Closing the door behind him, Peri opens the metal box and examines its contents. He then turns to the Captain's desk and unlocks and searches the drawers.

"We want to see the back o' ya as soon as we're able; there's no profit t'be had keepin' you aboard any longer'n we have to. I'll go check the Captain's log t'see if there's anythin' useful there. Meanwhile, why don't you tell Dwal here whatever you can to help us get you ashore. He's the new owner of this mighty ship, after all."
The lizardfolk seem confused as to why Peri would want to view their dorsal lappets, but they don't seem to argue. To Gerrard's question, the lizardfolk say, simply,
Armaments. We expect a full accounting of them.
Peri pops open the unlocked metal box. A large metal spring-loaded blade hidden in the base of the box slashes suddenly and forcefully at his shins. Peri attempts to jump back.
Dex Check: 23. Damage upon fail (DC13):2 (Half damage on success.)
The blade cuts deeply into Peri's right leg.
The box contains ten electrum ingots – quite valuable! Nothing else.
Limping over to the desk, Peri tries the key in one leftmost drawer - it fits, and unlocks the drawer.
The reptilian doesn't even blink as Qiv stares it down. Defeated he shifts his attention to Dwal. "A locksmith or a theif? Seems we're up to less than honorable deeds these days brother."

Gerrard:
"I understand," says Gerrard to the lizardfolk, "Your need for armaments is your own business. Unfortunately, the previous captain was not very...forthcoming. We will find your weapons and the map, then come back to speak with you, if that is acceptable. Sorry for disturbing your sleep cycle."

"You will not leave this ship alive, otherwise," says the lizardfolk, coldly. "A deal has been struck."
Peri pops open the first unlocked desk drawer in the captain's cabin without further incident. It contains two small bottles of clear liquid and one small flask of brown fluid, together with a small silver key. There is a second locked drawer in the desk.
"Oh Captain....have you discovered anything that can help this unfortunate situation?"He keeps a fake smile and cheerful voice to prevent their new passengers from panicking and starting something violent.
In Dwarven he says to Dwal
"Let me know when brother. I am ready to go on your word!"

His face darkening, Gerrard replies, “A deal might have been struck, but it was not with me. If you wish to threaten my life, know that it is at the risk of your own. Close your door and go back to sleep and we will see what we can do for you. Continue to threaten me or attack me, and I will end you. That is the deal I offer.”

Blinking once or twice, somewhat stunned it actually worked, Gerrard says, “Looks like we have some searching to do gentlemen. Does anyone want to keep watch on deck in case they change their minds?”

Peri:
Hoping to find the Captain's papers in the last locked drawer, but also having learned a bit of caution, Peri examines the drawer for any sign that it may also be trapped. 20 (+4 if it's Perception, -1 if Investigation)
If he doesn't detect any traps, he will try the keys on the drawer and search it.
Peri sees no evidence of traps in the second drawer. The captain's key fits in this one, also, and Peri is able to unlock and open the second drawer without incident.
In it are seven maps of various sea and coastal localities; they look professionally prepared. Beneath these is another map, crudely drawn, depicting a rendezvous point at a small promontory beside a river in the tidal marshes, ten miles southwest of the town of Saltmarsh.
Aha! he thinks, this looks likely! He limps out to the Main deck holding up the crude map. "Here! Is this -"He stops as he realizes the lizardfolk have gone. He walks over to Dwal (and anyone else who's still on deck) and shows them the map. Then he gives them a summary of what was found in the captain's cabin. (If anyone wants to try the silver key on something he'll give it to them.) He asks Dwal if the lizardfolk said anything more, and when he learns that the smugglers were supposed to be transporting weapons he says, "Did anyone see any likely crates in the hold? How about the other forward locker?"
”I was just deciding what to check next, Captain,” says Gerrard, moving over to the unexplored forward door, “I’ll see what I can find.” Sheathing his partying blade, he uses his off hand to open the door.

"We need to find us locksmith. Ya'll keep poppin open chests and gettin' cut and poisoned." Dwal says as he shakes his head.
Dwal perks up at the word armaments. He looks to the lizardman and asks in Draconic "Is you're tribe at war?"

"Aye" Dwal responds. "Those in the hall of our ancestors are frowning I suspect." he says in dwarven.
The Lizardfolk stare back silently. They will not answer Dwal's question.
