Eyebrows raising at the streaking lights that strike the ground to either side of them, to create small patches of ice.
"How do we prove we are us?" He asked to everyone including the Gnomes above.
"Is this a Gnomish tradition Mr.Chomsky? Maybe we should wake this one up?"
Still holding the female Gnome in both hands, John begins to shake her vigorously in an attempt to rouse her. "WAKE UP LITTLE GNOME! TELL THEM WE ARE US!"
"John, show them the notice from the board. That will prove to the little ones that we're here on official business, or br Gruumsh my hammer will!" Ketch says loudly, so even the uppity gnomes can hear.

"Oh, right!" John exclaims as he's reminded of the piece of paper from the town board, that he stuffed into his pocket before departing. Still holding the sleepy Gnome by the ropes in his left hand, he reaches into his pocket to pull out the job notice.
Setting the sleepy Gnome down now, he walks forwards waiving the slip of paper over his head. "It doesn't have our names on it.. But, it mentions you folk! And, it tells us to come and speak with you.. I think!"
When he reaches the 10ft wall they stand upon, he attempts to jump up just high enough to slap the paper down at their feet. "Here! Here it is!"
Xel-Thoth shouts to the gnomes: "We would gladly prove we are who we are. Do you have a test so that we may take it? For we wish to abide by the customs and laws of Gnomengarde."
John, you jump up to slap the paper down, but the timing is off and it starts to slide down. But one of the gnomes kneels down to catch it as the other watches you closely.
Ketch, Intimidation check.
Xel-Thoth, Persuastion check.
Since John showed the paper, I'll say with advantage.
"A thousand thank yous good sirs! And please give our regards and apologies to your friend when they wake up! Come along everyone! We have more gnomes to speak to!" With that, Chom starts marching in the direction given by the gnomes, after waving goodbye.
"Just uses far hand with the blades!" You hear both of them shout as you exit.
Ahead of you is a rope bridge. The waterfall to your left begins 60 feet up, its mist lightly obscures the bridge and making it slippery. And its roar fills the air.
The ledges that both ends are secured to appear to be 20 feet up from the pool below. But the middle sags about five feet lower than that.
Off and on, through the swirling mist, you see another cave entrance. You reckon it to be 30, 35 feet away.
"Far hand with blades? Gnomes are...something" John surmised out loud. He was beginning to appreciate Mr.Chomsky a little more with every Gnome they encountered. While he spoke quickly, and in abundance. John could usually understand his meanings if he paid enough attention.
As they came to the bridge he remembered seeing upon arrival, he wondered aloud "Should we go lightest to Ketch? Or Ketch to lightest?"
The bridge was slick with water from the fall and he could not tell how worn the bridge wood was from here, but he assumed it was best to be cautious.

Ketch grunts and steps up to the bridge. He squints and peers at it and over it, looking to judge it’s sturdiness (perception 20) and to make sure there’s no crazy gnomes at the other end about to be all crazy (perception 13). If all looks sound and safe he stowes his warhammer and shield, pulls out one hand axe in case he needs to chuck something at somebody, and starts across the bridge.
The bridge is sturdy, if slippery. You find yourself having to go slower than usual as it sways. Each step makes the bridge go lower, but you're not in danger of it touching the water.
Being both in the shadow of the valley and having the mist swirling around you is making the air chilly.
The area around the cave on the opposite side is clear.
Xel-Thoth waits until John reaches the other side of the bridge before he starts to cross. He makes sure to have a tight grip on the rope railing, just in case.
With two before you traversing the span, you are cautious but sure about the way. You go slow, leaning into the swaying of the bridge. You concentrate on your grip and not how far it is to go, so it seems to take so long. But then at the top of your vision you see the valley wall leading up to the cliff.
Chom hefts his little backpack over his shoulder and marches across the bridge, Horace on his shoulder. "Watch your step now Horace! Wouldn't want you to slip and fall!" The hawk turns and cocks its head in the direction of its master.

13 I’m not really all that intimidating...
They are wide-eyed as they look between Ketch and Xel-Thoth and their discussion becomes more intense. Then they move back to the ledge.
"We believe you."
"There is a dragon?"
"Our kings must know."
"But King Kordoz..."
"Maybe Fibblestib and Dabbledob?"
"Yes."
The gnome on the right leans over. "Find Fibblestib and Dabbledob. Cross the bridge, second room."
"Fizzlezazzle Dumblewhat?" Ketch asks, confused. "Do you speak this language, Chom?"
"A thousand thank yous good sirs! And please give our regards and apologies to your friend when they wake up! Come along everyone! We have more gnomes to speak to!" With that, Chom starts marching in the direction given by the gnomes, after waving goodbye.
"Fiddlestix & Dumbledob!" John corrects Ketch knowingly, as he waves his own goodbyes to the guard Gnomes.
He proceeds to follow Chom out of the chamber. "I hope there isn't another crossbow machine.. They kept our job paper."
"Just uses far hand with the blades!" You hear both of them shout as you exit.

”As Gruumsh says, I ain’t afraid of no bridge!”

Reassured by Ketch's success, John grabs onto a rope railing with each hand, and starts his way across the bridge.
((Let me know if i need to roll))
"Sturdy bridge, and no crazy Gnomes. Our luck is getting better!"
The bridge sways more, and grows closer to the water, with your added weight. The slickness of the ropes makes the going slow, but not terrible.
