Abraxas will thank Mro Jus Bir for the clarification. ("We will have to talk ink, quills, and paper soon!" he says.)
He'll walk toward a pair of Wysto repairing a house near the shore. "Hello," he says in Common. "We're a small group of visitors to your village. Is there a good place to rest close by? Who might be good to chat with about the town? Is there a library?" He is happy to get close to them, but doesn't want to get his feet or especially his satchels wet.
The Wysto share a look, and one swims off while the other moves to the shore to greet you. The creature clambers up onto land, revealing the interesting sight of humanoid legs and arms on a seahorse's body.
"Welcome to our little village, then," he beckons you toward one of the land buildings. "My wife has gone to fetch the elder, please relax inside our guesthouse while we wait. Are you here to help us with our nets, I hope? It's become quite the problem. We can't keep up with the rate we're losing them, and our stores are dwindling."
"Exactly that," Abraxas smiles. "Yes. What has been happening to your nets?" He continues to move towards the Wysto. "I'm curious to hear from the elder, but what has your experience been?"
Harmony had heard Bir, nodding back and glad to hear that. She would have followed Abraxas, very surprised to see the creature's humanoid legs and arms with a seahorse body. She listens to him, nodding back and smiling. "Thank you. Yes, we're here to help with the nets. Is it just fish that normally swim around in the water as well?" she then would say back as well.
Aisha seemed put aback by the appearance of the people they were meeting. It didn't quite 'look' right to her. but despite herself, she kept that opinion sealed behind her lips. Instead, as everyone else spoke and responded, she looked int the water from where she was, if at all possible. Not really looking for anything specific. But when everyone else's conversations stopped for a moment, she interjected with a question of her own, trying to avoid looking at them so as to hide her face with her hair, but saying Better yet, how are they being lost? What is causing it? Some hostile animal? Other creatures like us or you? Rowdy children? The weather? Or some other natural occorance? And if it is nets you need, why not simply buy more from elsewhere?
Once you reach the shade of the village's guesthouse, the Wysto explains the situation.
"Each night, our fishers gather the fish they have caught that day and hold them in nets throughout the village, where they remain until they are ready to be cut and stored for transportation. We have always dealt with the occasional net ripping, or being carried away on the waves, but lately something, or someone, has been cutting them. It has been happening for months; it was an annoyance at first, but whatever is doing it has grown bolder with time. It has happened every night for a tenday. At this rate, we will never be able to transport enough to survive. The fish we catch are our village's only source of income, you see. That's why the elder is offering so much for help."
“Does the cut across each net appear similar? Is it a jagged or clean cut? And when it is made, is it below the surface or above?”, Garu asks curiously.

"We don't want to pepper you with too many questions, but we are curious!" Abraxas says. "How has guarding the nets overnight gone? Any clues gathered that way?" Abraxas peers around the inside of the village guesthouse. He is interested in the architecture and the structural details of a house built this close to ocean. He notices similarities to Waterdavian construction especially.
The construction of the village is unique, and flavored by the surrounding environment, made of wood and reeds with seaweed hanging off of them. They also seem to be coated in some sort of substance that prevents the water from soaking into the wood, based on what parts of the structures that you can see beneath the waves.
"The nets are attached to structures at the edge of the village. I do not think it woudl be possible to tell if the cuts are jagged or clean because they are thin, but the cut is usually in a straight line." the Wysto man answers.
The man looks to the side and bows suddenly, and an older Wysto, though not so old as to be stooped with age, enters the guesthouse at that moment and finishes the line of questioning. "Guarding the nets overnight has been of no help. We simply don't have enough people to watch all of the nets at the same time, and the moment they are not looking, the nets are cut, or sometimes they claim they are cut before their eyes, though no culprit has yet been spotted. Which is why we have called for aid."
"Welcome to our village. I am Elder Plash. And I certainly hope that you are asking these questions because the Order of Skogyr has finally seen fit to send you our way," the man says.
Aisha listened as the explanations, and some admittedly fair questions were laid out. And when the elder had finished his last sentence, she would say .. This one understands the situation in a way. Aisha's people operate similarly.. Fishing, hunting, and trrrading. Is the way of life of those who stay with the village. So this one understands why it may be hard to do what she is about to suggest, but have you considered limiting it to what can be watched? Or even less every once in a while. To make observation easier and morre possible? Aisha also has something else she can try. But tell this one, are the time if the cuttings rrandom, or... do they all happen roughly at the same time? She would stay long enough to hear his reply, before heading out on her own, seeking what would be roughly the center of the town.. but closer to the nets or the water where they would likely be. Her idea required no help.
And once she was there, Tsavi in tow but lazing about nearby, knowing what her mistress was up to and that it would take a bit... Aisha sat, cross-legged, closing her eyes, and extenting her senses out... using her Primevil Awareness...
Beginning at 3rd level, you can use your action and expend one ranger spell slot to focus your awareness on the region around you. For 1 minute per level of the spell slot you expend, you can sense whether the following types of creatures are present within 1 mile of you (or within up to 6 miles if you are in your favored terrain): aberrations, celestials, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead. This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number.
