Sericea thinks about going to see how Owlbear is doing, and perhaps learning more about him from Sandara. But she suspects Sandara may blame her friends for his current condition, and decides to visit him later.
She sees Cog, Concho, and Rosie drinking, a much friendlier group overall, and so she wanders over. She starts recounting the fight, and then starts ribbing Concho that he should challenge Owlbear next time. She tries to get Rosie in on the act, suggesting all the ways the huge man would have no chance against a gnome swashbuckler like Concho...
Persuasion check, +5 proficient, +2 from Rosie, advantage from rum: 22
Unfortunately, despite her best efforts to make Concho laugh, he seems to take offense at the whole idea. Sericea keeps smiling but fears she's done more damage than good.
Con save from rum: 20
Favored by the gods to avoid failure: 4
I think that is a success, but I forget my current rum modifier.
Sericea is tired after a long day in the kitchen and the disastrous conversation, so goes to bed.
Additional con damage: 1, -1 from going to bed, so total -3, also sleeping off exhaustion.

Briel downs her own ration for once, before going to where she saw Owlbear go to try and talk to him. ((Not sure how easy it would be to do that so I'll wait to see what the dm says about that.))
Ventus: Sams looks directly into your eyes, a little taken by your advance. "Well, I am not sure who you be callin' a rogue, but if its me company you are lookin' fer ya found it. Where do we be goin' Floatie? What problem could a fine specimen like you be havin'?"

Sericea: (Check failed by 5 or more, attitude downgraded by one Conchobhar is now Hostile).
Concho scowls at you. "Listen, I don't know what you are trying to pull. But Owlbear is an alright bloke. Slow sure, there are brighter lights in the Underdark. But if you have a problem with him then you have a problem with me. I would thank you for not making fun of him in my presence any more. Infact, why don't you just stay out of my presence for a while, alright? I find the smell to be unpalatable."
(Most unfortunate, on the plus side now the only direction you can go is up.)

Birel: You find Owlbear tucked in a semi-fetal position against the mast in the mid-deck. No one has come to chain him to the mast yet, but this being his normal home he seems most comfortable here. Sandara is with him, applying some ointment from a tin to the scrapes that her healing magic did not manage to heal.
As you approach Owlbear notices you and lets out a set of mournful hoots that you would swear were coming from an owl if you were only hearing it. Sandara looks over her shoulder and smiles sadly at you. "He finds mimicing birds to be fun when he is down here by himself bored. And it calms him when he is stressed. I know you are a kind person, so I can only assume you have not come to add to his anxiety. If you have I fear we will have to have a row."
Owlbear looks at Sandara with a cautious hopefulness. "New lady friend?" She lays a hand on his shoulder comfortingly and looks to you, waiting for an answer to his question.

Birel: Owlbear watches you cautiously. He seems content to your presence, but he trusted quickly once already today and that ended poorly for him. It seems he is not likely to trust quickly again right away.
You are able to make a skill check to adjust his attitude, and with Sandara there she will give you that +2 bump. The DC is standard for an NPC that is unfriendly but keep in mind his CHR modifier is -1, so that does make it a little easier to sway him.

Birel: DC was 16, so failure by 4 or less means attitude does not worsen at least.
Owlbear stares at you for a while longer, and then yawns. "Tired. No new friends now. Later, maybe. Bye bye." Without ceremony he closes his eyes and begins to most obnoxiously fake snore you have ever heard. Sandara looks at you again and whispers, as if trying to not disturb his "sleep". "Well, that could have gone worse."

Briel looks upset, "Sorry I couldn't help him," she says quietly to Sandra, "I'll try again another day." She goes to leave after waiting a few moments to see if she says anything else before going to bed, too frustrated and upset to want to see if she could find anything else interesting that night.
"You saw the fight between Varus and Owlbear, right? I was hoping to have your assistance in talking to him, as he's likely to try and attack me if I have someone with me. I know Birel tried talking to him but failed, however my mother always told me the right song can solve any situation, and I have a particular song in mind he might like. What do you say?" He grins at her.
With a smile Samms tosses back her rum ration and smiles and waves at the two crew members that she was sitting and jawing with (Giffer and Jack). She rises and offers you her arm, for all the world like a debutante being escorted to a ball.
"Lead on fine sir. You have the...air...of a man that knows what he is about."
With you at the lead she heads down to the mid-ship to attempt to cheer up Owlbear.

Ventus chuckles, then follows her over to Owlbear, but not before grabbing his ration of rum, and draining it. Pulling out his flute, he calls out "Owlbear! Do you know what the best cure for a foul mood is?"
The slightest hint of a grin sprouts on Samms face. "A fowl mood? Why, if you are in a fowl mood then clearly you need to find yourself a chicken dinner."
Owlbear looks up at her from his poor attempt at faking sleep and smiles. "Barefoot lady funny. Bwak, Bwak, BWAKAK!"
(You have Owlbear's attention and Samms has helped. With rum you get advantage and with Samms you get +2...roll away my friend.)

"It's good old fashioned music of course!" Ventus pulls out his flute and twirls it between his fingers. "I heard what you said about the song I was playing earlier, so I thought a happier one might be able to help cheer you up!" The genasi begins to play a slow but happier sounding then the one he was playing earlier.

(Wow...Nice result! DC was 16, so by beating it by 5 you are going to bump his attitude 2 grades in one go. In fact, since you are beating it by 2 and then some I am going to be generous and throw in a free "Entertain the Crew" as well.)
Entertain the Crew:
One way pirates amuse themselves is through songs and stories. Pirates love a good sea chantey, and characters with Perform skills quickly find themselves popular members of the crew. If a character succeeds at a DC 15 Perform check, he gains advantage on all Charisma-based skill checks made to interact with any listener among the crew for the next 24 hours. A Perform result of 9 or lower, however, indicates that the next time he attempts to use Perform to entertain the crew, everyone ignores him unless he makes a successful DC 15 Deception or Intimidate check before doing so.
As your song picks up beat, more and more crew members wander down from the deck and begin circling around, clapping in time and stomping their feet. Owlbear seems to be getting into it as well, although his foot stomps are not quite on the beat. After a moment Rosie comes down and joins in the revelry, bringing a voice to your flute solo which is quickly joined by other members with additional voices that are of more copper quality than gold.
As the song comes to an end the crew gives one last shout, "Rollickin' Randy Dandy Oh!!"
With a cheer the crowd begins to disperse, some heading to their berths while others, rejuvenated by the song, head back up deck to get another drink.
Owlbear seems greatly impressed by your performance and slams his hands together in great gasps of laughter. "Blue man bring group! Blue man bring song!"
Owlbear's attitude has been improved two steps to Friendly.
(For the purposes of your Entertain the crew, we will say everyone that has an attitude of Unfriendly or better was there, as well as 4 crew members with an attitude of hostile, I will edit in their names once I see the result of the roll. You will have advantage on chr checks with these people though tomorrow night's night-time action.)
In addition to the Unfriendly and above crew members, your song brought the attention of Conchobhar Shortstone and Shivikah. Your advantage until tomorrow night applies to them as well.
