From the distance they are at those with a passive perception of at least 15 can see that their is an exchange going on as the figure pulls something off the cart and trades it for something with the people in the house.
"I would not trust the roof to hold to much weight. I would suggest perhaps instead a window to shoot from." Ismark says as he steps into the manor once it is fully opened up by a human woman who you would assume is his adopted sister Ireena. "Before we go any further I must warn you to avoid the drawing room. My father is being kept their until it is safe for us to take him to have a proper funeral..."

The interior of the mansion is well furnished, yet the fixtures show signs of great wear. Noticeable oddities are the boarded-up windows and the presence of holy symbols in every room. The burgomaster is in a side drawing room on the floor — lying in a simple wooden coffin surrounded by wilting flowers and a faint odor of decay.

"Of course, as you wish, Ismark," says Errol, looking uncomfortably towards the drawing room. "I do not wish to be indelicate, but, can you tell me how your father died? With all the undeath assaulting your gates, are you taking the proper...precautions...with the body?"

Errol you do not think there is a chance of the Burgomaster becoming undead as he would have turned of he was going to unless someone used magic raise his corpse.
“I’ll see what I can find,” says Errol, going to investigate the defenses. Passive Investigation 21 on the defenses; if there are any vulnerable sections he will do a more active check and ask for help from the others.

Can you tell us more about the attacks? What kind of creatures? How many of them. Also sorry if it may be personal, but do you know why they are y to capture your sister?
Errol and Tierra can't find much of anything to add to the defenses. The outside fences and gates are rusted and bent to uselessness. It seems that the house is worth more attention then trying to do anything outside.
"It has been wolves and undead for the most part. Ireena and I have been able to keep them from coming inside." Ismark goes to continue but is stopped by Ireena.
"I do not know why Strahd wants me. He charmed me and then fed from me. After that he sent his creatures to our house."
”Thanks for coming with me, Tierra. I can’t see much of use out here—shall we go back inside and shore up the defenses there?” says Errol. As an aside, he asks, “If we see more wolves, do you think you could convince them to not attack?”

He mutters, then aloud says to Erol," We could certainly try. But, if those creatures are already being dominated by someone else, I doubt a nice chat will yield more than vocalize already clear intent."

Errol turns his attentions to the inside of the house. He tries to find upper story windows with good line of sight to potential enemies, and he checks all manner of ingress for sturdiness, attempting to repair any loose boards or reinforce any weak points (Investigation 21).