"We have cut back on the supply, and that has helped somewhat, but it also means we are making and shipping less and less. Our stores are running low, and if..." the elder glances over to the other Wysto man and says in a lower voice, "...if this continues for another tenday we are going to have to start rationing food."
"At first, the nets were cut overnight, but as soon as we catch wind of it, the pattern changes. Some of our nets have been cut during the day, while they are in the process of returning to town. What is most strange is that none of my people have seen so much as a shadow during the process."
"I know you are not as naturally equipped for the water as our kind, but please let us know whatever you need. My people will return with the day's catch within a few hours, and they will do whatever you need to solve this problem," the elder says.
Aisha moves to the shoreline, sitting as close to the center of the village as she can get without crossing into the watery portion.
For Aisha:
Your senses stretch across the surroundings, taking in the sound and the spray of the gentle waves that crash upon the shore. Almost immediately, you register a fiendish presence within the mile radius from where you sit.
Harmony was listening to everyone else's questions and the Wysto, nodding back and thinking. "Would either of you know any spells that could help with breathing underwater, or seeing invisible things?" she would have asked Abraxas and Bir. "Would it be possible to instead store the nets with fish in them on land and far away from the water so that they can't be cut as easily by whoever or whatever is doing this?" she had said to the Wysto, figuring that it would be harder for the culprit to cut the nets if they have to come on land to reach them as opposed to the nets being in the water.
"In my spell book," Abraxas says, touching his older worn satchel, "I have a spell that will dispel magic, including invisibility, I believe. But I would have to review it overnight to cast it." He inhales and coughs again. "I'm not a fan of water, Harmony, unfortunately, and so don't have any way to breath it. However, something to sip on right now might be good. I'm feeling a bit ill. Unbalanced. Out of whack."
Aisha maintained the spell for one minute, just to be sure that nothing else wandered within the range, before gettign up. Tsavi, jump starting when her mistress moved, as she headed back to where the party and elders were, both her and her panther dashing the whole way, so as to not miss them. Her face was serious when she returned, just starting to get out of breath.
And she would tell everyone there Aisha detects that this may be the work of fiends. Aisha let her spirit speak with the nature around us. And it told her that there is a fiendish presence somewhere within a mile of the village. Unfortunately, the spirits Aisha can contact are not powerful. They can tell me that something exists, but not where it is, or how many of it there are. But we at the very least, know they are fiends. It gives us some focus. The question is.. what do we do with this information? Does anyone have a way to divinate a course? Or something similar? Any way we can use this information to our benefit?
"I have a skill that may help. Tylyn imbues me with an ability to sense the location of other- or sub-worldly creatures. Like the fiends you speak of - if they are within 60 feet of me and not completely obscured. It's not perfect but its a start." Garu turns to the elders and asks, "Has there been any interaction with such a creature to your knowledge? Perhaps some new presence?"

"Placing our nets on land would be as good as handing them to whoever has been cutting them all this time; dead fish are as good to us as no fish. The quality suffers when they are not fresh, you see," the elder ruminates.
"I am sorry, but we have had no interaction with anything that might give us so much as a hint at who is behind this. That is why we have called for help."
The old Wysto nods along with the rest of the discussion, adding when it is over, "This guesthouse has rooms and beds for our overland visitors. Please, stay here as long as you need to prepare and solve this. I will inform the rest of the village to help you with whatever you require."
"Thank you kindly," Abraxas says to the elder. He starts toward the guesthouse.
"Aisha, if you were casting from within the center of the town and the range was a mile, how much territory was under water? Can we rule out the water as a location of fiends? That might help us narrow our search." Abraxas considers all he knows about the history of fiends and water: 26. Specifically, he wonders if there are certain types of fiends that are known to inhabit or welcome water.
"How often can you use this ability, Aisha? If we try again a mile from the center of the town, that might also help us narrow things down. Then we might begin using Garu's ability?" He thinks for a moment. "Of course, I am assuming the fiend is not moving." He looks downcast. "Of course, the elder might not know everything that goes on in his town. We should continue asking around."
At first, the concept of watery fiends seems very foreign to you, but once you shift your thoughts from Toril to Rikirta, the picture starts to become clearer, particularly involving the reactions toward Harmony on this world. Tieflings obviously do not exist here, and her demonic appearance has invoked reactions of fear from the populace at first sight. In particular, multiple people have used phrasing like "strange to see a demon out of water" or compared her to the "demons from the depths".
Harmony was hearing Abraxas, nodding back as she sighed. She gently pats his back, hoping that he will get better before she heard Aisha say that she detected a fiendish presence nearby, this being the work of fiends. She was very surprised to hear that and now thinking of how her, Abraxas, and Jove had dealt with devils back in Waterdeep. Could these fiends be hiding somewhere nearby, or somehow in the water maybe? Harmony heard the elder, realizing that would be the case before he told them of the guesthouse, nodding back. "Alright, thank you." she said back with a smile before following Abraxas to the guesthouse.
