You see no signs of other footprints, or even any other good hiding spots. You are fairly certain these two are running a sham, but they are unsupported - no ambush waiting.
Thistle turns back to look at the two tieflings. She unlimbers her bow and pulls an arrow. “You’re all alone, boys, is this really how your mothers wanted you to die?”

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Finally putting out the tiny flame, Yokini blows hair out of her face and starts craning her neck again. "What's going on, kids?" she calls. She urges Gomol forward to see why they've been held up.

Lem lightly taps his ankles on Shadow’s flanks and the pony starts forward, beginning a wider circle around the roadblock. He raises the mage hand up and it wags a finger at them. His eyes are targeted on them, watching for any further threat.
Once they are past the blockade, Moon, his raven, makes her way over to the abandoned cottage and finds a perch, listening and watching. She will stay there for several minutes, keeping a close eye on what the tieflings do when the party departs.
Zashier, perhaps oddly to the group at this point, didn't just put away his spear blade once the Tiefling had stepped aside. If anything, he appears to have this deep look of consternation on his face. Eventually the brow finally relax, the weapon goes back in his sheathe, and one elphantine warrior is on the move again. But as he passed by the tieflings he adds, "Uh, yea man. Just so we're clear. I meant what was saying before. So, if you would kindly either turn yourselves in, or having refrained from this sorta thing, it'd be much appreciated." He states, staring right into and perhaps even through the tiefling with that warning.
After which he would give Yokini a smile and wave a hand. "No need to worry about things, Ms. Yokini. For as demonstrated, all is well now."

Thistle puts up her bow and trots her horse past the would-be highwaymen. "Don't be here when we come back," she says to them. Noting the raven perched and watchful, she smiles to herself, then chivvies her horse back up to the front of the group.

Yokini looks surprised at the sight of the tieflings. "Oh, it's more of those Braid lads. What a nice send-off. Have a good day, boys," she calls, waving as Gomol plods by.
As you navigate your way through the gates of the makeshift barrier, you note the fallen faces of the Tieflings. You continue on your journey to the NorthWest.
As you travel, you notice rolling hills going out in all directions, the sun bathing you in its glow. Off to the left, in the distance you notice a large wooded area. To the right, a few houses dot the skyline, likely abandoned.
You draw closer to the aforementioned woods, and the closer you get the larger this forest seems to be. It stretches out to your left for several miles, and desipte the light of the midday sun, the forest seems to maintain its darkness, as if it has secrets it does not wish to expose to the sun.
What are you chatting about on the road as you travel?
Feel free to RolePlay any travel interactions you may have - I will post a story update later this evening.
Thistle will ride in silence a while, then start to hum, eventually singing quietly to herself, with a smile on her face.
If anyone asks her a question, she is happy to engage, she just feels a little out of the group since everyone but Raddunth know each other, and he's not much of a conversationalist, she thinks. Besides, the last time she made conversation, one person left and another cried. So.

Now distracted from her tinkering, Yokini looks around amiably as they travel the road. She finally urges Gomol up beside Lem. "So, tell me, Lemmy, what's your life like now that the war's so many years past? Do you have a job? A lady love?"
Zashier, for his part, is fairly quiet through the trip as well. Every now and then, he might pipe up with a few words are about a particular batch of hills tied to some funny, childhood stories. Most of which involved trying and failing to use various items as sleds or makeshift wagons. That, and particularly memorable scraps with the local goblins. Which by the way he described the encounters, they sounded more like minor nuisances at worst, and sketchy traders at best.
It's not until the group couldn't be more than three or four minutes away from entering the woods that the elephantine man grew more taciturn and watchful of the groups surroundings.

I was going to create one more story-pushing post this evening, but I want to see where Yokini's conversation goes with Lem, so I will give Lem a bit more time to RP, as well as Raddunth.
If anyone asks her a question, she is happy to engage, she just feels a little out of the group since everyone but Raddunth know each other, and he's not much of a conversationalist, she thinks.
At some point, Thistle mentions out loud that Raddunth does not seem to be much of a conversationalist. He replies, "I don't know what you mean." He opens his mouth for a moment, like he is going to say more, but then closes it. He is already staring at the horizon, oblivious to the others, unknown thoughts (if any) going through his skull.

Lem has been a bit odd as they have been riding along, his vision and hearing popping in and out of Moon’s as the raven scouts first the Braids, and then starts doing slow circles 100 feet up, alert for anything. This makes Lem turn every so often to one of his traveling companions and raise a finger as if to begin speaking and then freeze, go slack-jawed, and glass-eyed. Then he bursts back to awareness with a gasp. It managed to be both off-putting and endearing, if such a thing is possible. (Did Moon see the Braids do anything during her watch from the cottage as the party walked off?)
When Yokini comes alongside him, he relaxes and gives her a dopey half-smile. “Ini it really is lovely to see you again. Life without war is odd. You can feel bored and overwhelmed at the same time. I don’t have a job per se - but I get by with a bit of translation, scribing, and general academic work. Earns enough for food and a little attic room. I’ve read just about everything in Fallcrest at this point. When I wasn’t re-enacting horrors of war in my head, it was a nice few years. I stayed in the army a bit longer after you left, didn’t know how to quit. And no I don’t think I have a Lady Love. There was a very tall and strong human woman with short hair who used to come by to make sure I was taking care of ‘ol Shadow well enough. Her name is, well, it will come to me later. What about you? Did you see your family?”
Thistle laughs along with Zashier’s stories, but can’t help but notice when he grows more quiet. Glancing from him to the forest and back again, she asks, “What is it about the trees that you don’t like? Something we should know? Or just memories crowding out the sunny day?”

Though, there were the time I did the thing to protect me mates and kind of the reason I wound up like this." Zashier gestures to his form, followed by an dismissive wave. "Anyhow. Reason ya stay out without business to just go through is 'cause of the Ogres that had a tendency to call the place home. That, and some other stuff. But, it's cause of them mainly, in my humble opinion. And without my Sis here, well...." He trails off again, nervously tapping his fingers at his side.
