Hallanann gets into position in order to focus his magical energy towards the contraption that the engineers put together. He starts channeling magic energy into it along with the others.

Gold will risk an attack of opportunity and move to help channel his magic.  He settles his mind to the task and concentrates, channeling both areas of his magic into the device.   (OOC: do we make any rolls of any kind?)

The channels magic manifests itself as treads of light.  Threads of violet, indigo, and crimson flow into the machine from the ether.  A lightning bolt shoots out of the machine and strikes one of the apprentices, knocking him prone.

(Real doesn't draw an opportunity attack because the Shadow was killed. There are two more shadows near Chikra and Kodrith.  )

Please provide an Arcane check if you are channeling magic, and an attack roll if you attacking a shadow.

 Chikra will attack the shadow at A6.

Action: Two-handed longsword. Attack: 11 Damage: 11

Bonus action: Tail blade. Attack: 11 Damage: 9

If the shadow is destroyed, or if she can squeeze between them, she'll move to A7 to flank the other shadow. If she can't, then she'll stay put.

 Kodrith would be dead, but because of his Ruthless Endurance he maintains consciousness.  

A wave of energy ripples out across the area, dissipating all magic in its path. The remaining shadows are swept out of existence.  The ritual concludes successfully and the world lurches as chunks of time and space knit themselves back together like broken bones.

Savila expresses her gratitude "Thank you, we couldn't have done it without you.  You may have any assistance the Academy can provide, if you choose to pursue and oppose Maghiel."

Wisdom save: 7

 With the last attack from the shadow, Kodrith feels his life force being sucked from his body.  At the last moment he ripped himself away from the touch.  Then he felt the force of the device.  It hit the shadow just before he could rage into an attack and swept it way.  Turning back at the others, all he could see was red.  He want to run, to claw and bite but Kodrith wrestled back the beast within and forced his body back to his half orc self.

He dropped to a knee, partially out of breath but mostly out of energy.  He holds up a hand to stop any worry, "I'll be good... just need some meat, a drink and a rest."

Chikra stays near Kodrith, ready to stop him if need be, though her own rage has faded with the passing of the shadows. "A rest would probably be good -- many of you look weary." She turns to Savila. "What information do you have that can help us fight Maghiel?"

Hallanann looks to Savila and says, "I'm relieved that we were able to help dispel the magic that was causing so many problems. What about Maghiel? Do we know where she's at, or what she'll be up to next? Surely she needs to be stopped."

"We found this atlas..."  Lia says, pulling out the thing.  "It was where she was tracing this route..."  Lia points out the place on the map where the lady wizard was tracing the route to.

"Maghiel the Shunned would be difficult for even the most fearsome warriors.   She wears half plate armor and casts up to 3rd level spells.  I don't know how she does it.  I can't move enough to cast a spell wearing any armor.  She can animate undead minions, so she always has creatures to fight with her, although they may be out of sight." Savila explains.

"Ah, a map of the Skykeep Ruins.   Lapo is near the area she has traced.  It' will be a long journey, maybe 3 or 4 days, as Lapo is nearly 100 miles from here.  It's a very small town.  If you need anything, you better get it here in The Bridged City.  Here is 25GP each for your expenses."
