“Are you trying to brighten it up with a splash of color? If so a sash maybe in red or white could work. If you’re trying to keep it monochromatic maybe a silver lined cape. I wouldn’t go with a hat. We’ll completely lose your face with a hat. Unless you’re trying to turn people away?” Quentin answers
“It’s not functional and that’s the point. When talking about fine clothes it’s not about function but rather showing off. You are showing off your wealth and status. Only those with money can keep up with fashion trends. It’s even more impressive if you can make the trends. On a more personal note it can also see off who you are as a person. Kind of what your personality is like. On a more romantic note it can show off parts of your body you want others to see in order to attract them for potential courtship, or just to make your ex jealous.”
"No, I'm not trying to turn anyone away," chuckled Elwin, "but yes, I admit I was hoping for a bit more color. I like your idea of a sash though.... Yes, a white sash. Maybe in one of those fancy, shiny fabrics. That sounds like it would work well."
Soon, with Quentin's assistance Elwin had found a suitable sash. Dressed in his new outfit, expertly-fitted, he presented himself to the others. "What do you think? Good enough to not embarrass our noble friends?"
“You were not embarrassing me before Elwin but....well.....” Quentin does the same scratching of his cheek with his pointer finger that he’s done before, “You look very good in it. Nice job.”
For me, these have to be fairly functional. I will perform in them, so I need to move - and I'd suggest that you be able to swing a sword in case of need. Some wear clothes that are especially impractical, to signal they don't need to worry about such things. And some wear clothes that seem impossible to move in, but do in fact allow attacks, as a form of social camouflage. Once well fitted, Del changes back to traveling clothes and armor But these for the other kind of work

A question for the police (either retro or Del stops by Hickory) the eleven we saved - how many were in the posters we saw or otherwise known to be missing - how many still missing?
Del thinks about the others' advice on sugar and health (centuries ahead of medical research!) Five pounds probably is too much, I'll break off some smaller pieces, enough for pixie relationships
The desk sergeant tells Del that Groff, Cup, the pixies and the sprite were never reported as missing. The elf child and three gnome children were the most recently reported disappearances. There are still 28 missing children from the Free City and nearby areas. He hands a sheaf of parchments over--copies of police portraits of the missing children. "Who knows, maybe you will find them," he says. "Lieutenant Hooleran sounded impressed with you, and she doesn't impress easily."
The clerk at the magic shop greets Quentin and asks how he can help him.

As an aside Del asks what you all think of this as language for a letter to Amryl Naica - he's trying to make it seem in her best interest to take our side.
Letter to Lady Amryl Naica, Proprietress, Monkey Shines
So happy to have seen you yesterday at the Castle, though sorry it was under such circumstances. One hopes all will turn out for the best.
During our recent adventure in the Shadowfell, we liberated some stolen sugar from an entity that had been abducting children. The Free City officials assure us it is untainted. We remember how generous and forward-thinking you were in the recent negotiations with the satyrs, and seek to emulate that example. We have tasked the merchant called “Falcon” to transport about 90 pounds of loaf sugar to the Monkey Shines. Lacking time to negotiate a sale, let us consider it an investment to be negotiated in good faith. We hope that using the stuff you might find a way to alleviate your brewing troubles, the effects of which we feel even here in Free City. I assume we can come to an agreement as to the value of that investment once the brewing time has passed.
As an aside, we do keep hearing those unfortunate fables about Lord Quentin, traced to your cousin Reglan. If we may be so bold, it is an inconvenience for us, and perhaps a risk to your family’s reputation for accurate and useful information. I hope you find this information useful, and perhaps we can trade other such pieces of news that we might come across in our adventures.
Please feel free to contact us care of the Castle for the near future, until such time as we are available to meet in person
Elwin tried to keep a neutral expression, but found himself both surprised and a little frustrated by the message.
He didn't like the Naica's, and was solidly, even deliberately biased against any overtures toward them. Of course, he also knew that he wasn't terribly sophisticated when it came to how nobles operated. But with the letter, he also found himself wondering if Del had somehow mastered their spheres, and if this was him expertly pulling at their strings. It would make sense for a bard to be that knowledgeable and clever--but it sort of set him apart from Elwin, in Elwin's mind at least, as having risen much higher above his earlier station in life. Which wouldn't have been that big of a deal, if the young man hadn't already come to think of Del as a fellow child-of-the-streets-struggling-to-achieve.
The warlock sneaked a sideways glance at the not-quite-half elf as he read the letter, trying to remember how old he had said he was, before he finished.
"It feels wrong to sound so friendly toward them," he finally said, rather bluntly, if honestly. "But I admit, I don't know how high-class dealings normally go. And I already misjudged by thinking you were going to dump a barrel of sugar onto the orphan children, rather than the few pounds you intended."
Trying to make light of his own discomfort with befriending the Naicas, he shrugged, smiling as he continued, "Clearly your knowledge in this area is greater than mine. I have no issue trusting your judgment on this, so if it's agreed to send this, I'll concede." He rubbed his chin as he thought a second, adding, "Just don't ask me to actually like the lot. I can only hold a fake smile for so long!"
I don't know, I'd say were it not for this conflict, the Naicas are pretty decent folk. Like the Simuls, they are less political, more fun-loving than most of the others. I know they play rough, but so do we. I had fun trading songs at the castle, they run a decent pub and sell beer basically. And I think the conflict is with just a few of a faction within them. But even to an enemy, you write polite, and kill them with kindness. Unless it is really time to threaten
