Now finally able to get a beat on the situation, Aldreric approaches the base of the ledge. “Well it seems you definitely have us at a disadvantage. You’re leaving us with no choice really, other than to do what you say. However, if we are to kill this bugbear for you, it would be more beneficial for all of us, if we went in prepared. Please, tell us more about the bugbear, who he is and his whereabouts, as well as the location of this castle and the dwarf’s living status. Knowing all of this would of course, put all of our minds at ease and allow us to have a better chance of success in providing you with this Kulgar’s head.” Persuasion 11
“Wait, klarg? In this cave? Our apologies, I didn’t realize he was the same as ‘Kulgar’.” Aldreric began moving towards the steps, as he spoke. “We’ve actually already killed him, so I think we’ve already found some common ground...I do have to apologize further though.” Aldreric began to ascend the stairs in order to speak more on level ground with the goblin. “My feathered friend down there has a thing with fire. He incinerated the bugbear’s corpse. At least the parts that the Tiefling hadn’t eaten.” Aldreric pointed at Flutter and Rou respectively, as he strung the story of their actions leading them to the current situation. Aldreric continued making his way closer to the goblin and human hostage.
All the while Aldrericspeaks, Teemikholds a snarl. As the human approaches, the snarl weakens; his gaze flicks off a little. Could Klarg actually be dead?
The silver-haired goblin slings out a crude blade and points it at Aldreric, realising how close he is, before dangling the human over the ledge, holding the man by his makeshift bindings, "BACK OFF!"
Kharnyl looks closely at the silver haired goblins face, trying to discern if he can be trusted, despite his prejudices and the warning the bound human.
Insight: 10
If he believes the offer, he will intervene and tell the goblin that he has not met a bugbear in these caverns, but if he mistrusts the goblin, he will second Alderic's story, claiming that they had indeed killed Klarg.
If he drops the human, Kharnyl will try to catch him, though hopefully it doesn't come to that.

“Very well, you’ve called my bluff. So let’s lay our cards on the table.” Aldreric cuts his ingenious demeanor of admiration, he was attempting for winning the goblin over. Standing up straight, he removes a stick of dynamite, and holds it gently in his hand. “You’re operating under the assumption that that human means something to us. I have no idea who he is. Now this could be another lie, but I could be telling the truth. Since we came to this cavern because your cowardly comrades led us here before we killed them.”
Aldreric lights the stick of dynamite. “So here’s where we stand. Either he does in fact mean nothing to us, in which case, I don’t care if you drop him and I can just toss this stick to blow you both away...or we do know who he is, and we’re at a stalemate because if you drop him, you and I will have a very closeup meeting immediately after. Either way, you have no upper ground.”
Teemiksnarls, before yanking the man from the edge of the ledge to Aldreric's feet. The goblin barks commands at the other two, and all skitter away into the cave; their scuffling echoing throughout...
"Hey. Please, give me a hand..." The man struggles in his bound hands and feet.
Aldreric pulls the lit fuse from the stick and tosses it on the ground (fuse, not the stick). “A stick saved, a stick earned.” And he returns the dynamite to whence he first pulled it. Walking over to the man, he unties the binding. “You wouldn’t happen to be under Rockseeker employment, would you?”
The man stands, rubbing his hands and feet, "Gods... Ow! Huh? Employment? Heh, he's a friend. You must be the people under his employment." Despite his condition, he finds it in himself to smile.
"Thank you very much for the help. I'm Sildar Hallwinter. Goblins tried get on you too? Bastards... That said, they've most probably gone to Klarg, he is the leader of this place. I heard those bastards talking, thinking I didn't understand; they've been ordered by someone called "The Black Spider" to put a stop to Gundren, but not outright kill him." He rubs his shoulder and flexes his arms.
Sildarpicks up a crude goblin sword and shield, "I think it'll do Phandelin, and to all their future victims, if they were rid of. Not that I don't blame you if you don't as coin wasn't a thing Gundren is known for showing the goods up front. Speaking of... there's a chest behind me. I'm sure that'll be a nice treat if you can get it open..." Despite the clear beatings, pain isn't hindering the man.

"Sildar Hallwinter, Aldreric Fortunus the Third, purveyor and transporter of spices and ingredients, precious goods and high-end cargo, and rarities and oddities. They..." Aldreric gestured towards the rest of his party, still on the bottom level, "are indeed under Gundren's employ, though I consider myself to be more of an investor." Aldreric continued speaking as his turned his attention towards the chest behind Sildar, and gravitated towards it. "If you are who you say you are, then perhaps in the benefit of all our investments, we would be wise to heed your advise."
Aldreric removed his thieves tools and knelt in front of the chest, though stopping first to check if it was already unlocked ((if it open's Aldreric intends to gather whatever is inside)) ((if locked, proceed...)) Lock pick 6 ((Edited because prof bonus for tools was added but forgot dex mod))
Still talking to Sildar, while focusing on the lock. "This Black Spider. Do you consider him simply an economic threat to the business, or something more nefarious?"
"I admire your spirit. Phandalin can't thrive with a pack of goblins raiding everyone along the road into town. But if we're going to take on this Klarg and his goblins, we need to be smart. They probably have us outnumbered. What have you seen of this place that could be advantageous to us? Any traps or chokepoints we can exploit?" Kharnyl asks Sildar.
Rou grits his teeth, as this conversations ends. With great axe in hand, He slams it into the stone “We were better off killing the lot!” Grabbing his Great Axe he push Alderic out of the way and slam his great axe it into the top part of the chest to blow off his steam. “Get out of the way!”
"Pleasure's all mine, Aldreric. Ooh, no one's spared doing the dirty work with Rockseeker around, as you can see. Mind me introducing me to your...eomployees?"Sildareyes the kenku before giving it a smile, a firm nod to the dwarf and a raised eyebrow as the teiflingis off on a mission...
Sildarturns to the dwarf, "You are right, master dwarf. Unfortunately, I was dragged in unconscious, so your guess is as good as mine. Knowing goblins, they haven't got much up their dirty little sleeves."
==========
Just as Aldrericfeels a click and the lock gives, he feels something shove him to one side and a spray of copper, silver and golds all over the walls and floor as Rou's It's quite a bit, but now someone's got to pick it up...
Aldreric watches as Rou cuts into the chest. “Well, I guess, thank you. It would have been difficult to physically lift the lid of the unlocked chest. Now we don’t need to worry about that. But let us gather our return investment.”
After gathering his equal share ((Aldreric sees no reason not to evenly divide it as they have been doing so thus far)) Aldreric walks back over to Sildar. Aldreric motions you each member of the party as he introduces them. “The overbearing temper-tantrum is Rou. The seemingly logical one, who in actuality fears repercussions of imaginary higher beings, is Kharnyl. And the magical mockingbird is...you know I don’t believe I ever caught his name...though I can confirm Gundren did indeed accept his being part of the group. And I can confirm further that he has indeed acted only in the same interests as our own.”
As Sildar eyes Flutter, he freezes in anticipation. Then, after a slight smile, Flutter returns the gesture in relief and happiness.
" -Friend"
He mimics questionably at Sildar.
" -I am-"
He mimics, before shuffling around his gear and pointing to his name tag Gundren had given him to fill out the last time they met.
As the group divides their share of treasure, Flutter looks over at Sildar. He notices he didn't get anything from the chest and waddles over, sheepishly offering 6gp from Flutter's own share.
To the bird, Kharnyl asks "I've seen your magic, friend. Can you read the scroll we found in this in this chest? It might come in handy if we could make use of it." Kharnyl picks up the scroll and looks it over.
Ooc: can he read it?
