look, Kellen will swim up as fast as he can to check on the boat, making sure the kraken didn't go after it.
"Get back up here Gerrard!" Kei barks the order. "You can't swim that deep, plus if it's into the shadows we must go then I'd say I'm the more qualified" he attempts to coax Gerrard out of the darkness in the pit. "I fear your glowing sword will do you little good down there. I can't see beyond 20ft which says to me it's some sort of magical darkness."
Whether Gerrard ascends or not Kei will swim into the centre of the pit and slowly work his way deeper, blasting any rune he can see.
Gerrard and Kei dive deeply into the pit. The water is black, with the acidic taste of metal and magic, and filled with fine silt. It is deep - very deep. And fouler, the deeper they swim. The pressure becomes intense, the temperature icy cold. They swim down 100 feet, then 200, with no sign of a bottom. The walls become slimier.
Meanwhile, swimming frantically back up to the surface, Kellen finds Joell'n sitting motionless in his vessel, drifting nearby with its sails down. He looks up, expressionless, at Kellen. "Ready to go?" he asks.

Kellen
Kellen looks around, as if expecting a giant tentacle to come crashing down on the boat at any second. Ahh...no. Just checking in on you. We'll be back soon, just....just be careful up here. Keep an eye out for anything strange...and if something seems off, get outta here. We'll figure it out. Kellen dives back under, shaking his head, panic subsiding. He didn't trust very many people, and Joell'n was probably the only one with a boat.
He'll make a big circle as he heads back down through the hole, looking for any signs of disturbance that might show which way the thing went while he swims down and back into the chamber.
"How much deeper can this pit go?" A tinge of desperation sneaking into Kei's voice, the pressure all but cutting off his sentence. He slows his descent but continues the dive. "Must be a bottom."
Somewhat disturbed by how well his new physiology adapts to this environment, Gerrard stays with Kei as they go deeper, saying, “Let us finish this…together.”

Even in this moonless, overcast night, Kellen can see much farther above the surface than he can below. Scanning the horizon he sees... nothing much. The water is moderately calm; a cool, clean night breeze is blowing off the bay. Joell'n rests motionless in his drifting boat. The brown lights of the Styes glow dully to the east. All is serene.
Meanwhile, Gerrard and Kei continue to dive. Kei is feeling the pressure and the cold; Gerrard, while his vision remains limited, seems immune to both.
Eventually, they reach a bulb-shaped chamber at the bottom of the pit. It is caked in slime; the suspension of silt is thick. But writhing sigils dance and glow through the black filth, all across the floor. The chamber is otherwise empty.
Turning to Kei, Gerrard says, “Let’s get to work.” He draws his dagger and wills it into flame—or at least scalding heat—and begins to scratch at the runes until their light fades, at which point he moves on to the next rune.

Kellen rolls his eyes. Suppose it's too much to ask for you to assist with that. He'll peer over the edge of the pit, and start swimming down slowly, careful to keep an eye on the rear in case the aboleths were double crossing them.

Gerrard:
Torn between the invisible Kellen and the obedient Kei, Gerrard decides Kellen will be able to handle himself and Kei likely needs his help.
”We are allies in this, not your servants, Aboleths. Have a care how you treat us,” he says darkly, “though your tactics are sound.”
Gerrard moves down towards the sigils in the pit, swimming deeply inside to get at the ones near the bottom (move and dash to get deep).

"Within," answers one in his mind. "Destroying the obscene symbols."
